As a result of its major upgrade, the Tube's Victoria Line can now operate at 36 trains/hour (peak times). Trains are pulling into its stations every 100 seconds....on the global stage, only Moscow (at 95 seconds) betters this.
Much of this increase in capacity is down to improved, digital signalling systems. If similar signalling was universally applied across the mainline network, its capacity could be increased by an average of 50%-plus.

When any Apollo mission landed on the moon, the effluents discharged from the descent and ascent stage engines (approximately 10 tonnes) was the same mass as the planet's atmosphere.

In which case, did you know that several stations, including Aldgate & Farringdon, are built on top of plague pits? Aldgate is estimated to have around 1000 bodies underneath it to this day, all laid in neat lines, crisscrossing each other, in holes around 20-feet deep (probably from the Great Plague of the 1660s). Meanwhile, excavations from the Crossrail development put the Farringdon figure at potentially 50,000 from the Black Death period.

The 160m tall, BA i360 observation tower in Brighton is the world's slenderest tower......it has a height:width ratio of 40:1.

The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda in Shanxi province, China, is the oldest timber tower in the world. The 67m tall structure was constructed in 1056 AD.
This exquisite building formed part of the Fogong Buddhist temple. Through its near-1,000 year life, it has withstood storms, tempests, earthquakes, wars......yet still looks immaculate. The wooden structure stands unattached to its stone foundations, and doesn't contain a single nail....all joints are timber only.
And it is a very beautiful building.

Interesting. Ponce de Leon didn't land in Florida until 1513. Must've been a lot of word of mouth from the islands (including telling Ponce de Leon that the Fountain of Youth was there). I've been to where he landed in St Augustine.

If you dig a hole straight through the earth & jump into it, you will come out of the other side in 42 minutes & 12 seconds.

With a presumed life span of over 500 years, it’s safe to say that every plastic bottle you have ever used, exists somewhere on the planet, in some form or another.

I was (sort of) ok when I tried it, (I wore a parachute) so as I came out of the other side, I pulled the cord & I just drifted back down to earth.....thing is, I landed on a main road in Sydney & got run over by a bus

On average 4 containers fall off ships into the oceans every day. source : David Attenborough - Blue Planet 2. I'd give David's "facts" a wide berth. He has a severe green agenda, which is often clearly just made up. On Blue Planet, a baby whale died. He blamed, with no proof what so ever, poisoning caused by chemicals present in plastic in the ocean. There are, 1,260,000,000,000,000,000,000 Litres of water in the seas, to get a strong enough leak of plastic chemicals to cause a solution strong enough to cause an issue, say 1%, you'd need around 1,260,000,000,000,000,000 KG's of plastic or 1,260,000,000,000,000 tonnes. I don't even know what a figure that big is, but it would equate to 165,789 Tonnes of plastic for every person alive on the planet. Bear in mind we drink out of plastic cups and store water in plastic bottles. It's just the latest green fad, after global warming is starting to wear off, acid rain has gone and the ozone layer has fixed itself.

When they monitor sewerage in the Mediterranean, or fish stocks in the North Sea, or radioactive waste from Fukushima into the North Pacific, is the normal scientific protocol to divide the findings across every drop of water on the Planet? Is it bollocks. There are concentrations and clusters. A 7 year old can tell you that. Do you ever stop to think about anything you copy and paste from other forums?

I believe there are premiums paid for having your container sited on the bottom or inner parts of the stacks? Not sure how that would work with logistics and on/off loading, but I'm sure there's an element of truth in it...

Higher concentrations of plastic in the middle of the Pacific? Nice one Trigger. Care to explain how salinity of all oceans only varies between 30-38 Parts Per Thousand then? that's only a variation of 0.8% across the whole planet from Arctic to Mediterranean. Tell me how plastic chemicals are immune from diffusion in a liquid.
