FFP was supposedly brought in to stop clubs getting into debt and spending beyond their means. Man City have no debt. The reality is it was brought in, in Europe, so that the big clubs - Barca, Bayern, Real, Utd etc - would always have a closed shop. They don't want other clubs challenging them and their income. and this in turn creates a protectorate within the top clubs of the premier league. They think they are untouchable.

I see some on here "United Fans" are reveling in City's plight but are they the only ones! say what you like about City they have given the last tens years some of the best football ever played in this country and let's face it, If a Mr Mega Rich Money Bags came along to Town and wanted to turn us in to the best, would we turn around and refuse it, would we hell. I have read the whole rotten saga that has blown up over this and something just is not right, personally i think it's nothing short of jealousy. Now we have been to the promised land, i think everything about the elite top 6 clubs in this country is rotten, everything about the Premiership is not like football was 30/40 year's a go, for me the old days were far better. I hope City win the Champions league and best of luck to them, i wonder if PSG will be the next club to feel the wrath of some disgruntled fans. I’m probably on my own with this, but nope, I wouldn’t want that. If Sheik Bin Moola comes to town with bottomless pockets, wants to snap up lots of foreign talent from around the globe that’s never heard of Huddersfield I’d feel even more disconnected from football. If he had ambitions of us buying our way to the PL and/or the top 6 I’d be thinking, ‘that’s not the Huddersfield way’. Don’t get me wrong, I want to see us compete, win and be up there but I want it doing right. I would love an Aston Martin, but it’s outside of my financial situation so I’ve opted for a VW. That’s life, I’ve worked hard to earn it, and I’m proud. I want Huddersfield Town to spend within its means, work hard to be up there not buy it’s way there. I’ve been to watch town at the Etihad and honestly I’d rather see us in the conference than become that. A Football club shouldn’t just be about trophies, winning and how big your club is. It should be about the people it represents, the community in which it sits in and is supported by. I feel no connection with Terrence Kongolo, he was a mercenary who stole a wage and laughed in the faces of the working people who followed the club he wore the shirt of, Schindler.... he’s someone I can support no matter what. Works hard, never backs down, never gives up, lives and loves the area and appreciates the fans. I know I’ll be in a minority or probably on my own on this, but I want us to be us, not an 11 year old FIFA20 players wet dream. You look at all the top 4 clubs of the PL now, owned by Billionaires, all of which have soulless stadiums filled with tourists and corporates. I’m sorry but it’s a no for me.

There are plenty of foreign owners where their 'assets' are so far flung, it reminds me of that spoilt King in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Always needing the latest toys to satisfy their boredom... We all know what happens when people get bored of new toys... Fine Art is known as one of the most common places for money laundering, is modern football going the same way? It stopped being a sport in the true definition of that word some time ago...

I can't help thinking that too many clubs/managers now think the only route to success is by spaffing £m's on players..any players so long as they cost £m's...doesn't matter where they came from, or whether they speak English, or even know where England is...
Back in the day, a manager worth his salt would put a 'team' together from a set of mainly average individuals and mold them into a successful unit...I think of Buxton and Greaves who did this at Town. Nowadays clubs can't wait for success. they don't want to search the lower leagues and build an actual team .. that takes too long, no, spaff the cash on some foreign import and just wait for things to happen...(or not)...

I heard somebody on the radio say that they felt sorry for the fans. Those same fans who were waving £20 notes at us after they scored their 4th, 5th and 6th goals last time we were over there.
Somebody also said that Pep is blameless. The same Pep who can sign anybody in the World, money no object.
Fuck the lot of them.

I have to say my immediate response was that Man City will just appeal, throw millions at lawyers and eventually it will be overturned or totally watered down. This article provides a lot more rational argument as to why this might be the case www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51528427

Schindler is ok, on your socialist approach to community football he would never have been purchased. We are more likely to end up in the conference than top 4 so don't worry about that. Burnley spend money, are a working class town but don't feel the need to have that as their strap line. Every business requires investment to survive. You want to see us compete, win and be up there??? How exactly will that happen? What sort of naive world beating footballer is going to play for Town in the premier league for minimum wage oblivious and his agent oblivious to the fact that he can earn millions anywhere else. Even Town fans leave for better money and hold the club to ransom!!!!!

I've said before on this topic, in my opinion, if Man.City, PSG or Stevenage have a wealthy owner he should be allowed to pump as much money in as he wants, if Messi has a £500M buy out clause and wants wages of £1M per week after tax and the new owner of Stevenage can afford pay it and also pair him up with Ronaldo and Harry Kane, then let him, the only proviso should be that they have to deposit the necessary funds to cover it, for the length of their contracts.
That way if after 18 months the new owner decided he's had enough and wants out the club can still meet its financial obligations, obviously they will then resort to buying and paying any new players on more manageable sums, this gives them a chance of conquering the world but doesn't destroy them in the process.
After all if a multi billionaire wants to throw hundreds of £Millions at "his" club, why shouldn't he ? The problem is too many rich owners getting football clubs to spend obscene amounts of money on transfers, wages and bonuses and then pulling the plug and leaving a 100 year old club up shit creek without a paddle ( for the avoidance of doubt I would include HTFC in this but 20 years ago under Barry Rubery - it's not a dig a Dean Hoyle and to be fair to Man City and Chelsea both of their owners appear to be in it for the long haul and pay their way, across Manchester you've got very wealthy owners who while they're not worried about spending massively actually bought a cash cow using borrowed money on future ticket and shirt sales and take millions out of the club)
Addition
That's what I would introduce, however if City, Villa, Wednesday, Derby etc etc are breaking rules that exist then throw the book at them, the RFU have demoted the current champions, would be nice for the EFL / EPL to follow the precedent.

