Hopefully not. He was one of the main reasons for our lack of goals. We need wingers who will supply the ammunition for our strikers, not show ponies. #AdamHamill The difference with Hammill was that he produced the goods.

Hopefully not. He was one of the main reasons for our lack of goals. We need wingers who will supply the ammunition for our strikers, not show ponies. If that was remotely true then the fact he's barely appeared for Town this season should have seen us kick on? He wasn't necessarily the answer for us but he was at least the best winger in the squad, and you could argue that's not a great benchmark, but he was not the 'main' reason for our lack of goals. The reason for that goes far deeper and is related to how we setup the team and how we attack as a team. VLP played most of last season when we were the joint lowest scorers in the division and his lack of end product for the strikers was the reason we signed 3 wingers in the summer. The fact that they proved to be no better is another matter.

The difference with Hammill was that he produced the goods. Let's get him back then. He's only at Scunthorpe so he could be tempted.

I think van la parra is more productive than mbenza and diakhaby though. I really don't get that at all. VLP had 2 full seasons to produce and rarely did. I don't think Mbenza and Diakhaby have had anywhere near enough chances, and not in a team setup to exploit their talent, to be judged. I really hope to see an aggressive, attacking setup next season which will play to their strengths.

VLP has had his day. He’s what 27/28? How is he suddenly going to change his whole style of play into a productive, goal-scoring winger? Mbenza and/or Diakhaby may or may not be the answer but they have potential and more importantly youth on their side. They can be moulded.

Hopefully get Lolley next season, been v good. Let it go Nick. We don’t need him. He’s been very good in a bit an miss forest team. Worked out elsewhere and seemingly not here. Like a bad ex girlfriend, leave it alone

I think VLP was as much a victim of our slow, sideways, safety first build up as anyone...Most of the time he got the ball, looked up and there was no bugger to cross to..Mounie' or Depoitre were yards behind him..so what does he do, hold up the ball, get surrounded by defenders, play it back to Schindler... I think jans more attack minded set upwould suit VLP far more and maybe Jan will bring him back just to have a look...?

Always rated him. Yes, he’s frustrating as hell and his end product can leave a lot to be desired, but that’s why he’s not playing at a higher level. Perfectly good in the Championship.

No consistency one good game a year even in the Championship we need players who bring something to the game week in week out time we moved on.

What are you babbling on about we have tested the opposition defence and keeper far more without him in the side. I would like to see players who can play at a better level than VLP a must if we want to go back up and stay.

Like him or not. It’s true about him creating space for others. He’s also key to moving the ball forward quickly and was a regular under Wagner last time we were in the Championship. I like him. He’s an exciting player to watch and I think he will have a lot to prove when/if he returns.

VLP can carry a ball forward and release the pressure. Then fall down. And cause pressure. He can beat a man. Then beat him again. Then fall over. He's a rank average championship/below player that thinks he's better than he is. Picture him striding to the Middlesbrough training ground with his cronies on deadline day. I've spent more time playing than him since, and I'm 42 kicking about with my 9yo in a car park.

Not sure it’s understood why VLP isn’t getting game time at Boro. He’s playing for a coach who is totally negative. So much so that when they were 2-1 down last week, in the 2nd half he replaced Assombolonga his main striker with a full back! I know this because I have a Boro supporting neighbour. The real mystery is why Pauli’s wanted him in the first place.

I think his defensive abilities are also under rated. He often tracked back and won the ball.
