I'm not from Huddersfield but I believe the town centre is on its arse, 20 years ago Dewsbury lost its M&S and that was the start of a slow lingering death, even the once famous market is now a waste of space. The reason I'm replying to you though Nick is I've seen your waste of money comments in the Canalside thread, you also state the town is dead, if that's true then surely it makes more sense to have state of the art training facilities? Players, Coaches, Managers etc will all be influenced by them, remember LDP slated the toilets and parking while he was here, it's easy as a fan to mock that attitude but it's what the club are up against with modern day players, so players are happy to train here and they can keep their other half happy by shopping in Leeds, Manchester , York and Sheffield all within a short drive in their Range Rover cars, we also have Summer Wine country on the doorstep which helps. The people with the biggest problem are Kirklees Council, Dewsbury town centre is to all intents finished ( I live there ), if it's main town, Huddersfield goes the same way then what ? Most of KMC tax payers aren't on football players wages and don't have the freedoms that disposable income brings, there is hope, Wakefield and Bury are doing OK, Lincoln where the Cowley brothers seem so happy has a nice town centre, and Adkins' last club, Hull the town centre is much improved. All these places have unpleasant districts around them I know but so does everywhere else. Any Town players and managers could easily live in Summer Wine Country, as you say. Who wouldn’t find that attractive? ? That’s a selling point on its own. LOTSWC is attractive, but if you need to pass through an increasingly dangerous shithole to get there and back, it does reduce the attractiveness somewhat.

That all may be true but it's still an attractive location to spend an afternoon with your family, like wise with Howarth, I wouldn't go to Bradford but we do go to Howarth. However the point I was making is the training facilities will help attract players, it's then down to the club to sell the area or all the places close by to appeal to their families. I prefer Haworth myself Me too. Holmfirth is way overrated.

Puerile comments - why are these not censored ? Says the king of puerile comments or is your sexist shite somehow different perhaps on a par with your normal drivel ? - or do I beat you in that department as well ?

They went to look at the shocking town centre area first and lack of retail shopping and no marks and sparks, deal breaker ? I'm not from Huddersfield but I believe the town centre is on its arse, 20 years ago Dewsbury lost its M&S and that was the start of a slow lingering death, even the once famous market is now a waste of space. The reason I'm replying to you though Nick is I've seen your waste of money comments in the Canalside thread, you also state the town is dead, if that's true then surely it makes more sense to have state of the art training facilities? All these places have unpleasant districts around them I know but so does everywhere else. The whole country is in a state! You can make town and city centres look prosperous until you're blue in the face but the hard facts are that the slide began 30-40 years ago. Out of town shopping centres began to spring up and ever since the knife for centre outlets has been turned ever so slowly. Internet banking and shopping continues to aid this slow death with banks closing their smaller branches and even some of their bigger ones. Remember when you could go down to your local village branch?? Who has one these days? I remember when there were sometimes 4 banks in surrounding villages around Huddersfield. Then it's no coincidence the largest retailer is internet based. The problem is we want all this! We want our lives to be easier. The concept of having everything at our fingertips. The touch of a button and we've purchased a TV. Delivered next day by a van driver on a zero hours contract from Eastern Europe. Are we all responsible for the way the country operates? I think so. It's a social responsibility for all of us and the end is nowhere in sight. There won't be anything left if it carries on the way we are going. Nobody talks..unless it's via social media. People buried in their phones. Life has simply become boring and people need to wake up. Go to a restaurant and a family of four don't even interact. Kids watch tablets whilst mum and dad monitor facebook or instagram. What chance is there for people to talk when it doesn't happen within the boundaries of family life? Just my opinions really. Oh and before I forget I just want Town to get the right man for the job. Who that is I don't know. There are numbers of managers who are out of work. Adkins could fit that criteria, however something needs to happen to stop the circus show that is going on at the JSS. Being a Town fan has not been much fun for the last year or so.

I don't think footballers want to live in some rustic backwater with weird neighbours. Posh suburbs with big villas for them. Last of the summer wine was shite as well. Who doesn’t love three old men going down a hill in a bath tub! ?

There are some stunning places to live around Hudds and its slap bang in the middle of Leeds, Manc with Sheffield close by. For a footballer with a huge salary and time on his hands I dont think you can go too far wrong, just dont venture into Hudds town centre unless its Kingsgate or near the railway station as its now become a depressing shithole like a lot of Town centres.

Me too, went there the other day. Brilliant little place. ...except for those parasites sat in the car park watching and waiting to pounce for the slightest real or imagined infringement, such as a tyre one thousandth of an inch over a non-existent parking bay dividing line.

Especially if you're a player who has lived on the continent, coming to our town will be a real eye opener.
Beautiful areas around it, but badly neglected by central government, local government, and many residents who don't give a flying....
