Still waiting for the striker the ever reliable Maynard said was coming .... Once Grant goes I'd hope we were primarily replacing Grant with a winger, given that's where he generally played and is our weakest position at the moment. Another striker would be nice also but I'd hope a winger was our first concern.

My first choice would be a goal scorer i don't see many goals from what we have even when they are all fit and yes i would also like mare creativity from midfield and wide.

I think goal scoring options will be higher, as they were against Forest, when we have 5 or more players in or around the opposition penalty area. Rebounds, deflections, scuffers or worldies like Campbell’s, we stand much more chance of scoring. I still agree that a goal scorer is required but I think quite a few players will get on the score sheet, I have a sneaking suspicion Mbenza may get a few this season.

Think it’s fair to say we won’t be doing anything regarding incomings until we shift grant

Sounds like when we had Dowell waiting in case we sold Mooy then seemed surprised when he joined someone else while we messed about.

When we talk about a striker do we mean the one position up top in the team? Where we already have 2 players for that one spot.
Or are we talking an attacking winger? Which there are 2 places in the team where we currently have zero players.

Come on Phil get the cheque book out.

Still waiting for the striker the ever reliable Maynard said was coming .... Once Grant goes I just hope that this is not January or next summer! But if they will not meet price we will have to grin and bare it. Grant would have to suck it up and prove is value over again as no one likes a sulky puss! If that happened he could be with us for a while.

Even worse news is that the transfer window's open for another 2 weeks, not 1 as most think.
So may not have the Grant situation solved for a while yet.

Sounds like when we had Dowell waiting in case we sold Mooy then seemed surprised when he joined someone else while we messed about. It's a tricky one. You could buy striker now and then West Brom know you need to sell and reduce their offer. The upside is you hopefully buy cheaper. You sell Grant first, and then the price for replacement striker goes up because you are flush or said striker is no longer available.

Main window closes 5 October but domestic-only window runs until 16 October. Presumably if PL clubs were still interested after 5 October our negotiating hand would be strengthened as they would have fewer if any alternative targets? Big “if” though...

Would you care to elaborate? Been watching Mbenza for over 2 years now (in and out of the team) and he alMost never has a shot at goal , let alone one on target. (As his single goal record reflects). Nothing suggests to me he’ll suddenly turn that around (and we all know he’s soft as shit and frightened of a tackle! I would agree that I’ve seen worse crossers of a ball in my time watching Town.

Think we should see how Carlos sets us up over the next few months hopefully we can move some players out and can add too the squad and get a bit more out of some players we have attacking wise.

As a team we have been shot shy for three seasons. Most players, even those we considered decent strikers at one time, have either not been in a position to shoot or when they have been made a pigs ear of it, Grant the exception. I think, if they can be made to work, and made to work consistently, that Corberan's tactics will change that. I know we have not seen much by way of results yet but I think we will, and I just have this sneaking feeling Mbenza may come good in front of goal. I am not saying he will get lots of goals but I think we will see a few. This is just a gut feel, and being a happy clapper my gut tends to be an optimistic one

Remember when the original transfer thread used to be a hive of activity? Mainly nonsense with the odd rumour but more exciting than whatever this is now. Any chance of admins taking notice of the overwhelming vote in the other thread, and bringing back the old and better transfer thread? Admins?

Any chance of admins taking notice of the overwhelming vote in the other thread, and bringing back the old and better transfer thread? Admins? Pointless asking mate. The admins were massively outvoted on a poll regarding the transfer thread and just completely ignored the results. As I said back then, it’s better to be part of a minority but on the same side as the admins than in the majority. But apparently it’s nothing to do with their egos. Ha!

You mean when folk were sidelining it with cheap shots at either the owner or the finances and we got pages and pages of the same people saying the same thing over and over again

Easily scrolled past. Now it's like a board with covid restrictions.
