Don't remember seeing that. At least those are plays on names and slightly amusing. Whatever floats your boat i suppose. You have mentioned four, after googling. Thats four from perhaps 10,000 top class managers across the main countries in my adult lifetime. A very, very short list. Also you dont really manage a national team....it picks itself....so your list is 2. As i haven't mentioned anyone are you sure you're replying to the correct poster oti? 😉 |

I suspect what has happened here is a premature ejaculation. Talks are probably being finalised with Adkins, possibly centring around personal terms/backroom staff/money available for transfers - who knows!. Somebody has got wind of this and leaked it. Then this doesn't do anybody any good if we can't reach an agreement with him. The coach that does come in will realise that he is third or even fourth choice. |

I would dispute the field you’re considering of top class managers is as wide as 10,000 too. More like 100 or 200...which means that 4 (and there obviously will be more, like the Wolves chap mentioned) is saying that a goalkeeper is just as likely as any other specific individual position to become a manager. How many left back footballers have gone on to be great managers?? (I know I’m also quoting the wrong person, but I’m not going to get a straight answer anyway!!🤷♂️🤣) |

If it's him we get, might not be the exotic name some were hoping for but he's a safe pair of hands.
Southampton played some great stuff under him and got promoted with plenty of home-grown young players who moved on for big money. It's a yes from me.

Valid that the dof may not fancy him though, you always assume working together they get on but the opposite may be the case. Imo he was a standout candidate and I would have thought both sides would/should be keen to talk at least. Just hope we’re not trying to be clever again, recent business has proved we’re pretty far from being clever when it comes to recruitment. |

Give it 2 years and the Crowley’s will be a busted flush. Dealing with non-league players is a world away from starting a fresh at a pro club. Get a club some momentum and they quickly climb the leagues: look back over the last decade at teams who’ve come from non-league to League 1 or even the Championship. The bubble bursts, they invariably edge down the ladder and the managers who got them there rarely repeat the fete at a higher level. Burton: Clough did nothing anywhere else Yeovil: Johnson did nothing anywhere else I could go on. Can anyone name a manager who was plucked from League 1 or below who has had a successful career, besides Adkins? Gary Johnson got Bristol City up from League 1, then got them a Championship playoff Final, then a top 10 finish. Even when he left them by mutual consent they were comfortably mid-table in the Championship. So....away from Yeovil I'm not sure Johnson did nothing anywhere else. A proper 'football man' of Johnson's mould is exactly what Town need right now. They need a no nonsense, no thrills no spills boot up the arse! |
