You could have safely offered a billion billion pounds. Skinflint. That is assuming all clubs equal ability.

The toughest puzzle ever set by anyone. Nobody will get the clubs in the correct order. More than a thousand million, million more chances of winning the EuroMillions jackpot ( 1 in 139,838,160 ). 620,448,400,000,000,000,000,000 possible ways of arranging the 24 clubs in the end of season order. Don't check the maths ! Although Euromillions numbers all have an equal chance of coming out. Here, you generally know that Fulham are likely to be upper end of the table & Derby lower end. Still, I hadn't realised that the odds were THAT long.

I'll offer £20,000 if anyone predicts just six teams in their correct finishing order... Mind you , I'll probably want it all back (including a bit on top) over the next three seasons..

Excellent and will hopefully bring in a bit more response - unless they are waiting until just before the last match. Not forbidden ! I have tried to work out the odds for this and got 1 in 96,909,120 but really not sure if this is right.

I’ve made a new entry in the competition called DATM. It is the average of all the entries. so it could be said it is representative of this board as a whole, or at least those that entered.
1. Fulham 2. WBA 3. Bournemouth 4. QPR 5. Middlesbrough 6. Stoke 7. Cardiff 8. Birmingham 9. Huddersfield 10. Blackburn 11. Sheffield Utd 12. Swansea 13. Barnsley 14. Bristol City 15. Millwall 16. Coventry 17. Luton 18. Nottingham Forest 19. Hull 20. Preston 21. Reading 22. Peterborough 23. Derby 24. Blackpool

Now that the transfer window has ‘slammed shut’ and team squads are finalized,I thought we could have a competition to see who could best predict the final Championship Table at the end of the season. You get 24 points for predicting the exact position, 23 for missing it by I position, 22 for missing it by 2 positions and so on. For example I predict Fulham to be #1. If they are then I get 24 points. If they finish last I get 1 point. So if you peg every position correctly you would get the maximum number of points (576). To save you having to type out all the teams just hit the quote button on this post, change the setting at the bottom of that quote page to PREVIEW from BBCode, delete all this preamble so just the table remains, and then replace each of my predicted positions with yours and hit post. Or just cut and paste the list below the table. Submissions must be in before the Sep 11th kick-off. I will post a ‘How is it going’ table listing everyones points and positions at the end of each week if enough participate. TEAM | POSITION | Barnsley | 10 | Birmingham | 8 | Blackburn | 11 | Blackpool | 23 | Bournemouth | 5 | Bristol City | 13 | Cardiff | 4 | Coventry | 14 | Derby | 22 | Fulham | 2 | Huddersfield | 16 | Hull | 19 | Luton | 15 | Middlesbrough | 7 | Millwall | 9 | Nottingham Forest | 17 | Peterborough | 24 | Preston | 18 | QPR | 6 | Reading | 21 | Sheffield Utd | 12 | Stoke | 3 | Swansea | 20 | WBA | 1 |
Team Rank Barnsley Birmingham Blackburn Blackpool Bournemouth Bristol City Cardiff Coventry Derby Fulham Huddersfield Hull Luton Middlesbrough Millwall Nottingham Forest Peterborough Preston QPR Reading Sheffield Utd Stoke Swansea WBA

Well that just about takes care of 24th spot. linkI'm not so sure. They've started pretty well & have plenty of time to make that deficit up. Must admit I had them finishing bottom even without a points deduction but they've done well so far. Then again, a thin squad will probably bite hard as the season progresses.

Have faith Es Ist Ein.... At the end of the season we're going to get 24 points each for pegging them bottom. As you say, it's a long hard slog is the Championship especially when your recruiting is restricted. And by all accounts, the deduction may not stop at 12 pts.

Plenty of football rubbish on Twitter, but @eflchampstat puts out some pretty interesting stuff.

Well, if you'd told me after the Fulham match that 15 games into the season we'd be level on points with Blackpool & 3 points below Coventry I wouldn't have been surprised.

Blackpool and Coventry have completely ruined this game for me. I propose we scrap those early predictions and start again with some new ones.

Blackpool and Coventry have completely ruined this game for me. I propose we scrap those early predictions and start again with some new ones. Thing is, when I made the prediction of 18th on here it was just after we'd smashed Reading & I was feeling unusually optimistic about our chances. Before the season started if you'd offered me 4th bottom I'd have taken it in a heartbeat. After a draw with the supposed whipping boys & then getting bummed in the gob by 10 man Fulham I was even more sure that my pre-season prediction of 2nd bottom was accurate. Now? I still don't see us as a playoff side, but if we finish in the bottom half I'll be disappointed.
