Didnt go today, but just have that feeling about him. Has some confidence and his technical ability is very high for a player plucked from that level
he's going to be a player.

One reason why I'm not joining calls for wholesale changes to the strategy despite my lack of optimism for this season. There's a lot we're getting very, very right. Sorba Thomas is the best current example. Josh Koroma is another.
Picking up undervalued players with potential & patiently developing these "project players" looks like reaping some rewards. I don't know whether Danny Grant or Danel Sinani will succeed here or not, & jury is still out on Rolando Aarons (I haven't given up on him yet) but even if they all come to nowt, if you're getting one spectacular success, they'll pay for those that fail.

It's amazing how much a player can change in 2 months. All of a sudden he is playing like he knows he is the best player on the pitch, confidence flowing through him. Love watching players like that after putting up with players like Diakhaby who looked petrified everytime he stepped on the pitch

Good control and decent vision, makings of a very good player but in the end its all about consistency. Often looked to have time on the ball even in tight situations which is a good thing to see. Because of direction of play we saw more of him up close first half.

Coming away from match, I listened to Radio Derby. They interviewed Curtis Davies who comes across as a very honest and decent bloke. After admitting that he got nowhere near his goal and that Colwill put it in, he started eulogising about Sorba Thomas. Said the lad's delivery was unreal and that he was an absolute tip quality player who caused them all sorts of problems. He went on to say that if he was in charge at any PL club, he would sign him up now. He was head and shoulders above anyone else on the field.

Perhaps a lesson to those that seem so scathing whenever we sign players from low levels for relitively small fees. Signs are he'll do more on the pitch in the next few weeks alone than Mbenza and Diakhaby did in a similar position between them for 3 years for our £20m.
fair play to Sorba, fair play to whoever scouted him and fair play to whoever sanctioned signing him.

Just seen the highlights on Quest.
That was indeed a hell of a ball from Thomas for our goal.

Are many? Not sure. I think most town fans like to see it, but of course you need to also bring in players of quality to help them transition. Most will fail, some will take time, some will slot straight in. I just had a feeling during pre-season that he would be one to step up.... early days still but promising signs

The' FFS we were signing internationals from CL clubs not long ago and now we're getting nobody's from the conference.. where the money gone etc etc " brigade. We're the living breathing football club illustration that spending loads of money means bugger all. If you think of our best 6 or 7 players then added together their transfer fees come to about a third of what we paid for Sobhi !! The two biggest sales we've had ( by a long way at £15m each ) came from a danish youth side and League 1 for about £2m the pair.

But i think most just want a bit of balance... nobody wants us to be top spenders but when we sell players on for £££ we ideally should invest around half the income in a quality player + some punts. Too much recently we've relied on just the punts... and as much as we sell ourselves as this club for youngsters/lower league talent to get game time, it has in some cases not been beneficial. Shame we dont have much choice as we are paying off the ex chairman who sanctioned the multi million pound players.

I do think there's a balance to be struck between the "project player/punt" type of signing & the "first-team-ready" ones. Too many "project players" & you can leave yourself short whilst you wait for them to get to first team standard. Too many "first-team-ready" players & you end up spending more than you need to, don't get the same value and potentially block the pathway for your project/punt/youth prospect.
We do look woefully short in a couple of areas - but I'd also suggest that the main 2 areas we're short in - it's not because we're still waiting for a project player to come good, we simply have neither the quality nor the potential for those weaknesses to be sorted out this season.
I must admit though, if the last few years have done anything - they've made me re-evaluate what constitutes an exciting signing.

From not looking like a pro footballer at all last season to being a roaring success this, the transformation is nothing short of remarkable.

From not looking like a pro footballer at all last season to being a roaring success this, the transformation is nothing short of remarkable. Must admit, I saw enough in him last season to be cautiously optimistic. vs Norwich he had nothing to lose as the game had more than gone by the time he came on, but he did look to cause them problems. I recall another game where he put in an absolute peach of a cross for Danny Ward that the "striker" failed to get on the end of. I was making comparisons between him & Koroma - specifically "he isn't as good as JK yet, but he's better than JK was at the same stage in his HTFC career". That said, players develop at different rates & I just thought he was reaching his ceiling more quickly than the chap from Leyton Orient. Seems I placed his ceiling far too low because he's already bursting through that & looks like he's capable of even more. I was cautiously optimistic, but with the emphasis on "cautiously". That caution is being quite rapidly broken down & I'm now at a stage where I question our ability to keep him here this time next year.

His pre season interview on the club website was impressive. Modest but knows he has talent and wants to play in the premier league. So refreshing to see a lad who has come from non-league and knows that hard work is required alongside natural talent. Some of these lads we’ve signed from PL academies have a different mindset, think they’ve made it at 20 as they have a BMW and big bank balance but they don’t have the desire and think a club like Town is beneath them. Whereas the likes of Sorba appreciate where they are. If he goes on to play for a PL club I’m sure we’ll all be happy as he seems like a good lad and he’ll have made us a tidy profit. Win win 👍🏻

He showed plenty when he got on the pitch last season. I wasn’t happy that he didn’t get more game time as every time he got on the pitch he looked dangerous

Probably the first time we’ve had someone who can deliver with quality since Gary Roberts left. Great to see.

Says it all about the negativity of Town fans when since the kick off yesterday we’ve had over 75 posts about Schofield yet only 20 odd about Thomas and his excellent performance. Even a Derby player was gushing in his praise. Some people are only happy when they’re having a go.

Probably the first time we’ve had someone who can deliver with quality since Gary Roberts left. Great to see. Its a strange feeling actually thinking we might score everytime we win a corner. A big change from the last umpteen seasons when we may aswell have just refused to have the corner and let the opposition have a goal kick

Clear MoM yesterday. Next thing he has to learn is to make half a yard if space for a shot, and the confidence to take it. Just like Koroma did. With that, Curtis Davies' words will be prophetic.

I actually think there was a flash of a good player in bits last season, though I did not expect him to progress anywhere near as much as he appears to have, but you have to realise last season was a huge step up for him & he was bound to take some time to adjust. Mind you, there was not much sign of the killer set pieces

Quite rightly so, the abuse of players should be brought onto question, it was borderline against the rules of the site on one player this weekend.
