I’d say the release clause was a master stroke by a Lewis and his agent. He can simply ask several clubs who will pay him the most and it’s Forest. With that in mind with wages, it’s no surprise Toffolo fancies a bit of it as well.

I think with a release clause amount triggered the amount has to be paid in full on transfer. But any bid above can be paid over the course of their new contract with the buying club. So any club can offer more. That’s my understanding anyway.
