Interview with Steve Mounié talking about joining Huddersfield in a French paper. Here's the google translation. Football - Le Catalan will leave Montpellier for Huddersfield: Steve Mounié, the English key By preparing to sign in Huddersfield, the 22-year-old Catalan can open the doors of the big clubs after one. You should now play in the big world, the Premier League. By signing in England, you change dimension .... Germany attracted me too (Freiburg had contacted him). But England is "The place to be." The dream what! You can imagine, evolving at the Emirates Stadium, Old Trafford, Anflield Road ... Challenge Manchester City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham ... it makes you dream. To project myself to score a goal against such teams, just to think about it, I have the hairs that bristle. The atmosphere is fabulous in the stadiums. In Huddersfield, the 20,000 subscriptions (John Smith's Stadium contains 24,500 seats) left in no time. When I was little, I was wearing an Arsenal shirt. I was supporter of the Gunners because there were plenty of French players. But now I am a "Terrier" (name of Huddersfield players). I will discover England, I who have never set foot there. Do you know the Huddersfield calendar? We go to Crystal Palace, and then we get Newcastle before going for a Cup Tour I think. The first matches, I will have to mark my territory. Because in England, it does not laugh, you are can and you are put in the closet. Even if you cost 13 million euros. Just for the rise, the club has received 200 million TV rights. So to recruit a center-forward to 20 million at the mercato, it does not scare them. Why did you, a priori, choose Huddersfield rather than Watford, the other English club that wanted your visit? In Huddersfield, things were immediately clear. They want me, I want to go, point. In Watford, the president also owns the Italian club of Udinese. The club wanted to recruit me to lend me in the stride in the club Friuli, Italy. No, I did not agree. Your ex-teammate in Montpellier Did Stéphane Sessegnon, the captain of Benin, who played West Brom or Sunderland, give you advice on the ways to avoid in England? I also spoke with my teammate from Montpellier Yacouba Sylla (Mali), who played Aston Villa. It's fun but both invited me to take a private physical trainer. Now in Huddersfield, the coach is German. It must work a lot, so maybe it will not help. Benjamin Stambouli, who played in Tottenham, warned me that physically it was hard in the match as in training. So, I have accentuated a little the musculation lately (smiles). They also warned me against the trap of the girls who are in tandem with the tabloids to trigger scandals. With me, no danger. I'll stay cool, quiet. Well focused on the job. Huddersfield is also the country of XIII ... You would support the Catalan Dragons when they face the Giants? In spite of my Catalan fiber, I appreciate very moderately rugby. So I do not really promise you to go and support the Dragons. What memories will you keep of your Montpellier years? I spent nine years all the same. A very nice house. What good memories with this title of champion of France of CFA2. And then I also participated in the coronation of the team one in Ligue 1. Of course I am sad to leave the Hérault. But with the check that will affect the club, I think it's a good lift back. But for me, it all started in Nîmes in Ligue 2 two years ago. A club that had started the championship with less than 8 points and with which I had fun by scoring 11 goals. And then in the Gard, what a passion. There, I arrived as a child and I left man. www.lindependant.fr/2017/07/01/football-le-catalan-va-quitter-montpellier-pour-huddersfield-steve-mounie-la-cle-anglaise,3030518.php

The interview was before the death of Montpellier's president, Louis Nicollin, on the 29th June. I would guess the delay in announcing this signing is out of respect.

That article was published a couple of hours ago, doesn't sound like there's an uncertainty from his side of things but you don't know when the interview actually took place.
It's a good sign though.

No worries pal. Looking forward to letting Steve loose on the Premier League's defensive divas though! Bring it on!
Also, what I simply love is, the fact that Wagner only wants players of a certain character.

Euro expert was on Talksport Friday night, and he was waxing lyrical about him. "An absolute monster in the air" "Compare the amount of headers won in the air to other centre forwards in Europe and he's way ahead of anyone else" "He's got speed and pace and he's still young so developing all the time." "Exactly the sort of signing Huddersfieldshould be making"
Have a listen back on Talksport @ 9:38pm.

I've forgotten what it's like to have a striker who wins headers. It's been a long time since Leyton Orient away and Boothys last game Sounds daft, but the Orient game was/is in the top five games in my fifty years watching Town. The camaraderie of Town fans that day, coupled with Boothy scoring......the Orient fans applauding Boothy...........the atmosphere in the only pub around the ground.........the Leeds in the police horse manure ( you had to be there)........Ainley falling off the table onto the Spurs fans massive round of drinks at Liverpool Street station wetherspoons......the scarey Boothy masks.......and wasn't it there when Deano gave us an H ? Not the 40,000 of Wembley, but an intimate 2-3 thousand good 'ens.

Interesting in the interview that he was advised to bring his own trainer. Just shows what bad habits the game in this country has picked up, and what a difference it makes when DW comes in and starts to do it right.

Just shows what bad habits the game in this country has picked up, and what a difference it makes when DW comes in and starts to do it right. You only have to look and listen to the stories of how unfit all the Villa players were during their last couple of seasons in the Premier League. They hardly did any training

The interview was before the death of Montpellier's president, Louis Nicollin, on the 29th June. I would guess the delay in announcing this signing is out of respect. This makes no sense at all; it's nothing to do with Town or the player. Yes, it was a sad thing to happen, but Town do not need to delay the announcement. Could be some other reason though ...

He's going to be winning a lot more than headers. With his speed and mobility I'm sure he is signed to replicate what Aubameyang does in the B. Dortmund set up. A complete, all round, one up front laker. Bet Wagner has been scouring Europe for someone with his attributes. Hope the Premier League refs look after him. I've just got the feeling he is going to be our most exciting signing since Denis Law. The last time I got so excited about signing a striker was when Little Joe Harper came for £30k. My only reservation is that it's a hell of a change from Monpellier to Huddersfield and hope those lasses don't try to ensnare him.

Is he coming or not because it's been said on Twitter which I know is unreliable at the best of times, that he is not coming because he is off elsewhere. Can someone in the know confirm if he is coming or not because it's all getting a bit silly now. Just irritating all the swings and roundabouts.
