Most Newcastle fans are deluded wankers. They’re not going to speak highly of a player that can’t get into their first team when they usually piss and moan about the ones that are in there already. And despite a nice couple of years jostling with them recently, they are a much bigger club able to carry lots of wages and right now someone that isn’t good enough for them could be a decent player for us. Think you're being a bit harsh there. I think they're a lot more level headed than a lot of fans of clubs of a similar size or ones in a similar position. Never really seen them claiming that they deserve this or that. I think they just want an owner who cares first and foremost, and who can blame them when they've got that tagnut in charge of them. I used to think the same until last summer when there was such a concerted supporter campaign for the Saudi royal family to buy the club. I detest Mike Ashley but it's a whole new level of awfulness. All with Saudi flags in their twitter handles and stuff, it really sickened me.

There's probably a good proportion of fans from every club who would forget their moral compass if it meant their club was to become a guaranteed football powerhouse. Other than having tattooed bellies that don't fit into an XXXXXL shirt, I personally find them a decent set of fans in the main.

Really?
I have quite a pious moral compass. Give me a squad full of honest hackers in league 2 and a local skinflint tying knots in the purse strings over us being the next Chelsea/Man City every day of the week.
We’d be garbage but we’d be good, honest garbage.

That article talks about Newcastle "selling" him, but surely his career record to date suggests that they're not going to get much, if any, money for him. The Examiner reports that he didn't "pull up any trees" when on loan at Wycombe and Motherwell so I'd be amazed if we agree to spend much on a transfer fee.

Depoitre came here with a bad rap from Porto fans but good raps from Gent fans. Seems like the 1st season we got the Gent version and 2nd season was the Porto version. Porto loos? Probably, sounds like he stunk it up in Portugal.

And anyway, I had more fun watching us in Division 3 than most seasons.

Think of that - some fans are clamouring to sign a player that doesn't have the pedigree of Diakhaby

Problem is, is it probably not down to Corboran who we sign. I think the recruitment team identify the players for Corboran and he just says yes or no. Doubt he knows anything about Aaron's and how bad he has been at Newcastle, Wycombe and Motherwell

Cos it wouldn't be our club then, it'd be someone else's creative way of financing and legitimising human rights abuses

given that Aarons is almost certainly the regularly named "Trialist" that's featured for the B team it's very likely we kn ow what we're getting. Low risk IMO

Doubt he knows anything about Aaron's and how bad he has been at Newcastle, Wycombe and Motherwell Yeah course mate, he just says yes or no randomly with no understanding of the player. You are right in that we have a team that focuses on the identification of players as do all teams at our level, do you think CC has the time to be doing that effectively whilst coaching the team? But to suggest he just says yes or no without having a solid debrief on the player identified, strengths, weaknesses, risks etc is ridiculous. The managers also always speak to the player beforehand, get to know them a bit better but also sell us as a club and the way we are playing.

Low risk IMO We've only played a trialist in TWO B-Team fixtures, one coming on as a sub for Vallejo and once replacing Jaden Brown. Back in October and very early November. They were likely legitimate trialists??

I think Maynard on the “Lincoln” thread backs up your point here when he said that Carlos was to look at the info on the player and the clips etc before giving the yes or no.The board still can act on his decision either way but he most definitely has a say even if it’s not him out there picking out and identifying possible targets.

Given that Maynard mentioned the other day that Newcastle refused to allow him to train with us I find it highly unlikely that they'd allow him to play in any B games

Ok, maybe I was wrong. My udnerstanding was that he'd be able to play on trial but not train with the wider squad, but maybe not.

It just seems like a strange agreement if true, especially considering he'd be more likely to get injured playing a match when he's not allowed to train.

I would have expected this to have been done & dusted before the transfer window, or we'd have moved on.
He obviously doesn't feature in Newcastle's plans.
