We are weaker hear than last year and after watching the game last night it brought home to me how big an issue this is likely to be for us shortly.
We are a loan player down from last year who had a spark about him. Our own midfield enigma has been linked to Rangers. O'Brian is apparently off as well.
Whatever we do get as money in we need spread it around a minimum of two first team starters in midfield. We have been linked along with others for a player from Newcastle but that is it.
Do we have any suggestions on who we should be looking at, remember that we need two starters not more bench fillers.

We need someone to control the game and help play out from the back, as well as some quality further up the pitch. Ideally a goal scorer that can pick a pass.
No idea who they would be, the second one ideally to be like a more consistent version of Bacuna. Saw that Ryan Woods has gone to Birmingham, would have been a good signing.

Ali McCann from St. Johnstone. Would be a perfect O’Brien replacement and probably get him for £3m-£3.5m.
Played great against Galatasaray in their European qualifiers recently.

He’ll end up in the PL or one of the big two in Scotland soon, so would be a good investment if we did. He’s 21.

Conor Hourihane on loan if no one comes in for him before the end of the window would be good, doesn’t play for Villa, was at Swansea last season but maybe out of our budget.

Unfortunately I doubt that we will spend that sort of money even if we got £10M in for O'Brian We’ll be lucky to see 1% of whatever we pull in for O’Brien spent on any replacement, it’ll be a season long loan from somewhere. The plan is to pay DH off as quickly as possible so anything we make will be funnelled off in his direction. Just have to hope we can prise something out of Rangers for Bacuna and are able to spend some of that.

The spiral dive will continue if that’s the case, not sure how quickly the group is coming up, but we may meet it before the end of this season if we don’t start spending.

Bear in mind we reportedly paid a £1m loan fee to Arsenal so that ESR could make 19 appearances, a loan fee for a full season for anyone remotely decent s going to cost a darn sight more than 1% of £10M.

I didn’t say we’d be signing anyone decent (😉) and this lad from Newcastle potentially coming in probably won’t carry the same level of fee ESR. On the basis that our previous Chairman gets the lions share of anything we get for LOB, I was hoping though he would leave us with whatever fee we end up getting for Bacuna. Might be wishful thinking.

boards.footymad.net/showthread.php?t=38261889 - halfway down - It then goes on to confirm there's another £10m repayable by 31st August 2021 and 2022, and then there's another £10m that has no fixed repayment date and repayment is subject to future events taking place, and you can imagine what they are. "So in reality the club owed Dean £61.4m, he's had £26m of that already, and there's another £24m that would mean Dean has been repaid £50m of the £61.4m that he in essence loaned to the club. It's as simple as that." - so guess where any money from LOB will be going..... Dean was a hero - he is now a zero - simple as - played his cards right and was always in a win win situation when Town got promoted. Issue was we got relegated with a set of wanky greedy players, who we couldnt shift.......and its come back to bite us. If we go down I would have serious concerns that we would go bust Anyone for FC Huddersfield ? - playing at Emley cos that is a real possibilty if PH thinks "Fuck it ..."

Biggest disappointment for me is how a self declared town fan who put so much effort into making us a force to be reckoned with is happy to see us struggle again to their own benefit. I’d never dream of telling Dean how to run his financial affairs but I thought there may be more than an element of goodwill
