Exactly. You should go down with a team full of players worth a fortune that you can sell and replace with cheaper versions like Bournemouth will. If you cant sell it either means the players are crap or you got the negotiations wrong. There are very few sides, if any, that have ended up saddled with the worthless shyte we have. Sunderland Wolves Blackpool Stoke as well.

Sure I saw Bournemouth still owe about £80mil in transfer fees. Don’t think they will be all that next year myself. Solanke won’t want to be there, so they will be stuck with his wages because no one will take him as he’s pish.

I think Bournemouth will be a good side There better players are established Premier League quality and they'll go for big money; Ake, Wilson, King There weaker players excelled in the Championship previously to earn there move to Bournemouth - so know what it takes and will quickly readapt Even after they sell Ake there starting centre back pairing will be Mepham and Cook. In contrast we had 32 year old free transfer Tommy Elphick as a starting centre back You’re probably right but we signed Pritchard and Ince who have since failed to shine in the Championship again despite being seen as top players In addition, players like Kachunga, Tommy Smith etc shined in our promotion season but have since struggled. Will be interesting to see how they cope. But they’re certainly a strong ahead of us with their owner and are covering their costs already with selling players like Ake. Solanke also finally showed some real talent at the right time to attract interest

I am one who thinks Bournemouth and Watford won't be all that. Norwich will the best of 3... reasons being they didn't splash out and looked after finances in their 1 year in the prem. Bournemouth, regardless of who they sell and who they don't, need a good summer of buying. A lot of players won't want to play championship level. Wilson was deemed for Chelsea not so long back. Lost brooks and ake. Billing won't give two shits either. Ageing players like cook and Francis won't be that good.
Watford, full of journeyman on big contract.

I saw that tweet. I googled the name on the account and found nothing so likely to be nonsense. Would be a decent signing though

Jesus. Alex Mowatt? I sincerely hope that’s not true! Why, out of interest? Can’t see it myself tbh - there’ll be a seven-figure fee to pay, which I’m doubtful we’ll be doing this summer - but he’d be a quality addition...

Too slow. I disagree. He’s an intelligent, muscular presence who could play at the base of or on the left of a midfield three with a good passing range, long shot, and set-piece delivery. Would tick a lot of boxes for me. Like I say, can’t see us paying the required fee though...

I seem to remember hearing a rumour that Mowatt was lined up to join us in our promotion year if we failed to make it up. But then moved onto other targets after promotion.

I’d like to think our club have something better up their sleeve than Mowatt. We don’t need another a slow midfielder who hasn’t even been a consistent performer for Barnsley; I’d like to think Carlos will base his team around mobility to play this ‘high brand of pressing football’ that Bielsa is renowned for.

Genuine question, who do we currently have as a seasoned pro who fits the pressing and passing style? Can only think of O'Brien and Toffolo. Everyone else is either slow, lacking intensity or poor with the ball at their feet. We probably need 8-10 players to make this work.

By your definition, you've also excluded Toffolo - he's pretty slow for a fullback. Either way, agree we need an overhaul, but there are players who could fit the expected new style, who may not appear shoe-ins. Depends who comes in and who they compliment (not as in saying 'nice arse Hoggy' 😀) I'm sure there are Leeds players who you wouldn't have expected to excel in Bielsa ball.

Mowatt may have been player of the year for Barnsley last season but that doesn’t invalidate my point that he has been inconsistent for them over his time at the club. I’ve got a mate who is a Tyke and he couldn’t give a stuff if they sold him; to quote: ‘He’s been crap for 75% of his time with us’
I wouldn’t say it’s unfair to say he lacks pace; he does. Is pace and athleticism essential? No. Do we need it? Yes. Through the central area of the park last year we severely lacked it and were exposed too much for my liking, despite playing three in there for most of the season.
If Carlos deems him good enough then fine, but I hope Bromby isn’t setting his scouting perimeters according to Leeds and Sheff Utd; my biggest concern is whether he has the knowledge of the wider market to ensure that the appropriate players are brought in for Carlos to work with. We’ve not had a decent DOF since Webber, I hope Bromby can buck up the trend and come up with something better
