Not if you're into car dealerships and a big fuck off chemical plant, no.

They have a shopping centre by tbe look of it. Bar the really nice town hall and couple of other old buildings, it is pretty grim. To be fair the Town Hall is a cracker but unless you like various types of deep fried chicken, I counted Arizona chicken, Dallas chicken and I'm sure they had a Kentucky Fried Chicken too somewhere, there's not much doing on the 'things to do' front in Rochdale. When I lived in Bury I went on a date with an Irish bird in Rochdale on a Wednesday. Makes Huddersfield seem like Manchester or Leeds 😂

Let's be better than the dick fans who think they are better than everyone and try to act with some decorum. Rochdale fans would kill for a well run club like ours but they haven't got a pot to piss in.

I've made some derogatory comments about the town centre on this thread (based on more than one brief visit), but do find the title a bit crass and was getting wound up on the way back as some chavvy girl was walking past Dale fans slating the stadium.

The whole bloody town is a shit hole but that's poor form is that. A bucket of hot soapy water and a bit of elbow grease costs nowt. Technically, it will cost something

It's like Going back in time walking from the station down to the centre, no English shops, Tumble weed on the streets. You must have walked a different was to us. The town centre looked pretty good, the town hall and churches looked very classical. But to be fair, by then I was approaching double figures.

It's the road that leads from the train station down to the town centre which is easily the worst bit, should be completely levelled. Once you actually get into the town centre, it's presentable at best (agreed that the town hall is an impressive structure), but there's not much else going for it.

Having a dozen or so seats caked in bird crap is pretty disrespectful to our fans who paid good money for those seats. That mess didn't just happen over night and could have been sorted long before we got there.

Perhaps if all the glory hunting twats that live in Rochdale supported their local Club instead of fucking off to watch Man Utd or City they would be able to spend money on the ground, money they haven't got. Let's not have a pop at Rochdale, a proper Club with proper fans and a ground with shitloads more character than our soulless structure. I'm not sure how your dislike of our more modern style stadium elevates their's to anything other than a cramped, bog standard, slightly run down, old style, adequate football ground. Nothing wrong with that (it's not their fault they haven't got the support or the investment)... but nothing particularly pleasant about it either. Let's not get too romantic. Give me football at the John Smiths any day of the week. We have some 'proper fans' too, by the way.

The posts I responded to were slating the Town. Actually the town hall and surrounding area are quite nice anyway

The seats were a disgrace tbh. As I said a lot of other posts were generally slating the town.

Wander round Huddersfield Town centre and its a damn depressing place. Obese men and women in track suits with McDonalds curry sauce staining their tops. Greggs wrappers littering the old Yorkshire stone flag pavements. Gangs of kids with their hoods up loitering outside the WW2 memorial, with nowhere better to go. (Probably completely unaware their was ever a world war). Every shop is now a scruffy front and either a takeaway, pawn shop or bookmaker. Don't need to be told Huddersfield has nice suburbs, I know that and thats why I socialise in them and refuse to go to Huddersfield Town Centre except match days and work. I lived in the Centre of Hudds for three years and while I have friends with business owners of shops/takeaways and bars they're very depressed about their future and buisness is terrible. Rochdale Town Centre will be Hudds' in another 10 years. On that point too Rochdale is every inch as nice on the outskirts and has countryside villages just as good and many better then in this made up place we call 'Kirklees'. Plus they have Manchester minutes away.

Yorkshire stone flag pavements? My, it is a long time since you've been into town. The town suffered from shit 1960's town planning with horrendous buildings being erected ie Queensgate Market, The Piazza and the Buxton Street building. I must say New Street really does need tidying up though lot of empty shops and the streetscene is bloody awful. The council really need to address it as it's starting to drag the town down. Everything has migrated towards the bottom end of town around Kingsgate, which is to be expected I guess.

Imagine what away fans would think of Huddersfield if they walked to the stadium from Deighton train station 😂😂😂😂😂 But to fair, it's not a grim walk from Deighton station to the stadium. They could walk along the canal or if they chose to walk along Leeds Road it's not grim is it? They might meet Nick on one of his runs. Or Dig1 on his barge. I assume he lives on a barge?

Nice little ground to be fair. Seems like a proper stadium and hasn't been totally kmacked by the addition of seats. )Good that they let the away fans in the bar behind the main stand. Thoroughly enjoyable day out.

The area around the ground looked quite nice and leafy for Rochdale... usually grounds are in the sh!tty part of town- the walk down Leeds Road and Gasworks Street isn't exactly picturesque, for example. The walk back into Rochdale after the game was like being an extra in an episode of The Wire though. That's a lot of sheeeeeeeit
