People forget how young seaweed is, this is his first proper role as a manager and was thrown well and truly into the deep end. This is not the first time jan has been highly spoken of so he obviously has genuine quality he just needs 6-12 months to implement his own ideas. I think this is a real sensible and smart appointment someone who jan knows and obviously trusts but has been around the game for many years. Makes it a lot more reassuring as a young manager knowing you have a level headed experienced coach along side you, should help to bring on Hudson and siewert. Very happy with this

Asking for a friend Well when you see your team appoint someone who your manager has previously worked with it instantly gives you confidence. It obviously didn’t work out so we move on. But he’s got an experienced head and knows siewert so you have to be pleased and hope he can steady the ship but also improve Hudson aswell

My point being that you could have said exactly the same about the other guy . I won't be getting too excited until we start winning games to be honest

If his coaching ability and man management skills are anywhere near as good as he comes across in the interview, then we've got a good addition to the coaching team. His vast experience will help both Siewert and Hudson. Best interview from a club employee in a long time. Nice to hear him take the piss out Lee Clark's assistant with the cone quip

Comes across very well... hopefully he’s the real deal. Man City have a stand called the Colin Bell stand, so he must be good.

On the announcement I was shocked , it didn’t seem a fit however having listened to his interview ( of which he had me totally engaged throughout with his articulate take on things) I am now more on board with not only his appointment but also that of Siewart and I have to admit I have been more than worried.

First time I’ve seen the guy. Looks like a young Ronald Reagan but with evil eyebrows. I thought he has something Tom Cruise-y about him. But I haven't seen anyone move their head about and look up as much since Stevie Wonder

Yeah, him going to Germany to play at that point in time then working in the women's game suggests that he's broad-minded, open to new experiences and flexible in his thinking. All that comes through loud and clear in the interview too. Looking at pro managers and coaches from the outside those qualities often seem quite rare, with most having one way of doing things that they'll doggedly stick to until the game passes them by.
Like the look of this appointment.

Very impressive, although he does seem to have had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus. Lets hope his stay with us is for more than a couple of years.

After the interview, which was when terrier030702 sent his message, there was no comparison between the two. I don't remember reading similar praise for Herr Winkler.

BUT the guys rationale was based on the fact that the guy was experienced and knew siewert (same as winks) and NOT based on how he interviewed in the httv piece FWIW I liked how the guy int3rviwed but whether that translates into success who knows !!
