If he was a 19/20 year old kid then I could kind of understand that line of thinking, but he was 33 years old AND captain of the club. Part of his responsibility as captain is to look after the younger lads, allowing one of them to get behind the wheel pissed up and then get in as a passenger is neglecting his responsibility. I can absolutely see why Derby sacked him. That’s exactly where I’m coming from with it. Interesting that they weren't prepared to sack the driver cos he was worth more money 🤔

Derby supporting mate of mine who watches home & away quite happy to see us take Holmes off them but would have been more than content to have had Keogh back, make of that what you will. Perhaps if he watched football matches instead of Aussie soaps he'd have a different opinion.

Think most people agreed with the sacking, what they didn’t agree with was the inconsistent treatment of Lawrence and whoever else was involved.

Mason Bennett, now at Miwwaww. I think the inconsistency was probably based on Lawrence & Bennett having some value to the club due to their footballing ability. Just as an aside, didn't they leave him in the car unconscious as they fucked off? Utterly reprehensible individuals & I wouldn't want characters like them at the club regardless of how good they are at football.

If the Keogh thing is true, he may come in and do well. But his age is against him and surely is not a long-term option. Plus I can’t see how he would fit CC’s style.
If we are throwing £100-250k on him....😵🔫

A lovely quote from an MK Dons fan:
“ For a 34 year old who (due to injury) doesn’t seem to jump, has been responsible for our sloppy conceding as it takes him longer to settle in a game. 250k is an amazing bit of business and I’m confident from what I’ve seen this window alone Russ will reinvest that”

Derby fans still seem to rate him - There were lots wanting him back on the comments of one of the newspaper articles and one on their forum just now says that £100,00 for him is an excellent signing if he’s fully fit

He certainly didn’t jump out of that car. Regarding that ill-fated night, I’m sure I read that Keogh and Huddlestone were the main culprits in the drinking games, apparently taking the young lads under their wings and showing them the ropes. I’ve no issue with that but jumping in cars was completely out of order. Has Keogh ever talked publicly about this incident other than instructing his lawyers against Derby?

Have I misread this entire thread? The ire for the chap is what I’d expect if we were signing Ched Evans.
Funny how £1m to loan ESR for 6 months last season was seen as great business
But
£100k to buy Keogh to fill a gap due to injuries is madness

Can you imagine what you would have thought if someone had said to you on the tube from Wembley Park on the evening of 29th May 2017 "....You'll stay up next year....
...but just over three and a half years from now you'll be signing Duane Holmes and Richard Keogh...." You would have thought they were out of their mind. Just glad I don't work in Derby anymore. Sometimes i think it’s all a really bad nightmare and i’ll wake up in my seat at the John Smiths where Oliver just gives Mounie a yellow card and all is well.

I recognise that stats can be used to back up most points, but this season MK Dons have conceded 17 goals in the 17 games which Keogh has started (and he has finished every one of those). In the five he didn't, they conceded 11.

I remember what I think was his town debut at Millwall away I said to my friend he was ducking awful and I was tapped on the shoulder and the chap behind said he’s not having his best game today but I’ve seen him enough in his career to tell you he isn’t bad.... it was his dad.

So hes no angel but more to the point is he a good player who'll improve us? Its not long ago he was playing at the top end of this division, so hopefully he will if he comes here. Would certainly add much needed experience.

I've never been a massive fan of Keogh the footballer. He can get pulled out of position and make challenges that aren't needed. To be fair to him he looks like he puts in a shift.
His off field misdemeanour was highly irresponsible and quite frankly bloody stupid. It doesn't say much for his judgement.
That all said, if Sarr is out for a while then we look lacking at Centre Half.
What is interesting though is that we can find a fee and wages for a player at the end of his career but we still need a striker.

I don't think anyone is excited by this deal but equally I'm not as upset as many Keogh is only playing League One because of his actions at the start of last season. His Derby contract - seemingly £24k per week - wasn't set to expire until this summer (June 2021) - www.theguardian.com/football/2019/oct/30/derby-sack-richard-keogh-car-crash-reduced-wagesAt MK Dons he's proven he's over his injury and is match fit As a player he's Championship quality - winning numerous player of the season awards at Coventry and Derby, making the Championship Team of the Year. I'm very surprised by the fee quoted though. I assume it's a down payment with add ons if we stay up and he plays a certain number of games?
