PIcking Quaner ahead of VLP tells me the manager has either an agenda or has little ability. The decision to bring Quaner on as a substitute v QPR helped cost us two points at the weekend. If VLP does not appear at least against Lincoln I doubt he will ever appear .... at least whilst Jan Siewert “manages”( and I use the word loosely ) the team and squad. I can not see how VLP is any worse than any other winger we have or have tried as a winger leaving aside his great ability at tracking back. A good manager would be picking whoever is at his disposal to find the recipe to win games. Every squad member should be part of the team striving for success. Even with the out goings this group of players are good enough to be aiming for top six in this division if coached & man managed in the right way. Sorry to say but this guy isn't the fit for our club. I didn't think anyone else would take the crown off Malcolm Macdonald & Prince Wadsworth. It's yours kid.... nah get thee sen darn road. |

Any manager - not just a good one - would be picking what he would consider to be the best 18 players to win the game - it’s his neck and livelihood on the line too when it all goes wrong. Whatever it is, there will be a reason VLP isn’t being selected, be it attitude, not showing enough in training, not fitting into the manager’s way of wanting to play (whatever that is😊) or wearing his hat indoors against club policy. If we don’t see him tomorrow, I think we can start to assume we won’t be seeing him at all unless something changes dramatically. If it is attitude, given what was allegedly said to Sabiri ( in some other thread) we might already be past the point of no return. |

He wasn’t setting world on fire end of last season was he?? More the issue is players tweeting openly about work. Don’t they have communications managers to deal with that or policy on what they can or can’t say? When players sign for a club there are strict rules in place about talking to the press/media. I know one particular lad that was down there 30 years ago and nothing much in that regard will have changed apart from the access to social media. Hodgkinson made it plain at the Q&A without referring to him by name that Billing was fined an eye watering sum. |

We have others that do take men on and create much more in the last third and we need forwards playing up front giving us a ball out not miles behind the striker. Who ? I've not seen these players Did you miss Diakhaby runs against Derby and QPR then that actually gave the other teams a problem. |

I saw a couple of runs from him but I dearly want him to get involved more (same with Isaac). The wingers in the 18, for me, would be VLP, Mbenza and Diakhaby. Unfortunately the manager seems to like using Pritchard, Kachunga and Quaner wide when none of them have pace, none of them can beat a man and none of them can cross a ball |

Easy to blame Jan for not playing him but has he been told not to because the club are trying to get him off the books? Can the club smell another quick profit before his contract runs out? Are they that desperate for another couple of mil that they're prepared to get rid of a player that would massively improve the squad? Worrying if so. One minute VLP is back raring to go, next he's saying he's been stabbled in the back and not in the squad. Fishy. So who's choice, the chairman's or Jans?

I find it weird how our fans turn on players for doing/saying the slightest negative thing, but then spend every minute slagging off the club at every turn. I appreciate we're not employees but in most cases we're talking about very minor comments and yet people like Billing and Zanka are the devil incarnate. And then it's ok for us to stick the boot in for a solid week. It's about time we applied a bit of the same defensive mentality to ourselves as we do to the players. Regarding VLP, I actually don't know what he has said or done. Apparently he has a bad attitude and is a fool to himself. No idea what his crime is to be honest.

I'm assuming that all this praise for VLP is tongue in cheek. He's a show-boater with virtually no end product to speak of. I've seen hundreds of wingers come and go at Town who couldn't have laced VLPs boots for technical ability and pace, but they could actually cross a ball to a player wearing the same shirt as them.

His body language says a lot, very much a confidence player - instead of crumpling, if he'd have scored after that mazy run we may be talking a different talk now. |
