Anybody seen this on twitter or the athletic? I’m sure they were one of the overseas parties interested in the club. If that was the case then I’m glad we’ve got Phil running the club even if we are hamstrung at the moment

Half of them Russian or Cypriot gangsters and if you win big you dont get paid out....they mirror real betting websites but are really trying to attract mugs to their online casinos where you cannot win. If they are not a top twenty bookmaker dont put you money there for you wont get value or get paid out. Go to the Ritz the vodka is not watered down like at "Tony's Bar".

It is worrying that if they'd taken over we could have been OPEless this season. Thankfully Phil took over and instead we just find overselves hopeless. Give us an 'h'.

wasn't there a stink at the time, because OPE basically copied those Chinese symbols from a real company, or did I dream that

Anybody remember that game around Chinese New Year, where the Chinese writing was flying around the stadium and rumours were circulating about new ownership. Then it just seemed to go away, quietly.

Seeing that the Government are now looking at banning betting firms from advertising in sport OPE, 32 Red and others on the front of shirts may have had their day.

My post is aimed at people such as myself who have an occasional flutter on the Grand National or World Cup Finals at a reputable High Street Bookies :-
Are you aware that gambling debts are not enforceable in law ?
That means if you put £5 on a 10 to 1 win shot that comes in and you go back to collect your winnings (£50) they can simply refuse to pay out and you can not take legal action to recover it. Of course in reality this would never happen as it would destroy the trust they have with all their other punters and be bad for business.
The OPE shirt sponsorship sadly seems a perfect marriage for HTFC and our departure from the Premier League, i can’t help but think we’d have be better with another Central Mirfield rather than an unknown, Chinese online bookies for our brief visit to the big time, if nothing else the kids could have had the logo on their replica shirts.

I wonder if this will stop people claiming that we would have been better off if Dean had sold to that Chinese consortium. I wonder what odds OPE would give on that.

There is a gambling commission, an ombudsman and an independent panel (IBAS) who can all enforce action against a bookmaker.

Any you’d like by the sound of things ! The thing is it’s a genuine shame we “sold our soul to the devil” when we got to the PL - I know time was short and all the rest but don’t you agree David Brown Tractors would have been a better fit ? And yes I know their Meltham factory shut down 30 years ago.

Ok, to be more accurate, a change in the law, about 10/15 years ago brought gambling into line with it being less “seedy” than it was deemed by the majority, for the previous 150 years my point stands.

I remember being at a game, was it the West Brom one? When every time we scored, Chinese flags were waved in all four corners of the ground. Also that stupid badge we had for the second Prem season was something to do with the Chinese year of the dog wasn't it?

Think it must have been that game that I grabbed one of these badges being given out inside the concourse, only to later read that they were meant to be given out to kids, not twenty-somethings who'll grab owt for nowt (Thanks to MT for the pic)
