That period of our history is done, to be looked back on with fondness.
He’s moved on, we have. It’s like thinking back to an ex, never go back and embarrass yourself.

Pathetic thread. The football under DW from well before he left was dreadful. Why on earth would you want that again?

Strange to judge him under those circumstances at the end IMO (Im talking about post Mounie sending off and Mooy injury). Obviously he aint coming back but lets not kid ourselves we wouldn't want him if it were possible! The football was generally a joy to watch, hence the full houses which will already be a thing of the past as will 18k season tickets.

Bloke gets club promoted on a shoestring playing a modern brand of football universally praised. Virtually doubles attendances. Keeps them in top flight on lowest wage budget in league. Turns sour for final couple of months during a spell of horrendous bad luck and injuries to key players, whilst being hopelessly outgunned financially. Seemingly sane people declare the period as dreadful 😂 Said manager moves on to manage a club 10 times the size regularly in the CL.

Wrong, it's cos he didn't play 442 so ergo everything he did was garbage.

David Wagner was, and still is,revered by Town fans - quite rightly. He helped us achieve a near impossible aim on very limited resources and will go down in the history of Huddersfield Town. The man is already a "legend" - a term that is used quite lightly nowadays and can therefore apply to him.
That said, his last twelve months at Town were very very disappointing - the results achieved, the statistics, the football played, the loss of identity/"no limits" etc and, for whatever reason he left before his reputation was sullied/relegation came/ his success was nullified. There were lots of suggested reasons - worn out/ lost enthusiasm/conscious of his reputation/tapped up by another team etc - and I suspect we will never know the real reason. Certainly the rot had set in long long before Jan Siewert/Phil Hodgkinson arrived - they had to try to pick up the pieces - unsuccessfully as yet.
He should be remembered for what he was at Town - brilliant and not so brilliant - and move on. I personally wouldn't be keen to see him back and, more importantly, he has moved on and up and understandably I suspect wouldn't dream of it.

Not sure how us drawing at man city and Chelsea to retain premiership status is disappointing. I've only seen us finish higher than 15th in the championship a handful of times in 45 years .. i think he had a disappointing last 6 weeks

DW had a unique set of circumstances going for him too..2 penalty shoots to win promotion, especially when we looked doomed against reading at one point. However I don't want to see any more passing across the back 4 time and time again even though we ended games with 70% possession. Time for a change, a new venture..attacking play, loads of goals... Would I sacrifice that extra attacking impetus for another promotion ? Now I've seen the PL,no thanks...not yet anyway. Let's have some fun for a year or two then go up...

Meanwhile back in Kirklees, we’ve grabbed a point at qpr, been beaten by derby, Fulham and Lincoln at home. I said it 8m ago when folks were heralding the arrival of exciting front foot football under seiwert - be careful what you wish for. I don’t want DW back - that ship has now sadly sailed......but unless we get someone with a strong plan or we find some money to invest in better quality then I fear a repeat of the same sacking managers every 18m because they haven’t lived up to the expectation DW raised considerably and beyond anybody’s wildest dreams. It’s a vital period now.........many fans including myself are simply bored with what we have seen for months now and are falling a little out of love with it all. Hopefully the spark will return soon.

Watching the tripe served up by players who seemingly don’t give a jot and inept cheap option managers who aren’t fit to be spoken of in the same sentence as Wagner. Oh aye.....it’s great fun. So much so, I bet there aren’t 15k fans in the stadium next sat............

Modern day football, splits the fans at clubs like ours down the middle. Quite a few would have accepted dour football for another season in the PL. I'd prefer a yo-yo club. Bit of real success now and again, as opposed to the 'success' of avoiding the bottom 3 every season.

If Wagner came back and appeared on an open top bus in St George’s square, I predict there would be as many people turn up to greet him than did for our promotion celebration.
