What’s your opinion of the sacking of Ivic and the new appointment? Also - what was the issue/fallout with Deeney?

What’s your opinion of the sacking of Ivic and the new appointment? Also - what was the issue/fallout with Deeney? TBH I think a lot of fans don't mind Ivic has gone as despite being 5th we were pretty rubbish and playing some negative football for a team with good attackers. As I say we'd scored 4 goals away from home all season and quite frankly been lucky to pick up as many points as we have. Mind you probably actually need a good experienced manager rather than a bloke who has managed a year or so in the Georgian league but basically we appoint a guy and tell him to get on with it really and hope the players like him. Deeney is a marmite player now - clearly a legend for us but some feel he has a lot of influence on the club and what he says goes. Seems like he was surprised to be "rested/dropped" for Saturday and the manager wanted to have a word but Deeney was busy then when Deeney went to find him Ivic wasn't around. So basically there was a lack of communication and misunderstanding. All seems to be a big mountain made out of a molehill but that is the egos of modern football for you!

So, they are also picking up hamstring injuries. Our medical and fitness record is awful ! 5/6 injuries at any one time it seems .

I remember at West Brom in our first EPL season, we were on front row next to this lunatic who literally all game kept shouting 'Where's your goldfish Foster?'. Eventually it got to him and he seemed genuinely rattled by it !

So, they are also picking up hamstring injuries. 100% this will be related to the curtailed pre-season. Normally you'd ramp fitness during that period, really loading training load on (makes you more susceptible to injury when then 'performing' at limits) - and then the season itself is about just doing what you can to maintain that level of fitness through peaks and troughs of effort to aid recovery etc. Likely this season they were still ramping training load up during the first month or two of the season - increasing risk of injury. And likely they then eased off a little during the breaks in October and November and have ramped up hard again afterwards (because they've not reached '100%' - their fitness will have dropped away lower when they ease off) and seen injuries a few weeks later. I think second half of the season there seems to be less double-match weeks so will be easier to manage training load whilst remaining effective, injuries are probably going to reduce.

Just looked at Fosters Wikipedia page and read this. If true I don’t blame the lad for not making himself available under capello
“
Foster stated in a 2020 interview that he found Capello difficult to work with, not only as a manager but also as a person. Foster had been training with England for a friendly match when his pregnant wife went into labour. Capello initially refused to allow Foster to leave for his child's birth, before reluctantly allowing it only after Foster pleaded with him. Three hours after his child's birth, Capello called Foster and urged him to return to the training camp immediately, promising Foster that he would play the second half of the upcoming match. Ultimately, Foster was not brought on in the second half and played no role in the match; Capello offered no acknowledgement or explanation to Foster.[86] Shortly after, in May 2011, Foster announced that he would be making himself unavailable for international selection for an indefinite period. He intended to "prolong [his] club career for as long as possible" by allowing his body "a proper rest period between games" to reduce "niggling" injuries.[87] It was not until February 2013 - after Capello had been succeeded by Roy Hodgson - that he made himself available for selection again.[88] In the next international break, he was called up to the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.[89] On 29 May 2013 Foster represented England in a friendly fixture against the Republic of Ireland
