i like it in here. Happy to put up with the wums. Nicks a bit painful, but yeah fine. It’s a tiny piece of my life but a bit I like. It’s proper shit supporting town right now, but it will be good again and we’ll you just don’t quit, it’s just who you support and part of the bit of being me and the bit of being you, be honest, that’s who we are. I’m upset about our admins. They are making this a worse place. Good folk are leaving, wums are left alone for too long.
I’ve seen some great and touching posts and this is probably the closest thing us blokes have (apologies to our ladies)to a support group it is for me anyway. The stuff on depression and support that’s been given WAS/is amazing.
Im pissed off with our admins. They are making this a soul less place.
If you don’t care about the place and the people, admins - fuck off. This place and club are bigger than you. Stop poncing about, you are embarrassing.

I get pissed off with the admins, particularly what seems like completely inconsistent rulings, but what's happening on here isn't their fault. The quality of posts is degrading alarmingly quickly. Debate is getting rarer and instead slagging matches occur too regularly.
I'd rather the admins did nothing and we, the posters, self-regulated. Stop replying to WUMs and attention seeking posters and actually talk about football. I genuinely do not see the attraction of coming on here with the sole intention of winding people up or pissing them off. In fact, I feel sorry for posters who feel the need to do that to get some sort of pleasure in their life.

The admins do a tough job but and the end of the day they are just posters like everybody else.
They are making basic mistakes right now though, mistakes that breach the very rules that were put in place to help them maintain the forum. Personally, I think the rules and reporting systems are horseshit anyway, they were only implemented fairly recently (we all know why), so why we suddenly need them is questionable.
Admins shouldn't have the power to give folk lifetime bans - it's a forum, on the internet for fucks sake.
I was working yesterday and had the occasional look at the forum, and I see boring thread after boring thread. What a bunch of boring bastards I thought to myself, and I'm one of them. Fuck that.
All the characters are being removed. All the humour is being removed. All the soul is being removed.
What a fucking shame - this forum used to be ace.

I have been an admin on here 7 years (granted I did take a bit of time off) and if I am being honest , this forum has declined into a place where people do not debate , they engage in slagging matches
Also , if we were to let the forum self regulate, quite a few of you could be open to legal issues..

Another point Kenny, this may be a non footballing thread, but a discussion on how to keep the forum active, is more important than discussing the price of a kids away ticket at West Ham. Do you not agree? Moving it to a section of the forum where the vast majority of posters won't see it, is the wrong thing to do. I'll tag you in this terrierdaz because you keep asking me to PM you on how I'd improve the forum, well this is one of those suggestions. |

This is indeed just a football forum, but there are rules. Don't break them and you won't get banned, it's not rocket science.
Hopefully DATM will go back towards the better place it was before promotion, and we will see the return of some decent posters. Not interested in "characters" who appear to post simply as the equivalent of loving the sound of their own voice.

But it was still agreed that the reasons for locking threads would be added to the relevant thread. Mountain and molehill spring to mind. Mole, you're clearly trying to find any excuse at the moment; it's getting boring. The reporting system has been used since pretty much the beginning of the forum.
Generally we don't do much at all. You only have to look at the action log to see that. This board is largely self regulating in any event, and arguments tend to peter out before we need to do anything about it.
However, the only reason we have to do anything is because grown adults on here are occasionally incredibly immature. I don't understand why people can't just ignore posts or posters they don't like - it's really not that difficult. I also don't get why people allow themselves to rise to people who insult them - who cares what people say about you on an internet forum; just ignore it. By way of example, you got your warning, Impact, because you failed to just ignore a post that a person you believed was a WUM made - why not just ignore it? In any event, you've only had a mild slap on the wrist - it's hardly a big deal. The reports that you subsequently made on posters were dealt with as we deemed appropriate - a number of them led to posters receiving warnings/bans or proved to be unnecessary because the poster deleted their own account.
At the end of the day, if people behaved like adults on here and took a moment to consider before firing off a post, we would have very little admin work to do on here. It's because people post without thinking that we are put in a position where we need to make a decision, and whether we take action or not we inevitably annoy at least one person on here.

Still, i appreciate some folk liked him. Different strokes for different folks, and that is my point. Nick, Moaner, Marcus, Enoch, LDR, Dinsdale and the rest - all contributed something in their own right. |
