48 year old Richard Bland wins his first European tour Event at the 478th time of asking. Won in a playoff. Absolute top drama, not a dry eye in the house. Fair play to grit and determination.
Watched this earlier on the highlights show. He must have had his heart in his mouth when the lad he beat in the play off, fluffed the last 2 holes. He only had 1 bogey all 4 days, so to lose it would have been gutting, especially after his putt on the 18th to get him to -13.
When it went to the playoff I was convinced his chance had gone. He pulled of a great second shot on the 1st playoff hole (given the lie) - terrific entertainment.
Love him or loathe him, Ian the Postman Poulter having the round of the day . Be great for him to win a major.
I like Poulter. Made loads of money from playing golf, and not embarrassed to show it. An absolute legend in the Ryder cup as well.
I've not watched any of the PGA so far this weekend. Hopefully catch up today ready for the finale tomorrow.
The last four holes directly into a 25mph wind was simply crushing the field yesterday - top viewing. Its only 200 miles north of my gaff Kiawah island. Beautiful course - and no bunkers for the PGA - just sandy areas.

top drama it was. Glad to see Phil turning back the years. Also note the massive crowds at the end. no masks or social distancing going on there. What was the point in reducing the attendance you might ask.

Watched it today - follow him on social media and he is a real character. Daft as a brush but very engaging - very honest in his interviews and very down to earth. The kind of guy who I expect everyone on the tour was pleased to see win.
His interview after was very moving - his zoom with the missus and dog was......barking!!
That was a good watch. A bit like the F1 with Verstappen pouncing at the end, Rahm holed out 2 brilliant putts just at the right time. I think that might have been the first time he led?
Not sure why Oostheizen didn't go for it on his second shot on the last. Surely it was shit or bust time, unless he realised that second place and a big sackful of cash was preferable to a highly unlikely eagle?
