In all seriousness. Club Captain behaving like he did was reckless, selfish and irresponsible. So why would our club think he’d be valuable in supporting our young Centre Half’s? Not the type of “Pro” I’d look up to.

My wife doesn’t want him to sign because he’s got “goggle eyes” Good enough for me. He is the ugly side of football. Literally. I always think of the film The Hills Have Eyes whenever I see him, but if the club think it's a good option as a non-footballing expert, who am I, to question their judgement.

What I don't understand is how on earth can Preston afford better players than us. We keep being told we are skint because of Covid yet Preston don't have parachute payments or fans yet still manage to outdo us. Big Phil went on the radio to tell us all everyone was going bust and we would win the league by default! Somebody better tell the mighty Preston they aren't playing by the rules! We now sign a 74 year old drink driver to bolster our ranks. Fuck me sideways It's called borrowing. Some clubs decide to go down that route. The current Town administration have decided not to go down that route and to be sustainable All debts have to be repaid as we know all too well. We should still be able to do better than Keogh

We had an alleged woman beater playing right back last season and it didn't cause this much of a stir. Alleged being the main word

As a young centre half you wouldn't look up to a player who's played over 400 games in the Championship because he was pissed up in the back seat of a car when his team mate crashed it? Okay

I don’t like Phil and i hate his transfer policy. However i really don’t get the reaction to this one.
It’s far from exciting but we desperately need an experienced centre half who can come straight into the team with a history of playing it from the back. It’s a short term sensible idea.
As for morally i’m amazed. What did he do that was that wrong with the drink drive incident that we haven’t all done. I actually felt very sorry for him when he was sacked and thought Derby behaved very badly.

Yeah, I’ve come around to this way of thinking. Moaning won’t help or change anything. I don’t like the fit and I’ve never rated him as a player but I trust Carlos wants him so what do I know. UTT

Whilst the seriousness of what he did is not in question and shouldn’t be downplayed, I can’t help but laugh at his shithousery towards the Leeds fans after their win at Elland Road in the Play Offs.

I think a good 90% of us on here don't want him here.
But, if he comes in until the end of the season & gives us the experienced head we need at the back (Saturday we played our young 4th & 5th choice CBs due to injury) & does his job properly I don't think we can complain.
I don't think offering him a deal beyond this season would be a good idea though, unless he does really well & then the club can mull over another 12 month deal.

Tend to agree that a 6 month deal with a year option is probably the best shout. However, with Elphick, Schindler and Stearman all out of contract and probably leaving this summer, would it be that mad to give 18 months to an experienced Championship centre half like Keogh?

The fact he was captain and didnt stop it from happening is just as bad. Drink drivers are the proper scum of the earth, and I would neither get into a car with a driver who was pissed, nor would I not report it to the police also.

I can’t think of another job where the passenger gets sacked, surely he was punished enough. The driver on the other hand, should have been locked up imo.

What makes you think well be buying a new car in the summer? PH hasn't spent much money on the squad so far in his reign and dont think that will change. The types of signings we are making paints a picture of us being totally skint Did we spend much when DH was chairman? My recollection was that we spent wisely. I don’t recall you telling us that the picture Dean is painting is that we are skint. Prior the PL season, Schindler at £1.8m was our biggest spend.

2 year in the premier league and we sign Danny Ward potentially Duane Holmes and Richard keogh. The club is a joke I used to buzz when we played against a side with keogh in the starting 11 because I knew he would always have a fuck up in him.
Shite signing I'd of stuck with the 2 young lads and waited for one of the senior players to return. Absolute joke

Once again I simply cant agree with the first line. He wasnt really a young person in his 30's when it comes to being sensible. They are all footballers earning mega money, and if a 30 odd year old captain cant grab a young team mate out of his car by persuasion or other means and get him in a taxi, then he isnt much of a captain, or a friend or someone anyone would want to look up to. While I dont particularly have much of an opinion about his sacking, I certainly dont have any sympathy for him. What I would also say is, the drink driving incident is not the reason I wouldnt want him here. For simple footballing reasons I wouldnt want him here, he is 34, he didnt have much pace when he was at Derby, never mind trying to play the style we want, and with our training regime he would be probably injured within a couple of weeks. Why we would want to waste 100 grand to gift to the mk dons, I really dont know.

If he was a 19/20 year old kid then I could kind of understand that line of thinking, but he was 33 years old AND captain of the club. Part of his responsibility as captain is to look after the younger lads, allowing one of them to get behind the wheel pissed up and then get in as a passenger is neglecting his responsibility. I can absolutely see why Derby sacked him.

This has to rank up there as one of our most bizarre signings of all time
One a free for 6 months you could just about get your head around. But paying money for him given his age and what he has been through in the last 12 months is just crazy.

Derby supporting mate of mine who watches home & away quite happy to see us take Holmes off them but would have been more than content to have had Keogh back, make of that what you will.

Can you imagine what you would have thought if someone had said to you on the tube from Wembley Park on the evening of 29th May 2017 "....You'll stay up next year....
...but just over three and a half years from now you'll be signing Duane Holmes and Richard Keogh...." You would have thought they were out of their mind. Just glad I don't work in Derby anymore.
