Every time Hogg gets written off he comes back with a performance. I would like Vallejo to get a decent run.

Whilst JH didn't do much dramatically wrong and picking a Man of the match would be difficult (Toffolo, Thomas, Sarr maybe) I'm surprised at the suggestion he was MOTM. For example he didn't get a single mention in Gledholt Terrier's report. TBH I thought it was one of those days where JH's lack of creativity was highlighted, there were quite a few times when I felt he could have moved the ball quicker or attempted a more probing pass. That seems to match GT's comment "Town’s threat was too predictable and sporadic, not helped by a lack of midfield thrust". I thought it was odd there was a chant of "He's here, he's there etc. etc." when he massively overhit a crossfield ball to Sorba when in a very good position. Not his best game (IMHO) but certainly not alone in that.

Hoggy nowhere near mom for me. But I’m not disappointed in anyone really.
Gave them a good game and apart from an unbelievable own goal we get a point.
Any away win in this league is great. And a point at Stoke would have been great.
Unlucky. We move on. UTT

I quite like Vallejo and he looks decent when he’s got time and we’re playing well.
Not so much when we’re under pressure and on the back foot or being pressed.
A useful player to have in the squad in any case.

Errr, just to bump this thread, hopefully a few will read their posts and hang their heads. You mean because of Vallejo basically controlling the game when he came on rather than Hogg getting lucky being in the right place to score from the deflection?

Vallejo looks more comfortable on the ball and his range of passing is excellent.

A bizarre 'told ya so'.
Great to see Hogg score and I would pretty much always start him, but he was totally pants first half 😄

Vallejo played a fantastic ball into Sorba near the end. Ref gave a foul, not sure what for, but he would have been in on goal otherwise.

Thought Vallejo looked a bit erratic when he came on for 10 minutes or so, giving the ball away a few times in poor positions, but he grew into it well.
Hoggy had a great game though

Vallejo played the role of seeing the game out perfectly. Slowed the game down perfectly and was exactly what we needed.
He'll never be a first team regular, but he's SO important to the squad.

Errr, just to bump this thread, hopefully a few will read their posts and hang their heads. I suppose after you said he was motm at Stoke you must have thought he played like Makelele with a bit of Pogba (the France version not United) thrown in last night? He was poor first half but like everyone else played better in the second, not exactly a reason to come on with the "told you so's".

Lewis was MOM by an absolute furlong. Keeping him this summer is a god send.

Hogg superb last night
Vallejo very busy when he came on & controlled things, his range & weight of passing is excellent, top player IMO
Was an even first half but what a great performance second half, things are looking good. Solid keeper & defence laying the foundations. Bring on Forest at home Saturday. UTT

This highlights to me the significant change in the team. We finally have more than one player who can step up and lead by example. Last year, it felt like Koroma was carrying the team. O'Brien and Eiting could sometimes change the game but I felt they weren't consistent enough. With Thomas, O'Brien, Koroma, Sinani, Vallejo in the mix, we feel more balanced and flexible. Not forgetting Lees, Pearson, Colwill and Nicholls.
Hogg and Vallejo are different and I would be glad to see either in the team. Those options are great to have.
Blackpool commentary last night suggested the number of changes for Blackpool from last season will take to gel. I would argue we've had even more changes and look like a real team.

Horses for courses and different players in the same sort of position. 90 minute game calls for variation of type of player covering the same areas. Vallejo comes on for a number of players depending on the game situation. Not a problem for me, more of an asset.?

Waiting for Essex to come on and tell everyone Hogg had a worldy today....
Games like today often get forgotten when talking about Hogg. Everyone was crap today it's hard to find a decent performance between them but if everyone is crap so is Hogg, as a captain he rarely grabs a game or sets the standard or drives the lads on. If we start playing well he grows in to a game but he doesn't give everyone a lift. Leadership in the side is one of our biggest problems.

I'm not going to knock Hogg, far far from it....
....but if you're two nil down at home with 30 minutes to go to a team defending very very deep, I really can't get in the vicinity of understanding why he's on the pitch instead of Vallejo.

He'll be sulking because his world famous app only gave Hogg 6.7 today.

Half time. Vallejo for Hogg Sarr for Pearson who clearly was struggling Anyone for Ward.

Hogg has turned the screw in prior games but do believe game management with these two needs to happen. Vallejo would have been a calming influence against these out to prove a point. Hogg still has it as we seen at Blackpool but both need utilising and swapping depending opponent. Their game management and finding our faults was bang on. That goal down our left was one. Toffs knew it and ya saw him voice his opinion

I love Hogg and away from home we do need him however Vallejo needs more game time for me. He's has some fantastic passing and vision and would help us so much more when in possession.

When they break a teams play down before we play them surely they see if its rough and ready needed or intricate and rangey passing. Tbh Carlos is still learning but hes doing a good job and improving, hes gonna make errors. Ward scenario though, no excuses. Mipo needs to start, hes raw talent and its better than playing with a headless chicken

Especially late on when he’s sitting in the middle of the CB’s and Forrest had everyone behind the ball. He’s not needed there.

Vellejo is a better player but what you have to understand is what impact hogg has on the players which is why he is captain and in the starting 11

After yesterday there is a case to be made for Vallejo's inclusion, at least as a direct substitution for Hogg. Corberans inability to change tactics, game plan and even style of play yesterday when clearly things weren't going to plan. Granted in theory the substitution of Pearson for Turton was good but was rendered completely useless within minutes, just seemed poor management.

I’d quite happily see Vallejo alongside Hogg in a 4231 with Thomas obrien and sinani behind koroma.
