Me and a couple of lads decided to go and watch fc emley today for something to do and was suprised how many town fans with town gear on where there too is it somewhere thats popular with town fans, was a great game 4-3 to emley and only £5 to get in and you can get a drink and take it onto the terrace, decent set up up there.

Happy memories of trips to Wembley and Upton Park.
Some of their players in late 80s and early 90s were better than some of the ones turning out for Town. I guess being a bank clerk / bricklayer / butcher and picking up an appearance fee paid better than turning professional?

Charlie Bradshaw, scored lots of goals and Spurs were after him. Just seen he sadly died aged 43 In 2005

remember emley playing cup match at leeds road against bolton if my memory serves me right Aye. Lost 3-0 from memory. Remember rushing on after playing for Battyeford Boys and getting in for the 2nd half. They beat Chorley Borough 1-0 in a replay at Chorley to get through. Went to that with my old man.

Emley under Gerry Quinn were excellent, miles above where they should have been. Shame the ground held them back. Remember a bloke called Tunnicliffe, tonabricks, eat a full cooked chicken before a game. Stan Rowlands of Battyeford fame used to be a massive fan up there. Had some very happy days home and away with my Dad following Emley.

They had the good Hurst too, we bought the shit one. Postman I think, the shit one. Glynn went on to score shed loads in Scotland and at Chesterfield I think. Typical Town.

Always consider them a Huddersfield club but isn't it actually nearer Barnsley? Brighouse Town seem most upwardly mobile nonleague club in the area but they never seem to have the connection with Town that Emley did. Incidently what happened to the Wakefield team the original Emley FC merged with?

Golcar Utd will soon be challenging them Not without a significant upgrade on their current facilities they won’t.

I drove to Kidderminster in 1991(?) to watch them in the FA Trophy Quarter-Final. They were thrashed 3-0 on a miserable wet day in April (I think).

Golcar United lost to Lower Hopton Working Men’s Club in the Cup. Seems a long way from even the shit Emley of today.

Never really gained a following at Belle Vue, after a relegation or two they moved to Thornes Park Athletics stadium then wound up a few years ago. Wakefield just isn't a football town.

I played for Emley Under 11's when the junior teams also played at the Welfare ground......Happy days.
Shelley FC are another upwardly mobile local team that are good to watch when Town aren't playing. Good facilities up at Storthes hall.

Watched Emley a few times years ago as I knew a lad who played for them around the time of their Cup run where they played at the McAlpine. Wearing Town gear to go watch another side though.

Good following at Upton Park. Town match at Bournemouth had been postponed. I'd actually set off to that Bournemouth game that day. Don't know why they didn't postpone it the day before.
