Saw this on Twitter last night and thought Wow! If true we may have a bargain. Mbappe 15 goals Ligue 1 £100m Mounie 14 goals Ligue 1. £11.5m Can't decide if we getting a bargain or mbappe is truly over rated and over priced Can't really compare the two. Mbappe is ridiculously good.

Going to be a fantastic signing. However, I cannot for the life of me read his surname without thinking I'm reading 'Mountie', far too much 1992 World Wrestling Federation during the break between seasons I think Shame it apparently doesn't rhyme, we could've adapted one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed.

They would both be worth 50p if they rely on rvlp and scannel to supply the crosses. With Mounie and Depoitre attacking the six yard box VLP will get plenty of assists this season. I'd have had double figures last season if one of them was on the six yard line. So how come Tommy Smith got so many assists.

So how come Tommy Smith got so many assists. Because he makes the right decision a lot more often than VLP. He doesn't dwell on it and crosses earlier, meaning that the defence doesn't have as much time to get in place. VLP is a lot more unpredictable but his crossing improved in the second half of the season and he flashed a lot of good crosses across the six yard box, there was just no one attacking it.

Town linked with this guy's team mate William Remy now. Central defender. Previously linked with Palace

They would be randomly selected before each game then it would be up to the manager to see where they think is the best position to put them to ensure less damage is done.

Well yea he obviously is but at the same time it's amusing that some people are saying mounies strike rate isn't that great and are we wasting money and there is mbappe with same goals going for 100million!

The vast majority of what I've read, on here, re Mounié, seem massively in favour. Not seen many criticise his goalscoring record, to be fair. Will leave that to arterrier, Oti or Nick if he doesn't score a few in his first few games.

I have not seen them play in the flesh or over 90 minutes at all.. Im going with Dave ....I have an opinion on players like Ince etc.. and should it look likely will give it but it might just be on price and a discussion on how and where he plays in the finished team/squad. Still like to see him play a dozen or so games for us before any good/bad critique though..

And because.... Smith often DIDNT put crosses in, but just worked intricate little passing moves with Kachunga. On the other side, Lowe for the most part seemed to either just leave the attacking moves to VLP (and Wells who got sucked across as things slowed up), or when he was overlapping, lumped over the crosses that we didn't have the attackers to capitalise on. I suspect with these more physical strikers then Lowes contribution may go upwards relatively speaking (although likely it'll be down because of the higher standard). Basically, Smith got more assists because he played the attacking role like a technical midfielder, whereas Lowe played it like a traditional wing back.

Starting to get nervy over this one now, come on Town get this one over the line. Not worried about it yet. News reports said the medical was not until today, it just seems to have dragged on a while because of the leaks from the French side of things. Having said that I hope they don't hold back announcing a major signing like this until the elusive kit launch takes place. In my opinion we should be building the excitement step by step and announcing each signing as they happen, particularly if it breaks the previous transfer record.I think it would really build excitement if we announce breaking the transfer record with player A, then 3 days later broken again with player B, and so on. If Town did that 3 or 4 times in a 2 week spell I think it would really build up the enthusiasm.

That was a typo, it meant to say he'd have had double figures (VLP) of assists with Depoitre or Mounie in the box. I'd have had at least 25

He got two assists at Norwich, and one of them was just a five yard pass back to Kachunga.

I would say it was far simpler, when we attacked down the right kachunga drifted into the box making an extra attacker for Smith to aim at whereas both Lowe and VLP tended to stick to the touchline more often and unless Palmer/Brown got into the box Nakhi was isolated

Thing about Wagner, which I really like, is the end of our team/match planning being solely based upon the threats the opposition pose. We have our own brand, home and away..46 (or 38) games. No fannying around (well very little)..hence the players he'll be bringing in will be the sort who will fit in exactly with our style of play...no more 'utility' players . each has a job (or two)..each knows what they are doing. I am full of confidence our new recruits will be a perfect fit...

Would we ever purposefully wait for a kit launch to reveal players? ... NO.
Would an expensive new shirt sponsor demand that our big news record signings are pictured everywhere in the shirt with their logo on... definatley.
If they released them all like Depoitre then that would be a lot of marketing, advertising and coverage lost by that company.

Have we ever announced a new signing at a kit launch? It seems to get mentioned every season but I can't remember it ever happening. They often have a new signing modelling the new shirt but it's always after the new signing has been revealed.

Just seen this on the BBC website:
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku's transfer to Chelsea has been delayed - because the Premier League champions are waiting for their new kit deal to begin. (Daily Express)
So maybe we are not the only ones in this position.

Its funny, I have been thinking about the Kachunga situation last year and the way I remember it he had not been announced and I seem to remember people asking who he was when the kit pictures were released. It was almost as if they forgot to announce him officially until after the kit launch had taken place although I may not be remembering it quite the way it was in reality. I can understand them not wanting to release info with players wearing old kit, but I think that building the excitement up in stages would work better, it just may require the kit to be available, for photos at least, a little earlier than it has been.

No, I'm not, and didn't say that. I wrote "OFTEN didn't". A large percentage of Smiths assists were from technical interplay with Kachunga, or dragging it back having driven into the area. Largely speaking, this was completely different to the approach on the other side, where Lowe and VLPs attacking effort most often weren't "joined up" like Smith and Kachunga were.

I think a lot of it is that VLP will often receive the ball in a static position on the half way line or just in the attacking half, typically from the ball being played across the middle having not been able to stretch the opening on the other side. Lowe can't really get forward past him, and it doesn't make much sense to follow him up if he's going to cut inside and drive across to the number 10 (or spoon a cross over every ones head to Smith on the far side!). The Smith / Kachunga attacks were more likely to start from Smith receiving the ball to the static position, Kachunga would follow it into the channel and weave about in front of / inside him, creating the opportunity and they'd kind of get rolling together. It was much rarer to see Kachunga just standing waiting on the halfway line for the ball (like VLP often did). Perhaps if, after sweeping the ball across to our left we utilised Lowe as the receiver a bit more, instead of VLP, then as the spaces developed at that side, we'd see him and VLP operate more as an attacking unit building together. I'm sure there's a good reason why this balance of play is different between the two flanks however, either because of the relative attacking and defensive strengths and technical ability and confidence of the players involved, or perhaps because of the typically slightly different nature of the opposition on both sides (the better players TEND to be the right sided players simply because of the bigger pool to pick from)...so maybe it's the different defensive challenge between left and right that plays on how we set up to attack also? (Quite often an attack would break down with Smith and Kachunga well forward, but it rarely seems as dangerous as an attack breaking down with Lowe and VLP forwards...the space to attack into for the opposition often seems larger on the right)
