I see you have banned el Mel now. This place is fukin pathetic. By an Admin who hasn’t posted since August 2016. Lovely. Possibly a generic admin avatar to stop the personal abuse of admins which seems to have become prevalent recently? Just a reminder, membership of DATM isnt mandatory.

Just a reminder, membership of DATM isnt mandatory. It’s gone to crap on here with lots of blue on blue in-fighting. It’s all a bit sad really, maybe things will improve once we start playing football. Mel seems to have lost the plot a bit; he’s turned into some sort of forum Rambo. Which is a shame as he’s apparently a sound lad in ‘real life’. Maybe this forum should have a close season?

Roll on today’s game and we can focus on the football.
I have no issue with folks using one or the other forums personally, posting across both. The tittle tattle evident on both forums is a bit playground-esque though.
I’m sure most posters across both forums are sound in person, but naturally folk do get het up behind a keyboard whatever their background or beliefs.
Anyhow, Happy Yorkshire Day folks, let’s bask in the glory of God’s Own Country for the day. 💓💙

So there's 3 or 4 admins now? There are 3 admins. We have taken the decision to publish decisions using the generic "admin" account which we all have access to to avoid any accusations of bias, conflict of interest etc. or any abuse being directed at individuals. We've also implemented a process of emailing banned users on their registered email address as the way the forum works means that they wouldn't be able to read the PM we send them explaining the decision.

Ok - that's fair enough. Thanks for the explanation.

Good policy to e-mail people with the reason they're being banned / sin-binned.
From that, because when rubbernecking the other forum (it's funny), I've found out that the post that got Mel (temporarily) sin-binned was one aimed at me, which is news to me ("Or are you just a soft gobshite").
The insinuation, I guess, is that I was the one reported it.
It was a bit pathetic, it was cowardly and it was infantile. I didn't report it, though. Just laughed it off, as you might a bunch of ten year olds who think they're gangsters trying to act hard.
So I repeat - as best as I can remember, in my twelve-odd years on here, I've only ever reported one post. It was several months ago, I'd do the same thing again, and the poster in question and I have exchanged messages (outside of DATM), including a short discussion about that report, as recently as last week.

I'd love to see a league table of posters who've hit the report button the most times. That would be interesting.

I've not reported anyone except those kitchen spammers we used to get. I'm not sure how to get hold of them now to own up, but if you're somebody who flooded football forums with spam about selling kitchens and had a spate of being reported a few years ago - that was me.
I snitched and I'm not even sorry.

Personally I think you should tell the person when you are reporting them That would be a very good thing - yes. Can the admins do anything about that? I don't personally think this would work - people should be free to report stuff as and when they see fit without fear of retribution - naming is effectively shaming in that sense, and let's be honest (without wanting to open up recent wounds) we don't want to see people getting abused for reporting posts - it's bad enough that we get abused for acting on the reports. If people choose to declare that they've reported posts, that's fine. A slight tangent, but a relevant one - I've seen a lot of comments over time that say something like "The forum is being ruined by posters like X posting stuff like Y" and when we explain that this may well be true but our policy is only to act on reported posts, the reply is "I would never report a post". I suppose my view is it's a bit like the argument about not voting - your dissatisfaction with the outcome is partly your fault. If you refuse to ever report a post please refrain from rhetoric like "the admins are letting so-and-so get away with stuff".

Is it Admin policy to report posts themselves? Isn't that obvious ? The fact admins require people to report posts gives you the answer

Is it Admin policy to report posts themselves? Nope. We discuiss things we see sometimes - effectively a "let's keep an eye on this thread" or whatever, but we don't report posts for action - this theoretically avoids accusations of bias/ conflict of interest whatever.

I’m not signing up to that cesspit but want to congratulate Hukkas for airing his views on there with honesty & intelligence.
As expected, he was met with bile.
Again, many thanks to the admins on here for keeping such hateful views from this site.

Just visited the new forum out of curiosity. Only 6 of the top 20 threads are football related. In other words 70% of threads cover: Oti Cancer Death Illegal immigration COVID Climate change Homophobia Other non-football/Town crud
What a bunch of anxious, angry, irrelevant wasters. Good luck to them. Thank goodness we’ll now be spared their crap and we can all focus on supporting and discussing our beloved football club.

I agree and I hope for the same thing, though recently there have been a couple of incidents where a few of us on here have been targeted - and that, I feel, is beyond the pale. Hence me stepping in to try to argue that point; I failed in trying to reason with them. That said, I do really hope the two forums can co-exist, completely separately. No sniping from either side, no mentioning posters from "the other" forum by name - and in particular, highlighting personal details or airing petty grievances. We're all (supposed to be) grown-ups. It's all a bit petty and vindictive, and I really hope it dies down. That might be easier if one or two people didn't come back here to have a snipe; not suggesting anything so ridiculous and disproportionate as a ban; just that the odd agent provocateur just think twice. I won't be back on there. (Though as an aside - can't believe, to the best of my knowledge and as far as I can tell, that an old DATM favourite from Kent hasn't leapt onto the new forum - seems right up his street)

I'm aware of a few occasions where they will refer to folk on here, including me, needlessly during their general discussions and it just seems a but daft, like a stalky ex. But it will calm down. Good luck to them.
