Good morning everyone, I hope this okay to post here, moderators please move or delete if you need to. I’m part of a team at the University of Sheffield, led by Dr Chris Stride. We've published a number of academic papers and magazine articles relating to football history, on subjects such as statues and replica shirts (see, for example sportingstatues.com, and www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17460263.2019.1578255). Our current project is investigating the music that football teams have run or walked out of the tunnel to over the years. We are looking for the music that Huddersfield have run out to, for as many seasons in the past as you can recall. We are simply interested in the title of the song, the artist who recorded it, and for which seasons
Huddersfield ran out to this. Any help you can give us to piece together the different songs that your club has run out to would be hugely appreciated. If you have any personal anecdotes around the reasons for the songs being used, or the changes between them, that would also be fantastic. I should also add that we are not interested in goal music, or a song that is played at the final whistle, but just the song that is on the tannoy system as the players enter the field. Daft Punk- Robot rock (2012 or so)
Fatboy Slim- Right here, right now (2009-10)
Thin Lizzy- The boys are back in town (mid 2000s)
that god awful cover of smile awhile, can't remember the band (mid 2010s)
Think they came out to Darude- Sandstorm a few times about 2008 but not sure on that one
Despite remembering all those I've drawn a blank on the name of the song we currently walk out to

The smile awhile cover was part of an effort by the club to get people to buy the song and get it into the charts.
I assume the fatboy slim one got canned because it had the buildup part of the song on loop waiting for the players to come out, sometimes for up to 10 minutes, and everyone got fed up of it
The boys are back in town because it fits the description if we'd played an away game the last week, presumably

We once walked out to Rock the Casbah when Jacko was manager if I remember correctly? There'd been a story in the paper about how Jacko had told the players that there music choices in the dressing room were shite and he stuck a Clash tape on much to the bemusement of Sodje and the rest of the lads.

Serious question - what do they walk out to now? It’s such a long time since the season ended (yes, really) I can’t remember that either. At least the Red Star version of SAW was memorable!
