Read the thread Impact. Few differing opinions on there so you’ll have to be more specific - and let me know if this is a consensus across the entire board, for obvious reasons we would be endlessly tweaking the format to appease people who I believe didn’t even throw their hat into the ring to be an admin. Aren’t being a “clever dick” by the way, just there’s a lot of suggestions. Who’s are the best ? When a player signs or is sold it isn't a rumour, it has happened. There is no reason to lock and/or move threads from the main board to the rumours board. A lot of people agreed with the OP on that thread as shown by the likes. Eg when Hamer left there were a couple of threads from weeks before about his performances. Because someone dared mention that he'd been sold on them they were immediately locked. There's no reason to. All it does is mean another thread will get started by someone else. If I didn't have twitter I wouldn't have known Niasse had signed. As others said even if you liked the rumours board who's checking that in mid-March? If a thread has been made and moved then it's another pointless exercise that stifles debate rather than encouraging it. I personally don't see the need for a whole new board for transfers - there was nothing wrong with just having a sub-board in TOTT or leaving it in TOTT itself - but I'll ignore that for now for the main point. I do see where you are coming from. IIRC the move to a Transfers Rumours board was as a result of numbers threads appearing for 1 player. A lot of threads for one player. Any transfer talk would go in one place - one, two taps or two, three clicks away dependent on device. I wasn't part of that decision making process but recall it making sense to me at the time. Me, personally, I went to there to see the latest gossip (the equivalent of Ceefax for Town on a page, despite most of it being bullshit!) - I preferred that method as I could see ALL transfer talk in one place rather than decipher which was / wasn't on the main board. Appreciate your mileage may vary. However.. Please see the other response I've made further up. None of us are infallible but we all have opinions. You are part of a select few from the below numbers to voice their opinion. Which is fine! However, as you well know many adults lose their minds entirely when they go online so how many of the below people would be annoyed and calling for something else if we make more changes? Users Online in the Last 24 Hours 5 Staff, 387 Members, 2,811 Guests. For me. Everyone seems to log on and see different things when they land via the website, their bookmarks and or app(s). Mobile screens are formatted different to the desktop site. Which is optimum? What's the most common device used? I used Tapatalk for years on different devices. I can't do that and admin so I've binned it off. And I've now got a very different user experience as a result! I've not seen any analytics or a particularly user friendly admin suite since I've got into it so please realise that changes are made with the best of intentions for your experience AND admin reasons.

As I said I don't like the rumours board really but it isn't the end of the world. I don't use it but that's my choice. I simply don't get why threads get moved from the main board after someone has been transferred. At what point are we allowed to talk about them on the main board? Their 1st day in training? Day of their 1st match? When they score their first goal? The simple and sensible cut off is when they've actually signed. It isn't a rumour anymore at that point. If you're worried about other users not liking that - though I can't see why anyone would have an issue with keeping signed players on the main board - do a poll. Otherwise let us know when we're allowed to start a Niasse thread here without it getting moved.

You are correct for folks like you and me that are "signed in" permantly. But if you just visit occasionally and are not, you don't get the benefit of that feature. So the “occasional “ visitors will have to put up with it - and leave the frequent ones to carry on using something that’s working fine, surely. Surely most frequent users just bookmark TOTT and jump straight in to that forum only?

Whenever I come onto DATM the first thing I see in big bold letters is the word “NEW” in the Talk of the Town board, the transfer board or the off topic board. If it doesn’t say “NEW” that means there are no new posts since I last looked. Pretty easy to understand I’d have thought. Yup. You’d have thought it was pretty easy to understand but it obviously is not good enough for some people. Don’t think anyone is suggesting it’s difficult to follow, it’s the totally unnecessary pissing about with the board that infuriates. Surely the definition of a good admin is like that of a good referee, one who is rarely seen or heard and lets the board flow uninterrupted until something serious surfaces such as racism. Of the 3 I would suggest only Rigodon Rigsby fits that criteria at the moment

I wouldn’t know he’d signed if someone hadn’t started the thread on the main board. Why would you regularly go on the transfer rumours board 2 months after transfer deadline day and 3 months before the new one opens? On the off chance we sign someone out of contract? It’s natural to assume that one had died a death. There’s no logic to the format of this board whatsoever. Here’s a tip... look at how many people are viewing the board. I agree... it must be really difficult if you are not on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram... What an unnecessary comment Kenny, I thought you were better than that. Social fucking media is the scourge of this generation but you seem to be advocating its use rather than the board your are an admin for. Fucking nonsense.

I remember last summer when the admins brought in this new way of running the board and organising the threads. I can’t be bothered to check which admin, but one said they made the change based on a vote. But.. the vote was between the two of them. Incredible. What chance have we got? I used to come on here several times a day - now it’s usually just once or twice, depending on if I’ve commented on any threads. Where is the third admin and what has he/she done since being appointed? But, it’s their Friday night just as much as it’s ours, so that’s my moaning done and hopefully they ignore it. Just like they usually ignore most people who have a whinge. Best post of 2021. The tears are running down my legs.

Because Wee Eck is only putting forward list candidates, it won't affect the pro-independence vote. Of course... I won't be voting for either. It's like North Korea up here at the moment.

