Would be surprised if we sell Wells and don't bring in another striker. Would be a bit of a repeat from last year, relying on Mounie in the same way that we relied on Wells.
Hopefully we've saved the second PL loan for another striker, and not just a young lad from the u-23s but someone like Danny Ings. We need 3 strikers good enough to start and score goals.

Would be completely stupid to sell him to Burnley There'd only be one stupid party in that deal, and it wouldn't be us or Nahki. He will do absolutely nothing in this division. That clearly is your opinion and likely you would have said the same when Arfield left (I know I thought it). But the likelihood is we will find out if he signs for Burnley.

I like Wells and think he could help us in this division. He would never be first choice ahead of Mounie and is a different striker to Depoitre. I'm sure Nahki felt the writing was on the wall for his Town career under Wagner after our unsuccessful courting of both Terodde and Uth in Wagner's initial couple of windows. The biggest tool for a player to be in control of his own destiny is an expiring contract, and even better when he is a free agent. Nahki will only be transferred permanently in this or the next window if, and only if he fancies the move otherwise he'd be daft not to run down his final year of his contract. Why would a player commit to a new, longer deal at a club that has consistantly tried to replace him with a better player and has just done so at least once maybe twice with Mounié and Depoitre. So you are third in the pecking order it makes absolutely no sense for Nahki to extend his contract at Town under those circumstances as it would most likely be a disaster for his longer term career to be a benchwarmer at best most matchdays. DH says Nahki is being badly advised but I for one don't see any positives from Nahki's point of view to sign a new contract at Town. I definitely see the positives for Town and thus obviously DH if he does. He's not first choice and probably not second choice either - that would not magically change if he signs a new contract at Town. His long held desire to play in the PL is well known but signing a contract to be third choice in the PL would be a massively short sighted decision for his career. Our stance on the situation is IMO the only bizarre one, we have a player that knows our system and has performed well enough in it to help us to promotion and we will be paying him for 12 months but we will NOT allow him to contribute to the cause. I don't believe for one second that he is a bad egg and will cause problems off the field so it just mystifies me why we won't use him if needed. I understand where you're coming from but why can't Nahki just fight for his place? It seems to me that he has accepted that he isnt good enough. I would fight for my place if I was him. If he wants to to be a quitter then so be it.

Name me two strikers left at Town who have scored literally half what they have already in their careers. Together I would suggest they offer a bigger threat than Quaner, Kachunga, DePoitre etc do. If Wells goes we must replace him. Out of the other 18 strike forces in the Premiership Wells and Wood would come 19th on my 'worryometer'. I'm not a great statistician Ben but I suspect that Wells and Wood have, individually, scored more goals in their careers than VLP,Quaner, Kachunga, Depoitre put together. If Wells goes we would be left with, for me, Mounie and, possibly, DePoitre as recognised finishers (though DePoitre has never been prolific and something seems to have gone wrong since he came here). Striker is a specialist position - in my opinion if Mounie gets injured who else comes in to that specialist position ? You might argue that Kachunga could stand in for a match but he's nowhere near a Premiership finisher. I can understand why big Collin is liked, thanks to his Sheff Wed cameo, but I don't think that even his mother would say that he's a deadly striker - apart from anything else his first touch is unfortunately embarrassing. I may be mistaken but I thought it was generally recognised last season that we needed more firepower - if Wells goes we'll have less, in the Premiership. As can be guessed, I'm a Wells fan and I could see Dyche easily getting a lot more from him, either with Wood or Vokes alongside.

If he does get some decent game time then I'm sure Dyche will get more out of him than Wagner, purely because of the different styles. Wells has never fit in since Wagner came IMO and has always struggled to have an impact. You left Ince out of your list of Town players who will get on the scoresheet, and Palmer.

If he wants to to be a quitter then so be it. It looks to me that he isn't being allowed to fight for his place. Wagner rewarded Lolley with a bench appearance after his work in training the previous week and DH has stated that we will NOT play Nahki if he doesn't sign a new (extended) contract. That seems like Nahki wouldn't get a place even if he was the hardest worker in the world. Town are the ones who are playing hardball here not Nahki, Wells is working under an existing contract but the club has decided that it doesn't want to use his services UNLESS he signs an extended one to keep him here when his current one expires. It would be daft for Nahki not to look at what other offers he may receive in the next 12 months as he gets closer to being a free agent. Signing for Burnley under a manager that regularly plays 2 strikers would be a better situation for Nahki than the one he is in with Town at the moment. Dyche loves the big guy and small guy combo up front (Ings followed by Gray to partner Vokes) I think Burnley would likely offer him more money too which would make the decision far easier for him. In no way is that him being a quitter - I like him so would prefer him to see ply his trade for us but am pragmatic enough to know that players do what they feel is best for their careers and can totally see why Nahki would feel he would be better off elsewhere. From Town's point of view, we should do all we can to sell him for the highest fee and replace him with someone the club envisages who could fight Mounié and Depoitre as first choice.

Bradford fans have been waiting 3 years and 8 months for this sell on clause to kick in. Remember when they were signing Benito Carbone and Stan Collymore?
Now they pine for years waiting on a minor blip on a balance sheet. That's how quick it can all go wrong...

What Town have done in recent years is magnificent and in the end you have to trust Wagner of course, it's just that it would be nice to have two proven goalscorers as strikers, not midfield players/wingers who might stand in. I've no idea what goes on behind the scenes and it's early days but something seems to be up with the DePoitre situation when he's not even on the bench. Only my opinion but I certainly hope we replace Wells this week, if he goes. If not, I can't see where the goals will come from if we've just got Mounie.

Good luck Nahki !! A contract determines when a player leaves. When Nahki didn't re-up, it is just his time to move on. I suppose there are technicalities but I don't see a difference between a player on a one year loan and a player in the last year of his contract. If a new contract is not perfected, the player is gone. Nahki always works his socks off but is not a player that can be first to the near post. Nahki needs a lot of trash in the box. Not our style of play. 4-2-3-1 Barring injury or booking, Wagner changes 3 of the front 4, beginning at the hour mark. The front four work their socks off as the first defenders without the ball. Nahki and Kachunga are tireless, definitely a big miss but good luck to him.

If Wells is a premiership striker then Bob (Beamon) is my Uncle. I never thought he was good enough for the Championship. Are you all mad? As soon as we got to the Prem we have had to go out and get 12 new players...and we are still 2 or 3 short. Even the mighty Jordan Rhodes never made it. Get real fellas. Take the money and PRAY he signs for Burnley cos thats one team we will finish above.
