I’d read somewhere that City hadn’t agreed to it?
If they want to do it, let them. I couldn’t care less about those six clubs even if it does fragment our league system. As long as Town have a competitive league to play in, I will continue to exist happily. I would also be happy never to return to the Etihad, Anfield, Old Trafford etc

Why should the players be banned from playing for their country? They are contracted to the clubs and have done no wrong.

Isn't there a proposal being discussed next week about having all the Champions League teams in a division of 32 teams with the top 16 qualifying for the knock out stage after 10 games played? That'll mean an increase of 4 games per club in the preliminary stages compared to how the competition is structured at the moment.

People trying to protect their corners with threats. If the money clubs want it to happen, it will happen but they all need to be together. The German and France angle make me think this will be another non starter for now but something will happen further down the line.

Fuck them. Seriously, fuck them. Those greedy bastards have damaged football enough already, time to stop the rot and let them have their way. And after three seasons of Man United finishing second bottom - to the consternation of their Surrey-based "fans" - if they try to come crawling back, fuck them again. Apologies for the bad language, but this bare-faced greed makes me sick. I hope they all go bust. No need to apologise. You are spot on. I’ve said it before, it will be great watching Man Utd finishing bottom of the league for a few seasons, all the prawn sandwich brigade fecking off to the etihad or anfield. Bring it on. One stipulation. Don’t think of coming back you greedy wankers.

Fair play to Gary Neveille, he's tearing right into them live on Sky. Sez that all 6 'big' English clubs should be serverly punished/relegated etc. etc...

Will we be the only club to have won the league 3 times in a row if Liverpool, United and Arsenal get kicked out of English football?

I'll never watch a European Super League match. I can't imagine 99% of football fans would want to watch something as soulless as that either. Football sadly isn't what it used to be I haven’t watched a Champions League match for a decade or more since Barcelona beat Man Utd in a final way back as it has pretty much become soulless group games or the same teams in the knockout rounds.

Unbelievable really that we have won the league three times in a row but haven't been invited to join this breakaway. I hope Phil has been on the phone asking questions

I guess it will be a closed shop where the bottom teams will still bet rewarded for failure, thats going to make things dead exiting, as we know only too well near the end of the season your attention is drawn to the bottom of any division because of the potential consequences, a large proportion of the season will just be a series of dead rubbers.

Don't always agree with everything Gary Neville says but he is absolutely spot on with this. It's reassuring to see him being so passionate about it.

I actually hope it happens. I’ve begun to fall out of love with football (town aside) and the reason being is what money has done to the game. If those clubs fuck off, the megabucks will disappear from the ‘premier’ league meaning a lot more sensible contracts etc. then we can reset the English game back to when it was possible for anyone to win the top division.

What irony? They are 2 people employed by an organisation giving their thoughts on it. Neville has lambasted his own club over it. If it was the CEO of sky that'd be different. 2 people paid to commentate and give their opinions are doing just that. Its just my opinion of course but i dont mind Gary neville as a co commentator, yes hes Man utd but hes given them some harsh criticism in the past while at the same time praising bitter rivals Man city, same with Liverpool, he dosnt make disparaging remarks about them but has praised them when its deserved, it can be so easy to let bias comments slip out now and again but he keeps a lid on things admirably. I agree. I like Gary Neville talks a lot of sense and he was very complimentary to Town when we were in the PL.

Its no coincidence that its likely 3 of the 6 and maybe even 4 wont qualify for the champions league next season.

I'd be very wary of the real agenda here. This could easily be a crude attempt to get changes in the current league structure. "Ok we won't leave but we want...."
I can see 18 team Premier League, with 2 up 2 down, withdrawal from the EFL cup, mid season break.
The Premier League are so spineless they will agree.

Are Arsenal going for comedy value?
Strong responses so far. FA should say any player playing can’t play for the national team
Greedy sods

I feel blessed at having the memories of football in the 70s and 80s . When only the champions played in the European Cup and you got knocked out if you lost over two legs in the first round . Society is in many ways better now , the birth of the internet etc. But when it comes to football and all the greed and all the var bollocks.. seriously its just a load of guff. I'm at the age now that I really don't give a flying fuck about what Man utd Liverpool and Chelsea do. I mean Chelsea.. come on .. can still remember as if only yesterday when they were pulling 8000 fans in every week . Who cares ? Up the town

I think the best way to deal with this proposed shit show is to say to the clubs, OK off you go but you will be playing in a league that is not FIFA sanctioned. Thus their players would not be available for international selection. That embargo could be lifted if and when a player returns to approved clubs. The European super league would then consist of lesser lights and older players seeking a last wedge. All this is reliant on FIFA and UEFA supporting the national associations and not selling out to the breakaway clubs. For clubs like ours, in all probability, not much will change but maybe it opens the door slightly for smaller clubs to get into the top league Let's not forget that both FIFA and UEFA have their own agendas on making much more money than they do now. I wouldn't trust them at all and take anything they say with a huge pinch of salt. UEFA are expected to rubber stamp an enlarged CL tomorrow 🤔

Talking about “sporting integrity “ while allowing big clubs entry to the new CL based on “previous European performance “ even if they don’t qualify through league placing. Like the majority on here I’d like to see the top 6 go and just play each other for the next x years. See how long before they get bored with that And when they want to come back the National League would be a good starting point

So further up this thread you are having a go at Neville, now you agree? Blimey are you on the committee for this breakaway by any chance😜 That was a brilliant piece from Neville on the subject, knows both the management side of football, but is a fan that really cares about our game.