Every business requires investment to survive. If a business can't generate enough money to keep itself going it shouldn't been in business. Spoken as a person that has never run a business. Most businesses face tough challenges from time to time. If every time they hit tough times they shut the door as you propose there would be a lot less jobs about. What you need is a board of directors that can keep the business competitive through the down times with investment. More difficult when the business is effectively given a grant to acclimatise to it'e new tougher market and one of the Directors decides he will have all his money back out of the grant.

The players Jan was 'lumbered' with performed far better before he arrived, in results but even more so in performances. I pointed out to you at the time he had no system and was causing unrest among the players leading to anybody that could wanting to leave at the end of the season. You argued he needed time and that he should start the season and have a chance in the championship. You were wrong and still haven't had the humility to admit that and now seem to take an opposing view to anything I say.

He deserved the chance and he got it. Considering the position of the club when Siewert came in, the results were not far better at all, the fractions he inherited in the dressing room with the infamous cliques you appear to be suggesting all was fine and dandy. The fact his squad was decimated at the end of the season is all down to Siewert is it? Lossl, Durm, Mooy, Kongolo, Lowe, Biiling, Zanka, Mbenza, Diakhabi, Sobhi et al would still be here and tearing up the league would they? Please don't talk to me about humility, you don't know the meaning of the word.

Must admit, I'm with Ben on this. I would be delighted if we were at the top end of the PL, winning domestic & European titles etc etc.... BUT, if the price we had to pay for that was that the club became corporate & soulless, with little in the way of community links then I too would rather we were a non-league side with strong community links.
If I was a Man Utd fan I'd have been one of those who went to FC United.
My connection to the club is far more important to me than trophies. (Good job really!)

My problem with that is that it stops being a competition based on the relitive merits and strengths of the clubs and becomes just a case of the club with the richest owner wins. Thats what weve seen with Man City.. And owner with a seemingly unlimited amount of money, just pumping as much as they can at it, within the rules and outside the rules, to buy trophy after trophy. Just seems utterly soulless somehow. They could have bought Stevenage and had them winning the PL over and over again. But whoopdy-do.. what actual achievement is there about that if it just boils down to the owner having more money than the other clubs? Thats what FFP rules are supposed to be about-- to make sure clubs spend what they generate naturally. Its not easy to compete with that but at least it has integrity and success is based on what a club has managed to achieve for itself, income wise.

You were wrong and still haven't had the humility to admit that and now seem to take an opposing view to anything I say. I'm not going to admit I was wrong because I wasn't. Course you weren't wrong cod, history shows you were right. Just explain to me again how it was that you were right, you always are but i love the way you plait fog to defend your position. Any team struggling to get results will potentially have factions. Under Wagner they still played like a team, under Jan there was no team spirit and no structure to play to. Players played in a different position every week. Players started speaking out about him and his management style. Would all those players be here? No, but I wouldn't want them all here. It was however criminal that he got to start the new season as there was clearly no structure to how he wanted to play, no identity to use the words of the great man. Other relegated teams have managed to keep players they wanted to, Jan is the reason we didn't and those players got tarnished as bad apples by some fans. If the manager is destroying the work of the clubs most successful era in living memory I can understand players wanting to get out as it seemed at the start of the season Jan was here to stay, especially if they read your posts. Over to you cod, plait fog.

It seems that DH thought so, but PH thinks otherwise. Not knocking DH, he did a great job, until he got very ill, and made terrible decisions around that time. But seems to me like PH is a boss with his head screwed on the right way.

The problem is too many rich owners getting football clubs to spend obscene amounts of money on transfers, wages and bonuses and then pulling the plug and leaving a 100 year old club up shit creek without a paddle ( for the avoidance of doubt I would include HTFC in this but 20 years ago under Barry Rubery - it's not a dig a Dean Hoyle and to be fair to Man City and Chelsea both of their owners appear to be in it for the long haul and pay their way, across Manchester you've got very wealthy owners who while they're not worried about spending massively actually bought a cash cow using borrowed money on future ticket and shirt sales and take millions out of the club) Addition That's what I would introduce, however if City, Villa, Wednesday, Derby etc etc are breaking rules that exist then throw the book at them, the RFU have demoted the current champions, would be nice for the EFL / EPL to follow the precedent. Don't see how that's any worse than the alternative, which would essentially be Man U/Liverpool/Arsenal winning everything, forever, here. Real Madrid and Barcelona winning everything, forever, in Spain. Juventus winning everything, forever, in Italy. Bayern winning everything, forever, in Germany. All because they are the ones with swarms of fans in Asia and Africa, therefore generate vastly more money than everyone else, yet nobody else can spend to compete. I'm all for some method of increasing the competition but I don't see how its done. But at least any club (within reason) could be Man City, whereas under your way the dye is cast, forever.

100% you haven’t read my post properly. You start and end your post by saying you will probably be on your own in the opinion you post. You get a number of posters that agree with your community football club idea. The first person to disagree with you hasn't read your post properly? What sort of narcissistic martyr are you??Cba with you

Over to you cod, plait fog. Care to show the results of Wagners last three months in charge and Siewerts to show how much better the results were under Wagner? I have no position to defend, I merely said Siewert should be given a chance preferably with his own team. I also accept it wasn't working out and Phil did the right thing. Last post on this thread if you want to carry on looking for ways to kick Siewerts corpse can I suggest you start another dedicated thread to plait?
