Cheers. Used to have lots of bands on in the Bay Horse years ago, not sure if they have in recent times as not been in there for a couple of years now. Trying to make the Saddle upmarket could be interesting. All they really seemed to do last time was change the name to Lindley Taps but not much else. Boozers that Terry has had have always had good food so i'll have to give it a try when it reopens. Total revamp in the Saddle this time, I know the lad who'll be running it. Yeah good news for Lindley anyway if you're still local. I am still local, about 5 minutes away from the main road through Lindley. Will defo pop in when it reopens.

No not guilty if it is the Home Game on Saturday Tea Time where Roofe scored the header near the end I was there. Why do you ask? No, it was the away game where you conceded late on to draw. They were acting like twats prior to the equaliser and I was just curious. Don't get too much open supporting of Leeds in Huddersfield pubs in general. No definitely not me although know several Leeds supporters from that area of Town who it could have been. Marsh and Lindley has always had and still has a nucleus of Leeds Support with the long gone Marsh House Pub the former home of the Huddersfield Official Branch of the Leeds United Supporters Club in the 80's till we moved our base to The Stag at Waterloo with a brief period in Golcar. One of the reasons I chose Marsh when first moving to Huddersfield apart from KFC of course. Looking back no idea how we got away with that especially in the 80's when football was far more fierce than today. Remember setting off on a Friday Night to Great Yarmouth at closing time already banjaxxed heading to a Norwich game from The Marsh House and we had our flag displayed outside all night clear to see for all driving on Westbourne Road. About 20 of us rolling round the back of a builders van and I ended up throwing up all over my yellow Benetton top. Met up with thousands of Leeds Fans in sedate Yarmouth, a pre-arranged meet of Leeds Supporters Clubs from all over the UK who decided to have a hundreds aside football match on the bowling greens at the front with some poor old guy threatening to "call the carpers" ....cue a lone policeman on a bicycle ringing his bicycle bell furiously which didn't cut the mustard. (Colmans of course) Long since disbanded but still see faces at games home and away from that era, happy days when men could wear pastel colours with no questions asked.😉

As a Leeds fan, I think it's safe to say I won't be buying one! Unfortunately it will appeal to the younger crowd who like a bit of tacky bling. But I do subscribe to the miserable Old Git school who thinks anybody over 18 who wears a shirt made of shiny synthetic fibres, in garish colours emblazoned in advertising, is slightly sad and hasn't got a mirror in their house. It looks like something that would've been worn in the IPL a couple of years back

Good Friday nights in the Marsh House. Always a scrap but not usually between the Leeds and Town lads as they got on. Very true, some very handy lads on both sides went in there and we all just got along fairly amicably with the usual piss taking from both camps.Happy days from when Jimmy Rowan and family had it, always raise a smile when passing, such a shame its now a Coffee Shop or something.

From your story you'd be old enough to be their grandad, lol, they were late teens/early 20s. Though born in tbe 70's I only moved over this side of Huddersfield myself in the last 20 years so found your post very interesting as I was unaware of that being the case with the Marsh House etc. Which was the Golcar pub out of interest? In hd2 prior to me moving you didn't tend to get too many out of the closet Leeds fans and I never knew you had anything like that in the 80's over here.

Me and Marsh were part of a big group of mates that went everywhere together. Mix of Town and Leeds with a bit of Man U thrown in for good measure. We were a pretty tight group that looked out for each other but generally it was quite peaceful. Maybe that's the way it should always be!

In hd2 prior to me moving you didn't tend to get too many out of the closet Leeds fans and I never knew you had anything like that in the 80's over here. Born in late 60's they could be offspring of my Leeds associates maybe? Pub in Golcar was Rising Sun from memory but only a brief stay with a few official meetings in there as we had a few members from Golcar, but don't think locals were as tolerant to us as back in Marsh. We only formed as an official club as a means to get Away Tickets easier and joined up with Dewsbury, Heck, Cleck, Brighouse and Batley Whites to fill a coach, or occasionally 2 Coaches for bigger games. Our Huddersfield Fanbase was mainly from Marsh/Lindley but with scatterings from Golcar, Meltham, Dalton, Waterloo,Taylor Hill, Denby Dale and Flockton but died a natural death in the 90's as folk got married, had kids and grew up. Some real crackpots on there but characters all and even The Flying Fan at Oxford was one of our number from Brighouse. Remember after one Away game, can't have been too far away, maybe Derby as was back in Town for 7pm meeting up with Town mates (you had been at Home that day as is always the way) one of my Town mates asked to look at my programme......no problem this was passed round to a few who were vaguely interested until the last one in line passed it to no other than Gladstone, the black guy with a beret who kicked off big time and even his fellow Town Fans, my mates had to keep their heads down for a few weeks.

If you can tell a Gladstone story does it get you Priority 1 for life? Hope not 😜 Heard a most excellent story today to do with the big yellow skips new manager turning up for his very first get together with his new team, and having to leave suddenly due to having a panic attack. More comedy gold from the Beeston caravan site if true plus the purveyor of the tale was a young unfortunate Leeds fan at work.
