In @bermudabarnacle 's defence, he has every right to share his opinion and defend his stance when challenged on it. Even though I strongly disagree with him. Both on the racism thing and the request from admin to discuss it on the main board. There's an argument for sticking it in Politics & Current Affairs, but I can't see that he's done anything wrong. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you're open-minded.

It's not petty at all. I reported the post about the dog-shit yesterday because I don't want to read that disgusting, abusive shit about our players. In making my report I explained that I felt the context of it being directed at a black player made it worse. Then the admin, who knew my reasoning, because he'd seen the report, asked my to explain my position on the board. In my view, that's a dodgy admin, and not the way that reports should be handled. So because you are the only one that equates dog shit on doors with racism we have to continually put up with the bollocks you're spouting. Fuck me sideways, reporting a post that ONLY you see anything racist in, what a tosspot π€¬ It is unfortunately the world we now live in.

Offers were made, Maynard advised us. Iβm sure we have all had offers we have turned down, maybe Saturday night in Johnnys was an exception. However Mbenza will have to live with the outcome of his decision longer than breakfast Sunday morning. It has been a mess from his initial loan and subsequent purchase. I just hope there is an outcome that allows all parties to move on. It will not be good for him or the club if this remains unresolved.

Has anyone smeared excrement on Mbenza's door handle yet? In my made up world, Iβve always (never) associated dog shit on a door handle as being a thing only done to a blokeβ¦. So that makes it sexist. You therefore are sexist. Donβt challenge me on thisβ¦ itβs my truth!!

At some point we may get back to the "Player prefers to stay at a football club of his choice despite being offered the chance to play for a team that is in a country that he doesn't want to go to and get paid less money*" conversation.
*probably.. Not IKO.

Not IKO. Yes, it's sickening disloyalty to the club that the player won't agree to leave the club in order to get less money in a country he doesn't want to go to. Particularly, just a couple of months after the incredible loyalty the club showed to him by binding him into a contract in order to extract some cash, while not actually wanting to play him at all. Back in my day, the players would run through a brick wall for the shirt ... and to lose the shirt too.

Its a pity Mbenza doesn't live on an aeroplane. Then someone could smear shit on the wing, which seems much more apt than a door handle.

Anyone who cares about this club had better hope and pray that some idiot doesn't take this too far.
The club has done something breathtakingly stupid. It has enforced an extension of the contract of one of its best paid players, who is deeply unpopular with a section of the fans, with apparently no intention of playing him, in the hope of extracting some additional cash.
Given all that's happening right now, it should have been obvious that this situation would create tension between the player and the fans. And it only take one idiot ...
In that eventuality the club could be sued to oblivion. The question for the court would be whether it was "reasonably foreseeable" that the harm would occur.

FFS give it a rest now and FYI no court on earth would reach that verdict.

Things look different with hindsight. With hindsight, it's obvious that Town should have cut its losses on Mbenza in the summer, allowing all parties to move on - giving him the best opportunity to find an appropriate next destination and freeing up his wages.
It only takes one idiot ... and with hindsight some of the brilliant jokes on this thread would sound less funny.

I agree with you in so far as I hope nobody takes it too far, but other than a couple of (obviously facetious) comments on a fans' message board about dynamite and dogshit I see no reason to suspect that would be likely. I don't see that what the club have done is "breathtakingly stupid". The hope of extracting some additional cash is part of running a business/football club. No cash extracted = the club folds, and player sales are an income stream. Note - the crossing out of the word "additional". The guy has extracted an extraordinary amount of cash from the club we love and given next to nothing in return. Not because he lacks ability either. I might describe him as our answer to Jack Rodwell, although that may be doing the former Sunderland midfielder a disservice. As for suing the club, on what grounds? The club have upheld their end of the bargain. And yes. With hindsight, I'm sure that if club officials had realised he was going to refuse to leave the club & just stay to milk it for every penny, they would not have extended his contract. I do think it's entirely reasonable for them to want to minimise their losses on somebody who has absolutely taken this club for mugs since the day he arrived though.

Genuinely you've taken a single comment from an online message board and now you're already thinking something heinous is going to happen?. I ask if you leave the house because that level of paranoia you wouldn't step out of the door for fear of being sniped, or set upon by 4 white males in a non racist attack.

I'm not saying it's likely that someone takes this too far ... I'm saying that anyone who feels confident there's not some idiot who goes too far is living in a far better world than the one I live in right now. My request is for people to be a bit more mindful of the tensions that are out there. Feel free to ignore me.

Im very mindful of tensions, but even just using the governmental probability yardstick there's a remote chance of anything the like of which you describing occurring. I strongly suggest if you can stop living in the level of fear you're demonstrating here. If you knew half the stuff i do, then you truly wouldn't sleep.

Some have already gone too far in their criticism of the club's chairman. I suspect that if they do "take things too far" it won't be because of an obviously facetious comment on a fans' forum.

Is Mbenza just milking the club for every penny or is he willing to knuckle down and try and play first team football? I honestly don't know anything about Mbenza's personal decisions . I would be honestly amazed if he was not interested in trying to regain his fist team status, I was always miffed if I had to miss playing even in the local amateur leagues, yet Town fans seem to be suggesting that Mbenza has just downed tools , I honestly don't know! Is It that he is just being completely side lined and has been told he is unlikely to play for Town again. I find the whole Mbenza saga a little bewildering.

Often I'm inclined to give the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately the guy has used up all the goodwill that would have allowed that. Apart from a few months at the start of last season the guy has seemed to me like he was actively taking the piss. He's had chances to resurrect his career elsewhere & chosen not to take them. Cutting his nose off to spite his face? Maybe he'll still leave for Turkey, Russia, Mexico, Portugal or Australia, but I'm not hopeful. "Ils ont Γ©chouΓ©" - yep, looks like they did. en.as.com/en/2021/08/29/soccer/1630224255_602750.html

Still a reasonable chance Mbenza will be gone in the next few days. He seems to have remembered he's a footballer
