That our match at Wigan Athletic was difficult was no surprise. What was surprising was the subdued performance. The Latics played poorly; indeed the home supporters around me were moaning that the dynamism that they had seen against WBA was missing. However, we were also off our game. Grabara's brain fade apart, we defended pretty well and played some decent football in midfield but not only was our final ball into the box consistently poor we reverted to playing sideways and backwards when incisive, even Route One, football was indicatered against our limited opponents. Having said all that, it is another useful away point and, having made several steps forward recently, a half step back is understandable.
Saturday brings a return home against Nottingham Forest in what is always an attractive fixture. Despite yesterday's home 4-0 walloping at the hands of Jordan Rhodes and Sheffield Wednesday, the Tricky Trees are still handily placed in 8th, just a point outside the playoffs with a match in hand. They are, though, are in something of a dip in form having just two points from their last four outings. Another awkward game beckons and Forest have a 551 away record, but I see us getting a point out of this clash.

Made it harder by their shocking home defeat ! We have been totally depleted and never have a settled side ! Also a very poor keeper ! Hopefully O brien is back in the team ! Imo tbh

Having taken 4 points from 6, I think this is the game for the Cowleys to let rip, attack, attack, attack hopefully will be the message, all this safe football is doing no favours to players confidence.
Football is about scoring goals, not all this negative nervous passing away from goal.
I await in anticipation to attack out of our skins.

Would love to agree with you, but could you tell me who is going to score our goals, apart from Grant ? Certainly not our midfield and it's even less likely that a goal will come from the wings.

In a nutshell, I agree other players should not rely on good old grant to bail the team out in games it is getting embarrassing. I am meaning get the team more advanced and get players in the box. Yet again we are relying on a few players to bail us out defensively causing an unbalanced team, which the Cowleys are aware of. End of the day the team should pull together and say you know what let's stop fing about and have a go.

Agree with the sentiment, but you need to add Bacuna to that, he's scored more than his fair share for his position and minutes on the pitch.

I really hope we receive no bids for Grant in January because if he goes we're deep in the dog doings and j hope that they have some signings lined up that can contribute goals too.

He said that a couple of players will be back so hopefully a much improved line up.
Grabara (we will still play him even after Saturday) Simpson Schindler stankovic Hadergjonaj Hogg Bacuna Kachunga O’Brien Campbell Grant
Tough game but let’s rip them a new one.
Lolley will inevitably score so 2–1 Town. .

Again, agree, I wasn't arguing the point about Grant, just Bacuna's key stats are equally impressive, all things considered. Hopefully Campbell plays more than he's out, as he'll score whilst allowing Grant to play to his strengths. We also need to sign at least one player who can chip in from elsewhere. I'd have been tempted for Jed Wallace, who could hit the ground running, but don't think that's realistic now.

He is not a risk taker and likes to control things. He made a telling comment earlier in the season (I forget in which pre-match build up it was - perhaps someone could find it) - that we are not in a position to outplay the better teams and take them on in a open game, and until we are we need to play a certain way to get results.

I think you need to flip flop Grant and Campbell's positions in your lineup because if they are both in the starting XI Grant will always be the one playing wider.

Look at the heat maps of Grant, Koroma, Flo and Mounie (just click the players in the link shared below)...we could likely have played with 10 men with Grant or Koroma having a rest for the first hour and seen no real difference...and maybe it’s no surprise in that case that when Koroma made way, then Flo got into the game a lot more effectively too, rather than the three of them spending the first hour treading on each other’s toes. Cowley is correct, Grant is an attacking left sided player, not a striker. Let’s hope Campbell is back soon, because Mounie whilst improving, seems to run out of steam in only 15 mins or so (although was that his illness perhaps?) after looking reasonably lively when he came on. www.sofascore.com/huddersfield-town-wigan-athletic/Zsjb

We really need to start getting other players on the scoresheets. Our reliance on grant is beyond a joke.
The number of time our midfield get in a position to shoot yet choose to pass is ridiculous and they need to start standing up

Never afraid of shooting but gets pelters when he does and misses. Great little player and I'm willing to bet there's even more to come.

It's the wide players that need to start chipping in with goals.
