£50 million move to Chelsea. I wonder if we might get him back on loan? 😀

Why would we want someone surplus to requirements to Leicester? Great move for the lad, fully deserved

Terrific player, I thought a better team than Chelsea would take him. I know Chelsea are a big club I just think this kid is brolly.

Good luck to the lad, you could see how good he was even during his short stint with us at a young age. You get the feeling ESR might be another one who goes on to good things. He just looked to have that something special, very similar to Chilwell

Good luck Ben. Think we all knew he'd end up at one of the big boys & in an England shirt.
Chelsea are really making moves in the transfer market this season.

He’s become everything we thought he would - a top quality player, proven international
You knew he would go to the top - a natural ability about him we hadn’t seen at Town in a long time, everything looked so simple
ESR has that too agree, but I’d say Chilwell was ahead of him in progress when he joined us

TBH, he never really seemed to fully get going due to his limited minutes.

TBH, he never really seemed to fully get going due to his limited minutes. Agreed. I mean he scored the key goal in the end didn’t he and what a beauty it was- far better than the pointless strike at Barnsley when the whole team were abject. I couldn’t understand why ESR didn’t start more games. We struggled to score. He was blatantly class & on expensive wages. I said the same about Chalobah. I’d have played him at centre half after Elphick got injured. We had too many resources last year and we didn’t make the most of them at all. Same with Willock. Flashes of skill but not really embedded in the team. It wasn’t clear what our main way of scoring was. This year I’m hoping it’ll be clearer but doesn’t look like Carlos will be given the same resources alas, and I’ve been adamant that wouldn’t be the case. However, it’s starting to look like perhaps we are in fact going down the ‘youth and what we’ve got’ route.

Pity we didn't include a "sell on clause" when he went back Leicester

Chilwell was excellent for us, his obvious ability reminded me very much of Martin Kelly - when he came on loan, he was a class above, it's a real shame he never reached the potential I was expecting, but I believe that is more down to bad luck with injuries.
Good luck though, Ben, all the best lad.

Lot of leicester fans were rubbing their hands at that money I think, like me, you are old-fashioned and expect your full-backs to be able to defend. Doesn’t seem to be the way of it nowadays. Chilwell is a very decent player but he ain’t no Maldini.

A decent excuse to not have to play for Southgate and his system of goalie, 9 defenders and a striker. Gonna be shit having no football to bother with next week.

Always looked assured for us even as a young lad and comes across well in interviews. Good move for him to one of the big 6.

Just another example of wealthy people believing that due to money they are above the law of the land Along with the millions of other people in this country who don't think the law applies to them. It's clearly a generational thing rather than a wealth thing.

It's clearly a generational thing rather than a wealth thing. Or maybe more people need to stand up to unnecessary laws that have not had parliamentary scrutiny? Some food for thought >> www.dw.com/en/the-law-that-enabled-hitlers-dictatorship/a-16689839en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichstag_Fire_DecreeObviously we're not anywhere close to that, but plenary power in government is *never* a good thing. We are effectively living in a dictatorship.

I knew he was good when we had him. I didn’t know he was that good. Just searched back for our first post about him when he was linked in 2015 on loan. A wiki search. Second thread, with the first post suggesting "he must be worth 2million" Many of us predicted he'd go far, England etc. But, none of us were crazy enough to think he'd be worth 50m, a champions league winner, as well as a consistent England performer too. Chuffed that we as a club played our part in his success.

I remember seeing this skinny kid in his interview giddy at the prospect of playing men’s football and thinking we were gonna get a pasting. He ended up absolutely bossing his first game. What a talent.

Thanks Chilers, for your part in the Chelsea victory! Bet365 kindly gave me a free £5 bet for the game, which I placed on a Chelsea victory , netting me £17.50 , I hope Denise can cope with such a substantial loss . I have probably squandered most of my winnings as I have just placed a 10p super heinz at Uttoxeter (£12), but you never know!

He was fantastic last night - He had Mahrez in his pocket, he hardly had a kick
As I put above - no surprise whatsoever how far he’s gone so far, and at 24 will only get better
