Part of the appeal of the Champions League (allegedly, I haven't watched a game for a few years now) is that it's not the norm, it's something special and outside the general monotony of each national League.
I'm sure that fans of those clubs and the general public will soon tire of regular clashes between the biggest teams.
The old adage from Men Behaving Badly will come to pass ..... "When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits?"

Promote the top 9 from the Championship, no relegation in the football league, relegate 3 premiership teams, promote the top 6 of the conference with promotion to make up the correct numbers and kick out Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool. They’ll miss the domestic leagues more than the leagues will miss them and it’ll bite them on the arse in a few years time once the money and novelty has worn off!!!

You have to look at who are pushing it, Americans and look how the NFL works. Fans mean nothing plus they are going to have a salary cap to stop players wages just taking all the money out the clubs. This is all for oversea markets such as China, America and the rich middle east. It's easy to say let them piss off but there will be huge repacusions to a lot of other clubs, including us. The current TV deal will be cancelled as they will have clauses built in. This means no more parachute payments for us and how are clubs going to cope without the money from premier League to pay those contracts? You are forced to offer those deals to compete in the league Does the current EPL TV deal finish at the end of next season? Can't imagine they will be able to get this up and running with all the commercials & TV deals in place for next season. So hopefully Dean's parachute payments are safe! Feels like a negotiation tactic to me, to wrestle a bigger share of the current pie. And it seems like they have overplayed their hand given the reaction across the spectrum of politics, football authorities, and fans. But I suspect they will have expected this reaction, so will be interesting to see what happens from here.

Why should the players be banned from playing for their country? They are contracted to the clubs and have done no wrong. They should leave if they want to play International football. I bet there would be something in their contracts about them being PL players and once the clubs move they wouldn’t be so a possible breach of contract. Once they see their wages go up though they wouldn’t think twice about not playing international football. If it does happen it won’t last as supporters won’t want to watch it.

Can we ask then to hold off for 5 years? We have a cunning plan to make us a top 30 club if they can bear with us whilst we get some dosh together.

Sounds like a great idea to get rid of all the plastic fans. Globally they dwarf the real fans so I’ve got no doubt it would work if they have the bottle to go through with it. The hypocrisy of all the current bodies is laughable though they’re all just as bad and are only pissed of that they’re not a part of it.

Format. 15 founding members are there to stay. 5 others can join if their performances merits it. Unlike the other 15 who can be as shit as they like and still qualify.

Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool have tweeted out about it. Safe to say the reaction from their fans wasn't positive.
Still nothing from either Manchester club.

Let the top 6 clubs disapear and not come back. I am sure Arsenal and Spurs fans will get fed up of being bottom 2 year after year. I for one wont pay to watch a league with no promotion or relgatiin. What is the point?

I wouldn't want to be one of the five make weights invited in. The finances are structured so they can't compete.
So much for getting rid of having to play second rate teams.
It'll go the same way as the Colombian League of the fifties, when they tried to setup outside the governing bodies.

I wonder if the teams involved would take on a domestic feeder club?

I wonder if the teams involved would take on a domestic feeder club? I’m sure something like that will happen. Also as these prima donnas can’t play 2 games a week the domestic league will be weakened by teams playing squad players instead

Bloody hell play in the PL and this SL midweek, wonder who dreamt this up? "In recent months extensive dialogue has taken place with football stakeholders. Yes exactly stakeholders ie rich Yanks, Arabs etc who have no clue about the game!!!

What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.
- Sir Bobby Robson

Immediate expulsion from the English game with this season's records to be expunged.
No relegation from the PL or EFL this season, top 6 in each league gets automatically promoted.
Chelsea thrown out of the FA Cup, to be replaced by Southampton.
EFL Cup final to be cancelled.
£100m fines for each club with the proceeds to be filtered down the pyramid.
All participating players to be banned from representing their country.
That's all I can think of at the moment in terms of what needs to happen.

Each founding club of the ESL will be receiving a payment of 3.5 billion.
Every club involved should be ashamed of themselves

The really worrying thing is I'm not sure the owners will care what the fans think.
Take Utd. How much of their income comes from UK fans? 10% maybe? The rest is TV deals, foreign markets, sponsorship, merchandise.
Even if all their proper fans who would care about this never spent a penny with the club again, financially Utd would be better off.
And the owners don't care about the long term future of the club. They're in it for the short term, either to make money or using it as a play toy.

Football is already well on it’s way to eating itself and this just pushes it on quicker. This is being fuelled by greed, nothing else, and has been coming. They can all go sit & spin for me.

Football turned to shit a long time ago, so those who think a Super League will fail are wrong, it'll go down a storm in certain parts of the world - and as long those parts of the world pay for the product, the people in charge won't care.
I'm glad I sacked it off a few seasons ago, couldn't give a fuck what they do now - infact maybe the game for the also rans (those that aren't funded by billionaire meglomaniacs) will become better. Ditch all the hype, ditch the VAR, bring back a bit of contact and take the game back to what it was.

This news is quite timely for us Town fans. Many of us, myself included have not been enjoying what the Club have been giving us on or off the pitch.
I tell you what though, imagine being a fan of those 6 English Clubs?. We should all be grateful we follow a proper Club with proper supporters that is not foreign owned (think Chansiri also).
As tough as it can be (and is at the moment), give me a set-up where your Team can be relegated and promoted any day of the week and a Club where the Local Lads that have watched from the stands can potentially play for the Club they support and it isn't all about money and hand picking the worlds best Players and can you imagine the salaries they will get?.
Football needed a reset, this is a great opportunity for the proper Clubs in England to run sustainable businesses. I hope a lot of the money goes out of football in this Country, let's get the wages under control and stop making agents multi millionaires. Let these Clubs get on with it for the Asian and Far East markets.

Let these Clubs get on with it for the Asian and Far East markets. Absolutely. The period of rugby league's Super League where they ditched promotion and relegation was shocking. Half the teams on the beach with half a season to go. It was the fans' apathy to the situation that made them bring in back. Who is bothered about watching a dead rubber between Arsenal and Athletico Madrid on a Tuesday night when there's absolutely nothing riding on it? Let's be honest, this is all because there are 4 Champions League spots for English teams, and we have 6 moneybags clubs. 6 into 4 doesn't go, so let's make something that does. Their rationale extends no further than that.
