what about a thread for Cardiff as well, and all the others in the promotion race! Seems like there is enough discussion on this thread which suggests the poster started off a good thread. Shit threads will soon disappear.

Got told on another thread by Ennius that Barnsley aren’t as good as us and I don’t know what I’m writing.
Holding my tongue till the end of the season.

A cock hair from being in league 1, and now with an outside chance of the playoffs, its quite obvious the reason for the turnaround...the manager, we`ll be playing them next season though. I hope so, it's still £2 a pint over there.

They're a solid side and have 12 more points than us despite us scoring more than them. Amazing what can be done when you hold on to leads... They have lost 8 pts from winning positions (4 draws) and we have lost 23 points from winning positions (7 defeats and a draw) Barnsley also have 13 points gained from losing positions (4 wins and a draw) whilst we have gained 6 points from losing positions (1 win and 3 draws).

That’s pretty self explanatory. There’s nothing there to suggest we lose money by splashing the cash. We simply got relegated and Turnover dropped.

Because Cardiff have a big budget and high wage structure so not really a model to copy. Barnsley don’t but they have a manager who gets all the players playing his system and have no chance of being relegated on a budget and wage structure lower than ours. They are a model we could copy. Not sure if you’re aware but the consortium that own Barnsley are incredibly wealthy. Not saying they’re splashing the cash, but they’re reputedly one of the richest clubs in the country now if you count combined wealth. Their personal wealth and that of the club aren’t the same. Don’t forget we have been relegated twice since they took over. At the start of last season we came back up and sold our keeper and both centre halves and heaped pressure on ourselves, almost went down. During the last league one promotion season we sold Brad Potts to balance the books - that could easily have derailed our charge. We are a selling club, it’s how we reinvest the money that’s key. We buy young players with potential. Some hit the ground running, some take time and get shipped out on loan like Mowatt did, some don’t make the grade and are moved on. There’s no big spending at Barnsley. Just a plan that has angered us fans at times, but now seems to be proving that it can work.

gotcha..thanks...Indeed Barnsley are a financially responsible club....

gotcha..thanks...Indeed Barnsley are a financially responsible club.... "The club was able to mitigate some of this impact by contractual reductions in player wages, however due to other fixed costs, an operating loss of £4.8m was incurred (2018: £1.4m loss). Not long after this we sold Pinnock & Lindsay to Brentford & Stoke respectively. Your suggestion that we’re a financially irresponsible is way off the mark. There are 4 clubs currently around the top 6 that a have spent the biggest part of their histories in the 3rd tier and bought their way up the leagues. Brentford owner has chucked £90 million at getting their ‘plan’ rolling, but everyone thinks they’re doing it on a shoestring. We’re probably all making a trading loss as things stand, what do we do? Sack the players and get in some paper lads?
