He kept there 2 centre halfs busy all afternoon which created the space for others to run at their defence.

The same Duane Holmes who was pushing for a move here in the first half of the season? So wanting to come to a club closer to his house means he actually gives a fuck about the club? Aye alright. What's up Rob? Do you need a cuddle? Where do you think Derby is? I can see that argument for Danny Ward - Cardiff genuinely takes a long time to get to from Hudds - but Derby is just over an hour down the motorway.

Today he scored 1,had one disallowed, had 2 assists and put in his usual work. As someone said earlier on the thread there are a lot of people who simply don't properly understand the game and slag off a super pro like Campbell. The person who said that came across as arrogant and patronising, as does this post. When you get to the stage of "if you disagree with me, then you simply don't understand football..." then you know you're struggling.

TBF, there are a few who suggest he does nothing more than "run around a lot". Whether you rate him or not, if you can't see what he brings to the squad then I think suggestions that you know nowt about football are fair.

We all know Campbell won't get a new contract nor is he expecting one I would imagine, in all honesty he has been great for us despite what people say on here. Personally I'd give him another year - but as a useful squad member. The problem with him is that he's expected to do too much by the club (& even more by some sections of the fan base). Decent back up, keep the 1st choice on their toes, disrupt opposition sides trying to build attacks from the back. Not many better than him at that.

As the club have repeatedly failed to sign a frontline striker, Campbell has had to play every game. This isn’t Campbell’s fault, yet some people show negativity towards him and post childish derogatory remarks.
At 33, he runs himself into the ground in every game. I’d say he must be the best at defending from the front in the Championship.

He's missed some really good chances & he will be first to admit that half of them should have been dispatched, but he's also had a lot of good fortune with some of his goals, Fraizer could well get an extension too his contract, if not, like Cameron Jerome clubs lower down will take him & if fit he will shine...........should never signed for Man Utd!!

His goal looked simple but it was brilliant. Only a proper striker knows to make that run, away from the goal, towards the space, then hit the far post.
They should put that in the coaching manual.

Hero to Zero in 3 days. Welcome to DATM Relying solely on Fraizer Campbell in games when he's 33, history of injuries and playing twice a week as a lone striker is unbelievably thick from whoever decided we didnt need to bring in another striker.

Agreed, but hardly his fault. For his age, the type of player he is, I'd say he was/is doing well. "Other views are available "

I get that he does plenty of work and all that. But I'd prefer my striker to be scoring goals. Particularly when easy chances come his way.
I don't know of any other club that takes the basics out of a position as much as we do - striker works hard but doesn't score, defenders can't defend but can pass it about badly, goalkeepers who can't stop goals.

We have given too many chances to bad footballers because they were cheap options, and where we are now is the direct result of that.

Expected him to start about 12 games, score about 3 goals and be injured for big parts of it. The season is going better for him than anyone else.

If we ever go two up top, with a striker who can score 15 goals a season he'd be terrific. A player who you can see, really enjoys his football. I just wish he'd stay on his feet a bit more.

I agree with this totally. The way we set up depends on using our main striker as a Speedy Gonzalez lookalike. His first and most important duty is to defend from the front and close people down. It seems that the very last expectation is for him to get into goal scoring positions. Like lots of people, in this unusual season, I’ve watched every second of every game home and away, no other team in this league operates like this.

He has been a striker/winger who doesn't score all his life. Not going to change now. Something like one every six games, I think, but it would be much worse had it not been for his golden spell in the Belgian league when Man Utd farmed him out. Doesn't have the instincts of a striker.
