I've seen every minute he's played so far and I'm far from judging him yet and I know he's still ver raw but does he strike anyone else as lazy and doesn't want to chase down? Yep

I know he’s young and hasn’t had many minutes but his movement is poor and he’s hardly touched the ball.
Not sure what the West Ham fans have seen of him but it’s not a surprise they’ve loaned him out, despite having only one striker in their squad.

I'd love us to sign a Wayne Allison in his prime - would work perfectly with this set up.

Only seen him yesterday and think it’s really harsh to judge him on that.
Give him time to bed into a system .

How anyobody can judge someone on sub appearnces that in total come to 57 minutes is beyond me, came on at stoke with 12 minutes to go, the blackpool game was won when he came on,and for last half an hour yesterday he came on to some fans expectations of miracles, he might turn out good for us, he might turn out to be poor, but give the lad a bloody chance.

He needs time, would have hoped he’d be a bit more match ready to be honest but he’s got a lot of pedigree so hopefully it will just click for him at some point.
Needs to be more decisive with his movement and I’d like to see him spin in behind to look for the ball in behind.

I’d play him in the B Team games and see if he can make an impact there (and how he contrasts to someone like Harratt). Does anyone know what standard the lad has played at before? He looks miles off the pace but perhaps he just needs game time. I’d not start him ahead of Ward or Campbell though on the evidence so far, which is a damning indictment in itself.

Sinani and Koroma want to cut inside and shoot, and that is mostly what they do. Nearly all the service to a striker comes from O'Brien, Toffolo or Thomas and yesterday all three were kept very quiet by Forest. It looks like he was told to block the keeper yesterday when we had set pieces so that won't have helped. Like Ward he needs the ball to his feet when he is facing the goal and that was rare yesterday. Toffolo and Thomas can do that but we rarely push a defence splitting ball through the middle. It is very lean pickings for any striker and yesterday was particularly hard. You cannot judge the lad on that.

He will be use to the ball being played forward at West ham and not side ways and backwards.

He made a number of runs off the last man yesterday, never a chance the ball was going to be played through.. He will have to kick or head the ball at some point.. we are going to have to at least try and play to his strengths..?

I like the look of this guy , he looks lean yet strong, he obviously needs more game time, but I believe once he gets a goal or two things will begin to click. The service he got on Saturday was non existent, arguably, should he start against Swansea? Although admittedly he does look raw, it maybe time to give this lad more minutes.

Tbf he was doing that on Saturday but we only pass sideways and haven't a midfielder that can spot or play the pass for him

Does anyone know what his typical style of play is? In our system the lone striker is such a crucial role and we need someone to be full of energy, chasing down defenders whilst also being good at holding up the ball - which is why we play so much better with Campbell on the pitch instead of Ward.
If Odubeko can't fit that style then I'm struggling to see how he's going to hold down a regular place in the team unless we plan on switching to 2 up front at some point.

Too early to judge, but looks like we dodged a Bullet with the 7 figure fee we offered, I reckon West ham will be accepting a fraction of that in January.

Its easy to "judge"/"form an opinion" on him based on his contribution so far...unless you're one of those people who then finds it impossible to change or modify your opinion. Based on what he's contributed so far, he's looked like Carlos has been making the right decision to start Ward ahead of him. It's not wholly his fault, he's obviously a very particular type of striker, and he needs the team to provide the platform for him to effectively contribute. On the face of it so far, he looks like a player that isn't going to really fit in effectively to what we need. Hopefully that changes, as we absolutely need a viable alternative to the other options.

Colvil and hogg, o brien had the ball central a number of times when the lad made curved runs, never even an attempt to play it in behind.. He was central in the box a few times, ok there were defenders but Grabban was marked front and back when he scored, it's the ball in that got the goal. No ball in no goal..

Fairly anonymous when he came on but it's still early days, he will take some time to bed in and learn to link up with midfield. It's all a pretty steep learning curve for the lad and it's not like Ward had been pulling up trees (forest pun intended) in the first place.

Not one part of this makes any fucking sense. Too early to judge but we dodged a bullet... Well its too early to judge after 57 minutes of action. One where we have already won and another where we have had a shit day at the office. They wont accept a fraction, stop talking utter bollocks like you always do. Hes highly regarded there. Now that its you who has said this, he will now bang 15 goals, go back and be worth £30m no doubt

Think you need to re-visit your comment re Grabban, being marked front & back, he was not. Look at the hoghlights, no Town player in front of him, nearest Town player was a least 1 yard away from him. Agree the cross was perfect, straight onto Grabban's head, we were completely undone by speed of their counter attack & poor defending.

Thought we had one in front, not close and ball watching and one coming from behind, not close enough? Always taught to mark the man, not the ball. If you can engage your man it matters not where the ball goes..your man is your concern in incidents like this, you can't defend for your team mates.. Its a great cross admittedly although colvil could have 'challenged' the winger at some point before it?

Young lad, so let's not write him off just yet hey?
However...
1 - It does make you wonder how good you need to be to be behind Danny Ward?
2 - Saw little in 20 mins or so on Saturday to suggest he is going to be the answer to our prayers.
3 - The little we did see was what has already been mentioned - he was always making forward runs, looking for a defence-splitting pass. The Hammers may have players who can do that, I don't think we do.

Carlos needs to give him a proper chance before we cast judgement. Get him started in the next 3-4 matches then we can see what he is all about. Starting strikers because they try hard is not a good formula. We all know Campbell and Ward are unlikely to get to double figures between them, so what is there to lose?

But if he does that he has to play High too, he's the best passer out of the 4 CM's CC picks from, Vallejo could do it but he plays a bit too deep

This thread is amazing. We've had the lad 5 minutes, he's not started a game. He's played 12 minutes away at Stoke, 13 minutes in an already dead and buried game at Blackpool and 32 minutes on Saturday in an awful team performance and folk are on his case, calling him lazy and saying we've dodged a bullet by not signing him permanently, suggesting we terminate the loan. Absolutely fucking mental.
