Interesting blog from a Terriers fan. www.terrierblog.co.uk/post/preston-3-huddersfield-1-the-worst-game-of-football-ever-playedI'm not saying PNE played pretty football but with our best two players missing from this game ( both mid fielders ) I said we would probably play long ball. Page 3 of this thread. Maybe your manager should have read this forum or one of you should have sent him a text. It was pretty obvious how we'd play the game.... We did what we had to to get the three points. Job done. Manager " lets not hide behind referee decisions" That guy is a complete cock I just wish he'd go away he's an embarrassment to the fan base

OK. I'm off. See you all in a few months, hopefully for a top 6 game. Just leave you with this: Do us a favour and whallop Blackburn when you play them.

I agree that we are similar sized clubs which is why I’m incredulous that, given their phenomenal home record, a good ground, the number of goals they score, their genuine promotion chances, that they can’t get more fans to go and watch them. We had nearly as many when we were chasing promotion out of the 4th division in 2003/04. You are right, PNE fans are crap, we have low attendances, a ground too big for us, similar priced season tickets, a time in the prem, not the 1st month in years when we are in the top 6, etc etc. We're crap supporters. Happy? You're not the first to mention it. We dont care. You're not the first person with the 'we are a bigger club than you' syndrome to mention it. Leeds must hate playing you! As in my previous post I don't like any clubs fans banging on how shite a rival is because they get smaller crowds, a few years ago I overheard a couple of Rochdale fans as I walked towards Spotland, moaning about their arrogant bastard neighbours from Bury, "We get it, you've won the FA Cup, you're a much bigger club than us, you get twice as many fans as us but we still above you in the league !" - sums it up perfectly for me. Our crowd base is what it is, far better than a lot of teams have but far smaller than some others, as far back as 79/80 when we won the 4th Division we averaged over 10,000 but started out with just over 3,000 for the first home game and hypotenuse picked 2003/04 to poke you with but under Bruce with a wealthy owner wanting a push to the PL ( for personal gain, not for any love of the football club ) our attendances were very similar to yours now, so people in glass houses and all that....... As for the game on Saturday, I thought the ref was really poor, nothing new there, but you bullied or bossed us out of it, closing down, denying space and worked hard for each other, I don't think you're a great footballing outfit but if you can keep what you have for the remaining 2/3 of the season I think you will finally get your day in the sun, funny enough on the way over I said PNE must be the last of the 92 that haven't had a shot in the PL that you would have expected to by now. Providing it doesn't come at any ( further ) cost to my club I for one would wish you well, I'd far rather PNE than Wendies or Beeston or other self entitled "big" teams like Derby or Forest and take it from me if you do get there, you'll fill your ground and sell out all your away allocations as well, but that isn't all good news either !!

You are not reading what I wrote. I do not believe we are a bigger club than you. I wouldn’t write what I did if I was referring to Burton Albion. I said that you are a very similar club to us, similar town, similar tradition, similar ground capacity, similar recent history. I was wondering why, given that we are VERY FUCKING SIMILAR, that you struggled to attract supporters given your excellent form, excellent home record, loads of goals etc. I was not in any way denigrating PNE. Grow up a little and perhaps try to explain to me why the townsfolk of Preston are so reluctant to get down to Deepdale.

It would cost approximately the same as we've paid per season for the last three years, to buy a half season card at Deepdale.

OK - now for the facts as you don’t present these accurately. 1. We didn’t average over 10000 in our 79/80 promotion season. Gates everywhere were not great at that time. Our average wasn’t even 9000. However, that was better or similar to half of the clubs TWO divisions higher at the time. 2. In the season you allude to 99/00, our five pre-Christmas home games had gates (in thousands, to nearest thousand) were 12, 15, 14, 13, 14 (only one of which had any notable away support. These are NOT comparable with current day as they reflect the ACTUAL number of spectators and NOT the tickets sold. To give you an idea of how gates have changed, aggregate attendance in the 2nd tier was 7.8 million in 1999/2000 and, more recently, was just over 11.3 million (an increase of more than 30%). This means comparisons are fraught with danger. 3. I was NOT trying to ‘bait’ or have a go at any PNE supporter. I didn’t realise there was one on the thread and am not sure why opposition supporters come on here (though what he wrote was generally pretty fair). I was responding to a comment from 28901 in which he had a gentle ‘pop’ at me. There was absolutely no intention of goading any opposition supporters. You could read every thread I’ve ever written and I never do that.

Bit late, I know, but I've only just come across these. Plenty more of these on my WEBSITE.

Thought Preston & their tactics & the Ref, were disgraceful! Alex Neil is an arsehole! - UTT. If he's offended by the way opposing managers speak to his players, maybe it's as well this guys 'retired'?
