This would be a decent signing surely. Hopefully this thread doesn’t get moved.

Better than nowt. Pedigree and worth a punt for a few months at 25k or so.

He'd be self isolating for 2 weeks and then likely need a month to get up to match fitness if he's been without a Club for that long.
It'll be mid to late March before we saw him.
Seems abit fruitless to me if we are talķing about a short term fit.

Any legs in this Maynard? Think it would be a great signing was a handful at Hull and Everton when he got the chance just horribly mistreated by koeman.

Why would he have to self isolate for 2 weeks? I have just read he still lives in Manchester.

Suggested this on the other thread. Reckon Phil reads this?

Suggested this on the other thread. Reckon Phil reads this? I don’t think he knows how to access the transfer sub board. This might explain our inactivity this window.

Suggested this on the other thread. Reckon Phil reads this? Haha of course he does, his ego is too big not to. I'd seen Niasse on that free agent list and agree hes much better than the likes of Drmic Jackson etc I would be all for it.

Does it say if he's been training anywhere to keep himself in shape ? It's a long time to be out of football (since June)and would take ages to get him in shape if he's just been loafing around...Never heard of him tbh but we're desperate for freebies so what's to lose ?

I’d have him. Is (was?) absolutely rapid. He was really good at Hull a while ago, less good at Cardiff but they are more direct generally.

Hopefully his wage expectations have come down a bit from the £55k a week he was on at Everton!

I saw him play for Lokomotiv v Sporting in 2015 Europa league and he ripped them apart, scored and set the other two up. At the time he looked outstanding. Then he went to Everton and bar a short loan spell at Hull in the Premier League where he looked good, he disappeared.
He hasn't played for a year. So as somebody said, two weeks isolation and then he won't be fit. So will take an age to get up to speed.

Definitely would take him if his wages were realistic , even for just 15/20 mins from the bench initially

If you go to 39 mins on this video he says he's never felt as fit & he's been training hard with his personal trainer for the last 4/5 months. It might not take him too long to get up to speed if he joins.

Definitely would take him if his wages were realistic , even for just 15/20 mins from the bench initially Even if it’s just that it’s a massive help. There is obvious potential with Phillips but he hasn’t come on and made an impact yet or looked like threatening, we just need something different and someone to cause a problem, if he can do that brilliant.

How would he meet this new points criteria for foreign players?
0 minutes of league football this season 19 minutes of league football last season Not a current international
There may be a loophole so curious. Unless he is still living in the country on a valid work permit?

I'd take him. At the very least, he'd be able to do a Mounié style job from last season - coming off the bench for Campbell against tiring legs and offering more of a goal threat. He has a point to prove, we need a striker, and it's in his interests for next season to do a good job for us and prove his quality. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work out and he's not here next season.
It does surprise me that he's a free agent at this time in the season, though. Surely a player would rather pick up a wage on a short-term deal to prove fitness and quality rather than kick his heels doing nothing?

Why would he have to self isolate for 2 weeks? I have just read he still lives in Manchester. More a case that professional football teams are in bio bubbles. If you're in a elite sports bubble you can train immeadiately. If you're outside a bubble you need to do two weeks quarantine before you can join training. That's what happened with Nabby Sarr

This signing would get a lot of people back onboard. With respect to the lads at Walsall Ipswich etc, this lad when fit, is different class. Really hope we get him

"Touch of a rapist, but a pretty good finisher given the service"
The reply from my mate who is an Everton season ticket holder when I informed him about this rumour this morning.

Better than those linked on deadline day.

i'm guessing that freeing up Diakhaby's wage has allowed us to have a go at this.

Not the most prolific striker in the world and not the greatest of goals to games record. But having seems what CC and his coaches have got out of some of the town players this season, you never know what the lad might do.
If it happens it could be a good signing
