Proof, if it were needed, that football has become a corporate industry. They've spent more on a training facility than most clubs would ever need to spend on a new ground. I know the Leicester chairman died tragically, but it was one of his family houses that was burgled in London and they had 400k in cash nicked. There's some big washing machines in the PL...

Not a patch on Battyeford Boys Club facilities. The best part about playing for Battyeford Boys was when they'd had a tractor on the pitches, and then covered them with sand. A pleasure to play on, and very condusive to flowing u11 football.

The other advantage of playing on a ploughed pitch covered with levelled sand was you could spot the dog shit more easily against the yellow background.

All those complaining that we didn't spend 20 million on the training ground, what more did you want? You have 14 million, what further investment will you make? Nobody was demanding £20m to be spent on the training facilities. It was the club who came out with that figure. They then didn't spend that (fair enough, their decision) but offered no explanation and instead tried to bury that they'd ever said that. That's what people are questioning - why did that happen and where did the rest of that ringfenced budget (our PL legacy) end up?

That's what people are questioning - why did that happen and where did the rest of that ringfenced budget (our PL legacy) end up? Except they did offer a perfectly reasonable explanation > www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-hodgkinson-canalside-update-19191565The £20m was actually £12m when properly costed. They did the £6m part of that which elevated the facility up towards being a top end Championship training centre, and decided it wasn't the right time to blow an extra £6m on replacing a building to make it look nicer, but with no real tangible benefit - and in reality, if the time did become right (ie - such as if we got promoted to the PL), then that remaining £6m building would likely be re-imagined as a £3-4m building given the other changes that have happened along the way that have delivered some of what that building was originally specified for. (your reference to 'ring fenced budget' is something that never existed that you've made up) And if you're wondering about what the £6m was spent on.. www.htafc.com/news/2020/october/an-update-on-canalside/

Is HDone cancelled, or has it been downsized? It’s being re-planned as HDhalf… Cable car is now just a one way zip wire strung from Oldgate House…

closing that driving range was crass stupidity borne of the hype and expectation builders would be on site within days..just a bit of paperwork to sort out !...ha !
How long has it been closed now with no so much as a man with a shovel appearing...5 years..7 ?
Town pumped money it KSDL (or whatever it was)..wages, expenses, consultants...for what ? naff all

The Canalside was brilliant for the fans, somewhere to park, eat and drink and even mix with the player's then along came the greedy league and the rest is history. The club and DH always kept the fans informed what was going on, now there is more information on the back of a postage stamp.

Went down there loads of times and I'd be down again 3x a week if it was open..

I have never noticed any signs outside of Canalside other than advertising Millars Oils with a small Town on the signs Millers Oils in Huddersfield were on Wheeler Dealers the other week on Discovery channel. If you've got an old car they offer a fantastic service to analyse your engine oil for £30. You send them a sample, 100ml I think, and it gets analysed to show of there are any tiny metal fragments or water etc in the sample. A small price to pay to see where, or if, you need to get an old engine rebuilt without paying someone to pull it apart first. It was the first time I'd ever heard of the company other than sponsoring Canalside and it was an interesting process (and cheap!).
