We have a very unbalanced squad. Our best option at left back is also our best centre half. Means we have to play Elphick who doesn’t look up to it to me. We have a boatload of wingers and forwards. We have one ‘creative’ option for the midfield, Reece Brown, who can’t get near the bench. Our other four midfielders are all fairly similar in the role they do for the club.
We do have some very talented players, but the balance is all wrong. Promotion season you could argue the overall quality of the squad was a bit below what we have now (e.g. Kongolo being better than Hefele etc). But that squad was balanced. We had two players for every position on the pitch. We had a squad built for 46+ games.
It seems a lack of Director of Football may have harmed us. We haven’t had any stability in this role and it’s reflecting onto the squad now.

We basically had a Championship elect squad in the Premier League. We sold or loaned out the decent Championship players, and bought an expensive dog and duck winger. Figures that we've now got a League One elect squad. If all the money has gone into players and agents pockets, say so. If it's all gone back to Dean, say so. It's a fucking farce at the moment.

I'd pick Schofield as well, dont think graba is particularly poor, but from the Lincoln showing we could probabaly have used the GK wages elsewhere to actually improve the squad. We needed a LB and AM or LW. Can we reintegrate young sabiri now seiwert has gone? He could play at 10 because pritchard looks like a northern conference player. Schofield may well turn out to be a very good keeper, not yet. Certainly nowhere near Grabara's level. He was better than Grabs on the Lincoln showing. Already deemed batter than coleman. He is more ready than brown, daly, high, rowe, Duhaney etc. Which is my point. We could have relied on him and coleman and used the GK fee and wages to address our main problems, defending and scoring.

You cannot fairly judge him on that basis.

If we picked schofield and Obrien in every game I doubt anyone would even notice. Edmonds green is probably the only other one that looks anything like first team.

Our 2nd XI defensive line:
German 4th tier player Lad who's only ever played for Brighouse Town and 1 LC appearance Stankovic Lad who has only ever played 1 league game, in league 2, for Exeter
Schindler and Kongolo would be the best centre half partnership in the league, no doubt, but because we can't recruit adequate backup, or even 1st choice players, we have to play him out of position.

Hogg can't be that solid,he was like a sloppy turd last night Hogg least of our worries in bigger picture Would agree, but he's been pap most of the season and arguably the worst of a bad bunch last night.

Looking at the squad they're very limited options and how many of our players are actually that good? Look at the 11 last night. Graba - looks poor sure better keepers would have been available. Flo - was dogshit last season but tbf he's been one of our better players in the first 4 games of this season. Elphick - carthorse, get rid. Schindler - solid at this level Kongolo - wasted at this left back Chalobah - will be a decent signing Hogg - solid championship player VLP - poor last night but hasn't played 1st team football in ages. More than good enough for us. Pritchard - needs to offer us something this season or get rid in the summer Mbenza - fuck off Grant - still a young footballer playing at a higher level than he's used to. Will he our main man this season. Subs Bacuna - finished last season really well, but has been poor so far this season. Misplaced passes etc. Needs to improve and up his game. Kachunga - works hard but not good enough anymore Diakhaby - get on next flight to France Campbell - will be a good signing just needs to get match fit. Brown - not seen much of him Schofield - kept us in it against a poor Lincoln side last midweek. Would have him as number one personally. O'brien - always does okay when he plays Then look at the players that weren't involved. Mounie - presume he's off. Personally would keep him but Phil will want to make a quick buck Quaner - nice guy but dining off Hillsborough. Get rid. Koroma - A non league man, but we signed him deserves a run of games. Bockhorn - a German Sunday league player Brown - did well at forest Green, give him a game Flo & Elphick not good enough. Call me old fashioned, but prefer defenders, who can tackle!

There are plenty of free agents kicking about. The next manager may look to bring in one or two of those, IF Hodgkinson allows it. I would even check on Danny Williams and offer a pay as you play or rolling contract

Quality is definitely as much as issue as quantity for us. Said it after the Fulham game that they kept their best players and added some players who can basically piss on most teams in this league (Knockaert and Cavaleiro) and were able to bring on Bobby Reid up front as well. We've basically got rid of a load of players with PL/Championship/International experience and replaced them with a couple of older guys and, with all due respect to them, some kids that we're taking a punt on. The difference in quality is absolutely ridiculous, even just in terms of players we can bring off the bench.

Grabara has been one of the few positives so far this season, we could of been conceding a lot more without him in net!

No he was not, he made some good saves granted but nothing Grabara hasn't already. Schofield purely and simply isn't ready yet on distribution alone. Championship teams would bury him imo.

Now we have dropped we are getting shut of them.

Did you not go to the Derby game then? He looked totally clueless. Yeah right. Overall your comments were not to far off, but you look clueless IMO as far as Granada comments. Are we renting a TV and Video?
