I must be thick. What on earth does it mean to "keep someone/something honest"? DTS is driving me nuts with his constant use of it in commentary.

I must be thick. What on earth does it mean to "keep someone/something honest"? DTS is driving me nuts with his constant use of it in commentary. I think it means something to the tune of making people act in an "appropriate manner". However, psychologists would have a field day with someone who compulsively feels the need to repeat "honest" all the time. It's repeated so often that you get the impression he must have some sort of issues with the word. Really pisses me off hearing it all the time!

Last week he kept saying "agricultural tackle". At least I know/understand that one - it's years old. But this new phrase, I neither understand nor have ever heard anyone but DTS say it.

Shaun Barker on Rams TV just couldn’t bring himself to mention Huddersfield. It was all ‘them’, ‘they’, ‘the opposition’.
Hugely disrespectful. At least Oggy is balanced and gives credit where it’s due.

I must be thick. What on earth does it mean to "keep someone/something honest"? DTS is driving me nuts with his constant use of it in commentary. Generally it means that a player is forced back into their defensive duties/assignments rather than just being able to focus on attacking and being in possession (which is usually less structured).

I reckon DTS has picked up on the fans talking about this and is playing on it as a catch phrase now.
I personally like his biased commentary and knowledge of the players. His pre season coverage in Austria was the first time I heard him fill in and considering it's not his real role at Town, I think he does quite well.
Oggy/Glennon are a bit depressing at the moment with the way Town are playing. DTS never really slags off the club or players.

For all the Micky taking, for which I join in, I think he’s doing a cracking job in the circumstances. I too like his biased remarks and I’ve got my “keeping him honest” scorecard ready for Saturday.

Never seen the Town Twitter feed? David Threfall-Sykes is the media manager or similar role for Town. He does a lot of the coverage of matches and youth games on Twitter, using DTS at the end of the Tweet to identify himself.

At one stage in the second half he changed it up to "keep him interested". - I think just to get those playing DTS Bingo excited unnecessarily. Cos "keeping him interested" has no place in football commentary, unless it was "Duane Holmes is the eight of e ten year old with an attention span to match. At least the loose pass from Lewis O'Brien is keeping him interested."

My very favourite one so far was a few weeks ago when the ball was kicked out of play and landed next to him and Bromby. “ The balls landed close to our position, keeping us interested “.

Filling in when the game is as dull as some of towns have been leads to repetition...
When you say keogh to sarr, to keogh a thousand times and our shot count can be measured comfortably on the fingers of a one handed man there is going to be some real filling going on.?
The next will be describing the different echoes in an empty ground.. 😴
