He was 5’6’’ when he was good. Since this recent growth spurt he’s been nowhere near the Spurs squad. Absolute rubbish. He has always been 6ft or taller since MK Dons Nonsense. He was 4’10’’ at the MK Dongs 5’6’’ at his best whilst at Spurs. Now he’s 6’2’’ he can’t trap a bag of cement.

Can anyone name a single number 10 in world football who is over 6 foot tall? From Maradona to Messi, Maddison to Alli, Firminho to David Silva, they are all under 5’10’’ and play in a less agricultural manner than we seem to want our number 10 to. It’s such an archaic argument. (I know the aforementioned may not all wear the number 10 but that tends to be where they play). Zidane didn't do badly in that role

Surely no one would expect a player in the Number 10 role, to play in an agricultural manner? I agree most who play in that position are shorter than 6ft. It’s a tall and strong striker who can get on the end of a cross that we need.

Rivaldo, Bergkamp, Laudrup, Sheringham, Kaka, Zidane, Havertz, Sigurdsson and of course Dele Alli. There's a young lad at Arsenal as well, Smith-Rowe he's 6ft and apparently decent.

I originally brought it up looking at a first choice midfield of Hogg, O'Brien and Holmes Which once Hogg is fit will surely be our midfield - so the height issue still applies.

Wayne Rooney's recent comments about duanne not fitting into his plans due to him not putting the work in during training sounds like we've signed the type of player that we are trying to get rid of!! Let's hope he puts the work in for us!

Well if that is what Wayne Rooney says then it has to be true. Personally I would like to see for myself before slagging the guy off.

More likely that Rooney is aware that his £90kpw salary means Derby can’t offer the likes of Holmes a decent contract.
So he badmouths him to cause a distraction and offer a scapegoat other than himself.

Let's hope he puts the work in for us! From what I can make out, his attitude at Derby hasn't been great, but at the same time I'm not convinced that it will be a problem here. It's not even a secret any more that he's been angling for a move back to HTFC for a while. You can make all sorts of assumptions about why, but * being in and out of the side, * played out of position when he is picked, * at a club that appears from the outside to be a bit of a basket case * rumours of him and Wayne Rooney not getting on well * wanting to return to his home town club. It's not often these days that a player will play for the badge, but I think DH might be an exception. Time will tell whether that's just wishful thinking on my part, but that backdrop doesn't worry me as much as it usually would.

Holmes was a fixture under Lampard when Derby had their best spell for a number of years. During Cocu's terrible reign, Holmes starts getting left out and played out of position when he does get selected. He gets drift of (or instigates) the possibility of getting out and coming back to Town. Rooney takes over, by which time Holmes is already part way down the road of negotiating his comeback - Rooney understandably doesn't want him in the team and Holmes ain't that bothered. No falling out between Holmes and Rooney - just different priorities.

So he badmouths him to cause a distraction and offer a scapegoat other than himself. That sounds more likely seen as only a few days before he told the media he wasn't putting it in in training he told the media he was an excellent footballer & now he was permanent manager he'd be sitting down with him to discuss his future. Sounds more like Rooney didn't like what Holmes had to say because two days later he's telling the media he's not putting it in on the training ground?

Lots of posters on here said it was a shit and pointless signing.
What exactly are our scouts and recruitment team watching ? What is even worse, why is Carlos picking him when he contributes the square root of fuck all.

Sorry to repeat what others have said but he was poor when we first had him and he’s still poor. His signing is a damming indictment of the problems besetting our club- confused and lacking in understanding of the league we are in.

The good news is...
...if we sell 10,000 season tickets at £300 each it would almost cover Holmes and Ward’s wages over their 3 year contracts.

Holmes obviously not good enough, League 1 lower end at best. Ward was always going to be on the bench 90% of the season. We have ridiculous actions all over the shop though.
