As told to me by the current owner of a current Premier League club, the purchase price is nil, the agreement is all Directors Loans to be repaid from the income of the club ove4 an agreed period. PH agreed to this deal, He'd be mad to turn it down really if he had always dreamt of owning the club It was a great deal for both of them

PH definitely paid a decent 7 figure fee for 75%.

Struggling to find articles from the time but when Dean invested in the club, initially acquiring 30% and then eventually full control, was it covered by an NDA?
I'm sure I remember it saying the exact amount he would pay and that Davy would be matching anything he invested up to a certain point

Question Would you trust an unqualified, ill informed individual to perform surgery on you? Answer No
Then why does anyone take any notice of the drivel posted on here by people who have no knowledge of business finance. And let me assure you, general business finance, whilst opaque at best is a breeze to understand compared to the impenetrable chicanery of football club finance.
The speculation is fuelled by Dean wanting his brass back. How that is structured, neither I nor anyone posting here has knowledge of.
Just be safe in the knowledge that the club is in good financial health, is being run very prudently and has an asset base which has significantly increased over the last 6 years, particularly the last 3.
Now enjoy what the Cowley’s are building and enjoy the footie.

Hello fellow posters, I'm playing DATM bingo, I just need a "#Blindmasses" for a full house and the £100,000 prize - I appreciate it's not an everyday expression and as such it's highly unlikely l will come across it anytime soon but on the off chance someone does can you let me know. Thanks in advance.

Championship ready in the here and now. We will be able to hang on to our best players too and use the parachute money to add real quality to the squad and start building again rather than the short term sticking plaster of the loan market. We took that approach before remember with DH at the helm because we couldn't compete with clubs with parachute money. Anyone seen a flying pig ?

I thought people pretty much understood the deal to be honest (no knowledge of business finance required), ie broadly that the club was paying Dean back £50M, that will come from parachute payments (obviously) and (again obviously) that has meant Phil didnt have to pay much for his 75%. If people wanna talk about whether they're happy with it or not on a Town forum on a thread entitled "Town Finances" I think that's up to them personally dont you?!

Excellent post terrierpark and rather refreshing compared to the patronising, often aggressive, replies from some, certainly not all, of those posters who apparently have an all encompassing knowledge not just of finance but specifically of Huddersfield Town's financial position. How they got round the NDAs I can only guess. I wouldn't have thought that the lack of a GCSE in finance precludes one from posting a view on a supporter's forum. That view may be totally wrong in other's eyes but I can never understand why it may also attract the vitriol and opprobium that it seems to. Can't we agree to disagree in a polite way ?

I think the Hull owners are very clear - sell every player of any value so we can have all our money (perhaps interest as well) back NOW! We gambled on getting to the PL. It is not going to happen so lets get out - what happens going forward - who cares, we don't.

Otterman acknowledges he ain't a clue either, so he arguably isn't patronising anyone. I'd rather people read my posts and answered vociferously and logically than replied (directly or indirectly) with a soft tone but where it's clear they haven't shown the courtesy to read it properly. PS - I have questioned Hoyle in this transaction, so I am not 100% behind the post we're discussing.

I think that’s my problem, the misinformed guessing. I am no longer in the first flush of youth and generally do not engage with social media. I think social media is one of the biggest curses of our time, where it could be priceless. Utt

I think to some extent this concern over the finances is like everything else in football i.e. Managing Expectations. Having waited 45 years to get to the top division i never expected us to give up our place there so easily. I was even more shocked that we started this season from a position of survival than strength and the possibility of ending up in the playoffs. The take over and the way the finances have been done put paid to that, and a lot of people are a little bit miffed to say the least. So we the fans "The life blood of the club" will have to wait and see for next season what the summer window brings. I like the Cowleys and PH has gone some way this Jan window to allay fears for now. Im not bothered if it costs nothing or twenty million i just want to see quality in all positions and no holes in the squad or square pegs plugging them. Part of the finacial planning for next season must be focused on giving the fans a little bit more to cheer about than that of late.

Did you expect us to last two seasons in the Premier league parky? Most clubs seem to fall back at first time of asking. I think it was a huge achievement for us to stay up in 2018

Worrying statement by Cowley today referring to us turning down £15 million for Grant. He say’s “ with the position we are in financially, the board could have taken the money”. source is his interview in Examiner.

Great stuff! What do you want him to say? ‘We’re minted so didn’t need another £15m on the pile’!
Whether we’re brassic or not, it makes sense to tell the world we are.

I genuinely struggle to understand why Dean Hoyle would hinder the progress of the club to such an extent by getting all his money back in such a small space of time.
Why not sell to the other multimillionaire? I fail to see how selling to phil was the better choice. I have no I'll feeling towards Phil but Dean Hoyle has completely gone down in my estimation.

Because by selling to PP it meant that Dean was able to take back all of his 50m This is done by PP not having the money to buy the club off his mate, so the parachute payments are used to pay dean back. The best players are then sold to keep the club afloat. A normal investor wouldn't accomodate this of course, but it's phil getting the club essentially for free by using our parachute money to buy it, and DH gets all his cash back. Sadly that's the reality of it. It reeks,

It doesnt actually matter who Dean sold to he would still be entitled to his money back, the loans would still be sat on the clubs accounts.

I'm not saying the right choice was made, but when you don't know the specifics, or even the basics, of either deal, you ain't gonna be able to see why. Other than the odd ITK fan, people need to let this play out more.