He can stand his own corner, but comments like this are hardly endearing to anyone and quite rewarding of a 'sarcastic comment' in return. IMO of course I thought we were all supposed to be adults.

I don't remember Geoff resorting to sarcastic put downs. I seem to have hurt a lot of people's feelings, but it is Friday night. No feelings hurt here. Just expressing an opinion. I just think that there has been a lot of unnecessary sarcasm from the admins recently. Differing opinions are to be expected, but I don't think sarcastically putting down some posters, who offer a different perspective in a constructive fashion is the way to administer a site.

This is probably the first time ever, but I've seen a few sarcastic put downs over the past few months from admins that I think have been unnecessary and unpleasant. Particularly when aimed at posters offering a constructive opinion.

Are we allowed to discuss Niasse on TOTT? And if not, why not? Think that was the crux of the issue. 'If you don't like it, go somewhere else' comments aside.

Again, you have failed to even debate one point of my post. You are unable to convey a sophisticated response to anyone who dares criticise you or the other admins. You resort to sarcasm, which paints a very clear picture. You give certain posters on here far too many chances. Which again, paints a very clear picture. You appointed a third admin, whereby ‘chocolate fireguard’ springs to mind. Another clear picture is painted. It’s absolutely fine for you to admit you’re wrong. We would think better of you. But all this hyperbole is such a shame, especially from an admin.

This is probably the first time ever, but I've seen a few sarcastic put downs over the past few months from admins that I think have been unnecessary and unpleasant. Particularly when aimed at posters offering a constructive opinion. See, I would never have used the term 'board politics'. That's just something I don't 'see' and how we all interpret things differently is such a big issue on this site due to the 'written word' meaning different things to different people. Anyway.. People's online habits were entirely different back on the Rivals site. A truly, truly God awful site to navigate from my memory - read and replying to a thread was an absolute chore. 14 plus years ago? Far less traffic as less internet connectivity on a mobile basis, less devices etc. Add Hoyle Era since, no promotion, premiership, lower attendances back then etc. Never mind Brexits and Covids for Offtopic to fester in. I too have 'fond' memories of that site (or rather life around that time in general) too but to compare the two is like apples and oranges in my opinion. We're all a bit longer in the tooth for certain. It is NOT new and novel anymore We've even got a corner of this site dedicated to Mental Health. In my opinion - that wouldn't have ever been a feature back then, indicative that even the 'positive' language used nowadays is entirely different to then. Social media was in its early days really, Twitter didn't exist (or barely did) back then and all it's racial and poisonous rubbish wasn't mainstream - almost a daily feature on BBC Sport to see who has been racially abused. WUM's were far less frequent IMO and I don't recall banned posters coming back online with different persona time after time after time. After a glance I can tell you.. There are c2000 reported posts for petty, infantile abuse to more serious matters. I don't really recall bans and reporting posts back then, though my memory is hazy.. Online is an entirely different place to be now. And believe me, this isn't a 'cry me a river' post - I just don't think any comparison to how this site was in yesteryear is relevant at all tbh. Any 'reaction' you get from Admins is a human one, because they aren't robots and are just like you - a human. This is a free site, voluntary "service" if you like delivered by admins in their own time. You will not always get service with a smile as a result. It isn't a job. No one is getting paid. There are no perks. My first couple of days in Admin mode I was accused of being Left Wing (Leftback more like) and the same person as BigDaddyG. I was also PM'd to provide SAR level details on previous 'bad form' by a poster because of a yellow card they received and were outraged about. My post history has gone up significantly recently in responding to this and 'admining'. I don't want any praise or reward for it. But I most certainly will not be taking any shit for it either All I can suggest is.. If there is any content on a post, from admin or otherwise that you think is so unpleasant it breaks the rules then please report it. It will get looked at I guarantee. Everyone 'needs to bring their adult' when they come on this site - myself included. I'm sure we've even got on admin on a yellow card currently! I personally wouldn't expect any preferential treatment and I know they don't either. I can tell you however, when it comes to adjudicating reported posts - the time and 'effort' put into being impartial and doing the right thing for all concerned outweighs that which is believed to occur. Keep the Faith. UTT

Clear picture s to you Ricky, but not to me! I think for a couple of years at least all admin action taken has been logged on the relevant log - I believe for transparency. There are no favourites or free passes. It would be incredibly onerous (and pointless) to keep a log of all the reported posts for you to see but as you do see a log of ALL of the actions taken... We have a number of posters on final warnings but you wouldn't necessarily see that unless you were an admin. Again, if you think a post breaks the rules report it and we can look at it. That's the only mechanism we've got of policing this board inline with the rules which have recently been refreshed if you've not seen. I'll tell you quite openly, I don't read every thread and post on this site. And I don't intend to. Chocolate fireguard?! Nice. I won't take it personally and we get reported posts for less!! - As per my previous post, what change(s) were you expecting me to deliver?

He can stand his own corner, but comments like this are hardly endearing to anyone and quite rewarding of a 'sarcastic comment' in return. IMO of course I thought we were all supposed to be adults. Got to say that Geoff's board was far superior to what we have but it's what it is.

Has anyone actually addressed the main issue yet rather than just moving it to another less used area of the site?
