I know Luton Town are earmarked for moving to a brand new stadium and was wondering if this will be the last time Town visit on League duty...
One of the last of the old type relic grounds around in the football league surely..
I see on the official HTAFC website tickets are available for the match, but by pinching the pic of Kenilworth Road to make it bigger, what a memory reminisce it brings indeed..
An asbestos roof... gutters hanging off and chipped and broken... some sort of debris covering broken asbestos below the scoreboard... advertising boards hanging from below the guttering... the uprights propping up the roof appear to be nailed with wood to secure them from coming apart...
Old and aincent and yet beautiful and I’ll bet the atmosphere will be electric in that stand !
Had it not been for a wedding in Paisley that day I may have looked into getting a ticket for The Town end just to capture the very last of the ‘museum’ type grounds just one more time as they’re so few and far between nowadays.
EasyJet were doing reasonably cheap flights direct from Glasgow to Luton so would’ve been a fairly straightforward away Town match an overnight piss up there and back to Glasgow the next day and the West Island that night..
If it’s to be the last Huddersfield Town match there then it’s something to maybe savour and I’m sure many will fondly reminisce about a similarity to beautiful old Leeds Road !

As eloquently put as ever westislandterrier. My memories of a trip to Kenilworth Road are less romantic however and include dodging the dead rat lying in the street by the open air markets dotted around the ground. Admittedly going through someone's house to get to the away stand (not quite but those that have been will know what I mean) is quite quaint but not a ground I see as a 'must' this season. And as for the idea of a Luton weekender for an overnight piss up it's even less appealing than an overnighter in Huddersfield town centre to be fair. Town centre's like ours and theirs are in desperate need of regeneration and no matter how long they've been talking about it the feckless long time leaders of our council never seem to extract their digits out of their backsides and get on with it. But it's OK we'll keep voting them in no matter what.

Worst place I have ever been (to watch Town). I even enjoyed the drenching in the Shrewsbury goat shed than I did the away day to Luton.

It's one aspect of football that annoys me,so much money sloshing around but never gets used right, infrastructure and grass roots etc.Towns ground was a dump in the 70/80s but probably not as bad as Lutons

Played on their ground years ago when they had a plastic pitch and it was a rough place even with 80 in the crowd watching us!!!! Luton is the land that time forgot!

Crumbling ground, zero leg room, pissing in someone's shed, no pubs nearby in a no-go zone. Cracking away day!

Shit place but I love it. Proper away end!
Last time we stayed in the centre in some dingy side pub. Was decent enough though with sky on tv.
Looking forward to it!

Is that the game featured in the end of season DVD where Warnock essentially says fuck how ya play in the second half, we shouldn't even be playing! If it is all I remember about THAT day out was me and mate having to buy dry clothes before mate's dad would let us in his car for the journey home! I don't think I've ever been as drenched, before or since 😂

I remember Laws being sent off for next to nowt and Luton scoring their 2nd from the free kick. Town held their own, both on and off the pitch. Chilly bus was parked in an old railway yard and it was dodgy to say the least.

Filbert Street used to be like going through someone’s house. That was the weirdest entrance into a football ground ever. I presume at some point they actually had to buy a house in that terrace row.
