Glad to see that there is still a lot of love for old Bazza!
In reality, he was a prick, completely out of his depth.

All seemed great after the Liverpool cup game, even though we lost we lost well, then the inconceivable act of selling Stewart summed up this guys incompetence.

He admitted he knew nothing about football, he used advisers who did. Unfortunately one was his Leeds idol,Trevor Cherry, who told him to sell Stewie cos he wouldn't be good enough if we went up 😡

Looks in better shape than I am and he's over 15 years older. I will have long given up wanting to work by the time I'm 71 too so fair do's if he has the drive to carry on. If he'd insisted we paid back all the money we owed him when he quit we might still be in the lower leagues now. Naieve and poorly advised, said it on here many times before. We played some good stuff early on under Bruce ater buying players we wouldnt have been able to afford without the Rubery money. Much worse under the Davy/Ternent days.

Was Stewart rattling Barry's missus, or is that just the stuff of urban legend? There's always lots of rumours about cross shagging at our club. Because of this, I've heard that the new owner is contemplating changing our name to Huddersfield Orgy Town Club. Or HOT Club for short. I wouldn't mind coming to that.

Whatever happened at board level, it doesn't sound like Bruce tried to keep him at all. Which is strange considering he was our star player. Maybe Stewart was banging his wife as well?

Odd thing was from that era, was that he was so unaware of the scale of the debt of the club...It was reported that soon as he found out how much Bruce has spent he abandoned ship...and think he wrote off several £m of debt too... I lay the blame squarely at the door of Ian Ayre for the way the Rubery era panned out. His marriage went pear shaped didn't it therefore he quickly lost interest, like fly by night wealthy owners with no affinity to the club tend to do. If it wasn't then it would probably have been the season after or the one after that.

Surely he was well down on his investment though and could have insisted on (much) more or have had the club liquidated. I think your post needs expansion TBF.
