just because he's young and may potentially be an okay player in the future doesn't mean he can't be slated. As of right now, he is league 2 level at very best Are you being serious? The lads made the odd mistake but to call him L2 standard is just not true Seems Skint Terrier adheres to the philosophy that you're only as good as your last game... Admittedly, if you could guarantee that he'd never improve from where he is now then I'd suggest moving SH out of the club - but he's not even 21 yet FFS. There's a discussion elsewhere on the forum about another of our former academy youngsters - now plying his trade in this division, getting regular first team football at a club that's currently in the playoff positions. Matt Crooks was not in the same league as Scott High at the same age, now look at him. SH has a lot of potential & whilst it's possible that he will never realise that potential, writing him off now seems extraordinarily short sighted.

The amount of 'never make a footballer', 'league 2 at best', we have heard, mainly from the same group of posters, you'd think they would support young players and give them a chance to grow into senior team roles. Poor stuff.

I can't help but feel we'd be better off sending Daly up to Harrogate and bringing Diarra back... I agree that Diarra looks the brighter prospect but regular first team football at League 2 level vs sporadic appearances at Championship level (if he's lucky) should mean he's better equipped to make an impact next season & beyond. I'm happy where he is. Plus I'm not sure moving Daly from Hartlepool to Harrogate would necessarily help him an awful lot - might as well have just left him where he was. I can see Daly potentially filling the Sinani role though. Daly drifts in & out of games, but Sinani does that as well. Sinani is better on set pieces but Daly is a better finisher. I can see similarities in their attributes tbh. Daly did exceptionally well at Hartlepool by all accounts. Now - despite me beginning to lose faith that he'd make it at this level - he gets a chance to shine after his first experience of regular first team men's football.

You can't educate pork I think the saying is.

Just give them a chance to develop without being judged all the time.

I don't know if he knows how he gets 'judged' on here but why would you risk that for a young local player in his early playing days having made it through to the first team?

Scott played 2 really awful passes v Swansea, the bloke next to me immediately shouted "get him off," think he's done well in Hogg's absence, he can pick a pass. Let's get behind our young lads, that's what real supporters do - UTT.

Matty Daly now gone on loan to our friends at Valley Parade. very odd I was thinking the same. Hartlepool seemed to be looking after him, then we recall him - seemingly to alleviate an injury crisis - before sending him out on another loan at an equivalent standard. * If the loan wasn't doing him any good, then fine - but it seems it was. * If we were recalling him to get a loan at a better standard (see Crichlow), then fine - but this is a sideways move (there are only 4 points separating the two sides). * Even if a move to our feathered friends at Valley Parade is better for his development - why lead Hartlepool to believe that it's due to an injury crisis here? I'm not sure moving Daly from Hartlepool to Harrogate would necessarily help him an awful lot - might as well have just left him where he was. I feel the same about the move to Bradford as I would about Harrogate. Seems pretty shoddy from our club if I'm honest. Unless... The only explanation I can think of is that as a club we've written him off making it here & we're letting a couple of different clubs have a look at him to give him the best chance of getting fixed up elsewhere (i.e. the hope that Hartlepool & Bradford will both put in bids for him in the summer).

Why recalled from Hartlepool to go to Bratfud? Maybe getting him used to being booed?

Must have been a decent shadow in a 2 man midfield with O'Brien during the recent unbeaten run whilst covering for Hogg! I know Town 'fans' love a scapegoat, but destroying a 20 year old home grown player after a dodgy 45 minutes performance is taking the biscuit. So you can honestly say he’s contributed massively during this spell? 0 goals 0 assists whilst playing central midfield all season aren’t great stats. Also, I wouldn’t saying having an opinion on datm is ‘destroying’ him. Do you reckon he comes on datm and reads it? Don’t get me wrong I’m sure everyone wants him to be a success but so far the lad has a lot of learning to do. I don't think those stats are that relevant to someone who has generally coverred for the Hogg, i.e. defensive cm. Also, I don't think anyone has an issue with criticising him, most probably have to a degree. It's just some have done it in a really twatty manner. It's worse on social media, but there's a handful on here too.

Why recalled from Hartlepool to go to Bratfud? Maybe getting him used to being booed? Hartlepool have just appointed a new manager, according to the piece on the Town website, so maybe there was an issue there. Town will be speaking to Matty regularly so this may be driven by his feedback. We can’t know all the details.

I think the idea is to test him in a new environment. New dressing room, new team mates, new coaches etc. He was a regular starter with Hartlepool I believe, he now has to get into the Bradford side and stay in. Loans are often as much a test of the person’s character as much as footballing ability.
Also Bradford have an outside chance of making the play off, so lots to play for. Whereas Hartlepool are midtable and probably not going down or getting anywhere near the play offs.
On balance a good move for the lad in his development

Hasn't featured all that much for Hartlepool since the new manager came in. Started 5 of their last 10 and was subbed off in three of those. One game he didn't make the bench, three times an unused sub and 4 minutes coming on as a sub in another.

To Test him in an environment which is more demanding.ie bigger crowds, with higher expectation of success ( ie get used the groan when they make a mistake). I had long chat with an ex manager of Bradford and he said how a player could excel at a club like scunthorpe or Rochdale.etc. but come to a bigger club with expectations and just cant perform. And equally the opposite can happen. It's down to their inner confidence and mind set.

Never thought of the Sad lads as being bigger than Rochdale or Scunny tbh I suppose it depends how the chickens fans see themselves vs Hartlepool ones. If Hartlepool fans are just glad to consolidate after promotion last year & Chickens think they "should be" or "deserve to be" in a higher division, then even though there's not much to choose between the 2 sides in terms of ability - there'll be more pressure on him in the 2nd half of the season at his new club & it gives him experience of being able to cope with that. Or it could just be a case of giving him experience of playing at a couple of different clubs in Lg2 because the club feels that's his level & they're doing their best by him (& that in turn helps with recruitment - i.e. "if you don't make the grade here we'll still do what we can to get you fixed up with a career elsewhere" = More reason for promising youngster to choose us over a club that washes its hands of you if you don't make the first team).

But it's fair to say they have bigger crowds playing with higher expectations than Hartlepool, in a bigger stadium. And many fans /opposition players will see them as the big fish in that division and up their game against them. I can easily see why an aspiring young pro would be more "up" for a game in front of 10k at valley Parade compared to 3k in Hartlepool.
