Brilliant comments from Carlos in Examiner interview today re Johnny Hogg. Worth a read and very true in my opinion.

Haven’t read as yet but will do.However I have to go back on what I said when Carlos was appointed,I did believe that it would spell the end for hogg as we would look to use a 6 who was more capable on the ball and sped up play rather than slowing it down.Fair play to Carlos and hoggy as he’s improved in that respect and seems he won’t be as I thought backup from the bench.Good to see.

Seems Hogg is a managers dream and definitely someone you'd want in the trenches with you.

I reckon a number of clubs would have him in their squads.

Not so long since a certain number of Town fans thought he was ready for an England call up. Probably the same fans who recently thought he couldn't cut it anymore at this level.

As much as I would have always had Hoggy as 1st on the team sheet, last season saw a deterioration in his play. I sincerely believe that he's another player being reinvigorated by the coaching skills and tactical nous of Carlos, and long may he and Hoggy continue to contribute to our future success.

Hogg's been one of the best signings this clubs made in the modern era. Something like £600k wasnt he? Consistently one of our best performers for years now. Manager after manager come and go and hes practically the first name on the team sheet for each and every one of them.

He may have the odd poor game but his hunger and tenacity are the same now as they were when he first signed. It’s no coincidence that every Manager he’s played for has the same opinion of him.

He even apologised for a hospital pass at the weekend which is a definite first.
I THINK Hogg is potentially rejuvenated because he’s less critical. We’ve had a period where we’ve been so shit that him having a rare good game has been the difference in us losing or not. This season we seem to have made this magical transition whereby the Hoggs, Schindler’s, and pretty much anyone can miss a game and it actually doesn’t make a big difference.
I don’t know how it’s happened, and I don’t necessarily understand if, to be honest when the changes were announced for Saturday if felt a bit like we’d decided to throw the game to give a bit of recovery to the main men ahead of two potentially more winnable games, but evidentially not.
We d somehow created a better squad despite having lesser players. It’s a very interesting and intriguing time to be a Town fan...and I’m hooked, have paid for all the weekend away games so far on top of those included in the £249.

I reckon a number of clubs would have him in their squads. Well- every championship club would. I don’t know why or if other fans do it but we talk our own players down. There isn’t a match thread without someone saying that Hoggy is on the wain etc. Yet he’s the most selected player by every manager since he was signed.

I've certainly been a critic of Hogg over the past year or so, maybe prematurely predicting his demise at Town. I commented a week or so ago that Hogg had gone 4 games without a yellow card , well he's now gone 6 games without a yellow and this seems to indicate his role in the team has been less combative now we seem a little more secure at the back, and maybe with the addition of some harder working midfielders. Hogg seems to have adapted to his changed role very well and I'm pleased to admit Iwas wrong with my earlier comments.

Not sure why that’s such a surprise to people as it was exactly the same when Wagner joined.
